Last but not least - those ever-present anti-Palin jabs:

The fact of the matter is, the comparison between her [Sarah Palin] and Hillary Clinton is the comparison between an igloo and the Empire State Building!”
— Host Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s Hardball, October 14. [50 points]

“If Sarah Palin becomes Vice President, will she be shortchanging her kids or will she be shortchanging the country?”
— NBC reporter Amy Robach on Today, September 3. [42]

“You know, the one thing that I don’t think anybody’s said yet is that she’s very mean to animals, this woman. Why does she have it in for these poor polar bear and the caribou and she aerial kills wolves? That’s a very mean thing to do. I think that that’s an important point.”
— ABC The View co-host Joy Behar explaining her opposition to Palin, CNN’s Larry King Live, September 9. [41]

“Is this [vice presidential debate] about her brain power?... Do you think cute will beat brains?...Do you think she’d do better on the questions on Jeopardy, or the interview they do during a half-time?...My suspicion is that she has the same lack of intellectual curiosity that the President of the United States has right now, and that is scary!”
— MSNBC’s Chris Matthews during the 7pm EDT Hardball on October 2, a couple of hours before the vice presidential debate. [35]

A campaign that’s turned down and dirty: Down in the polls, the McCain campaign has found a new attack dog.... Yesterday she [Sarah Palin] took after Barack Obama in a style reminiscent of Spiro Agnew when he was Richard Nixon’s running mate.”
— CBS’s Bob Schieffer opening the October 5 Face the Nation. [31]

And apparently, poor widdle Prez-elect has taken quite a beating...from the fact that he neither bowls or golfs that well....no biggie, neither do I. So, why does the AP have to defend him against this criticism?

KAILUA, Hawaii – President-elect Barack Obama thought he'd put the bowling jokes behind him. Not likely.

On the golf course Monday, a woman waiting at the 18th green reminded Obama of his disastrous bowling during the presidential campaign. It was an unwelcome reminder for Obama, whose golf game during a 12-day vacation has been just as troublesome.

"That was pretty good, right?" Obama said to cheers as he finished a round of golf near his $9 million rented vacation home near Honolulu.

The woman sitting on a nearby wall shouted, "Better than your bowling."

Obama smiled and went back to lining up his putt, which he got close to the hole but not in.

The woman's quip referred to Obama's embarrassing bowling outing in Pennsylvania, when he knocked down only 37 pins — with the assist during two frames from an 8-year-old. It was an effort to connect with working-class voters, yet he lost Pennsylvania's primary election to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Likewise, Obama has struggled with his golf game. He told reporters during his first round last week that he wasn't that good; he asked other patrons for tips on his second. On Monday he joked that his final drive of the day went only 20 yards.

It was Obama's third trip to a course while on holiday. Accompanying him were Bobby Titcomb, a friend from high school in Hawaii, friends Martin Nesbitt and Greg Orme, and aide Eugene Kang.

Obama has sought to stay out of the public eye while here, opting for private meals at his vacation home or at a friend's house. Obama has no public schedule during his stay, although aides say he has been receiving national security briefings and speaking with transition officials.

Earlier in the day, Obama returned to a military gym where he has exercised every morning except Christmas since beginning his vacation on Dec. 20.

Obama, his wife and daughters are due to return to Chicago on Jan. 1.

In our overly-litigious society, I'm not one to recommend lawsuits, but in this case, I say - good for her! Against the New York Times, no less --

A Washington lobbyist sued The New York Times for $27 million Tuesday over an article that she says gave the false impression she had an affair with Sen. John McCain in 1999.

Vicki L. Iseman filed the defamation suit in U.S. District Court in Richmond. It also names as defendants the Times' executive editor, its Washington bureau chief and four reporters.

Apparently she has wanted to sue since the story was published but she waited until now because she didn't want to become a distraction. But the lawsuit is very adamant in its charges of misconduct:

The Times was so concerned about being scooped that it printed a story "to pack the maximum sensational impact with the minimum factual support." The lawsuit contends she suffered an "avalanche of scorn, derision, and ridicule" that damaged her health.

The lawsuit cites accounts from other media, political pundits and the Times' public editor, Clark Hoyt, that interpreted the article as meaning that McCain and Iseman had an affair.

Despite this the NYT is standing by its story and will fight the lawsuit.

"We fully stand behind the article. We continue to believe it to be true and accurate, and that we will prevail," the statement said. "As we said at the time, it was an important piece that raised questions about a presidential contender and the perception that he had been engaged in conflicts of interest."

In an obvious attempt to counter the typically anti-Israeli sentiment prevalent throughout the international media whenever Israel defends itself, the Israel Defense Forces launched its own YouTube channel Monday.

As most impartial Americans are aware, old and new media were used against Israel in 2006 to foment international criticism of its attacks on Lebanon not the least of which was a Reuters photographer caught doctoring pictures.

With this in mind, as reported by the Jerusalem Post Tuesday, the IDF plans on being much more proactive this time in making the international community completely aware of what's really going on with Israel's recent military response in the Gaza Strip

Awwww, poor Obama!! Cry me a river!!:lmao: :lmao: Who gives a crap whether or not the man can bowl or golf?? It's more important to see if he can actually run this country (not feeling too confident about that one)!!!

We got back from CA on Monday, four days after we were originally scheduled to be back. Long story.

We need prayers as on Christmas Eve DH got a call that he and all the drivers for his job had been laid off until at least Jan 5th. They have a conference call today and we're praying that it goes well and he can get back to work.

I haven't been on this thread as the only net access we had was if DH took his sim card out of his phone and stuck it in my laptop, and even then it was as quick as molasses and everyone wanted to use my laptop.

Happy New Year, everyone! :cool1:

welcome back! I will say a prayer for your dh. Hoping you hear some good news soon.

Thanks, friends. He has to be on the phone for the conference call in 38 minutes; part of me is hoping they'll call him back to work and the other part of me is worried they won't.

We're watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the Sci-Fi Channel. :3dglasses

Good for Israel!

Here's an op-ed from Alan Dershowitz -- a liberal -- but one who understands that Hamas is a terrorist group. It's very well said.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/1231/p09s02-coop.html

And here's video of Fox News's Greg Jarrett cutting short an interview with a Palestinian apologist after she repeatedly lied and spewed lying propaganda. It's brilliant!

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/12/30/video-greg-jarrett-cuts-interview-with-palestinian-apologist-short/

And yesterday I saw one of my heroes — Benjamin Netanyahu — being interviewed by some apologist for the terrorist group Hamas masquerading as a journalist. When the snot-nosed little punk said something about Israel's "unprovoked aggression" in Gaza, Netanyahu said: "You're in New York, right? How many bombs being lobbed into your neighborhood from New Jersey are you going to accept before you want your government to do something about it?" The little punk just sputtered like an idiot. It was awesome!

I see a tide turning, though. More and more I'm seeing people say that Israel has the right — in fact, the duty — to protect its citizens from the terrorist group Hamas and its continuous, unprovoked rocket attacks into Israeli territory. Gee, do ya think?
