Question:
You know how there were some new liberal posters who "appeared" mysteriously a few months ago?
I received an email notification from one who's tag says Proud single dad.
There were pictures attached. This is the link:

Notice the highlighted name. There was a liberal poster from GA whose user name was the same and she was proud single mom, coincidence or not???

alter ego? with a 'different' IP address?

Oh yeah, that was great!:lmao: I just love when Glenn does his wife's voice. It always cracks me up! I bet he gets in trouble when he gets home though.:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I bet. I got that one in one of his emails. Been meaning to get my mom to read some of the stuff I've found on his site but keep forgetting.... :rolleyes1 My brain's on overload most of the time, it's a wonder I remember to breathe.:rotfl:

Ok, I'm going to brag here. I am DONE with my Christmas shopping (including the stocking stuff!). I am DONE wrapping said gifts. I am DONE with my cookie baking for neighbor gifts — and, I tried 3 new recipes and they all turned out wonderful. I am nearly done with the Christmas dinner shopping. I get to chill a little and just wait for Santa to come.

Now, you have to understand that this is the first year since my first baby was born (16 years ago) that I am not positively frantic with things undone for Christmas. Typically, I am baking with the kids on Christmas Eve, yelling, "You will finish frosting those cookies and you will enjoy it!" :rotfl:

I am usually wrapping gifts at midnight on Christmas Eve (or even early Christmas morning). I usually come across something I forgot to wrap later on Christmas Day and have to hand it to my husband or one of the kids and say, "Oh, yeah, ummm, I got you this, too…."

I don't know how I got to this organized state that I find myself in, but it is sweet. Surreal, but sweet.

Merry Christmas!
I used to cheat for Christmas wrapping. At least until when my son noticed (I think he was 8) that there never was a present from dad, just all presents from Santa. And most of Santa's presents didn't have to be wrapped don't you know. :rolleyes1

On another topic, I'm watching Numbers that I DVR'd and I'm noticing on my new TV that it looks so dark. So I haul out the old one and hook them up side by side and it was also dark on that one as well (I was about to take it back to Walmart to replace it). So, are all hollywood directors trying to imitate Law & Order with their screen shots? Are we going back in time so that the new "in" thing will be to turn our HD tv's into high end radio's? I'm just wonderin'.

If my kids ever fall asleep before two in the morning  maybe I'll get to wrap their Christmas presents!

I almost blew it yesterday when we ventured out to the store. Popped open the trunk, and was just about to swing it wide and have them put the groceries they were carrying in there when I remembered the bags of TOYS that are still in there! :headache: I made them cram all the groceries in the front seat, and they looked at me like I was nuts. :lmao: I did a great save, though. Told them I didn't want the groceries in the trunk because I had just tossed the traction cables in there (had to take them off because once I got up to the highway the road was clear) and they were all wet and snowy. WHEW!

I once threw a loaded diaper down the stairs to put it in the trash later and it exploded all over the front door. Never did that again.
That's awesome Loco. I'll be done wrapping gifts tonight (I'm incredibly bored downstairs by myself so I keep coming up here to talk with the kids and DH). I'm on my 8th load of wash - only two more to go and I'll be done. Anyhoo, I hope to be done with wrapping tonight and then I need to finish the stocking by Christmas Eve. I'm hoping to bake some cookies on Christmas Eve

Question for all of you - my inlaws host Christmas on Christmas day and my MIL last year only baked a ham, nothing else. She didn't want anyone bringing anything because she wanted to keep things simple, and I listened and when we got there, there was nothing but ham and the cookies I brought to eat. My kids were starving. Thankfully, my smart SIL didn't think that would be enough to eat and she brought potatoes, veggies, pies - lots and lots of food when they arrived later.

This year, I'm bringing something, but we have a three hour drive. Can you think of something substantial that can travel well? I'll probably bring cookies like I do every year, but I'd like to add to the meal. Any ideas?

Thanks!

:lmao: I can see myself doing that. I put loaded one's in bags and chuck them in the hallway til I go down. No way do I leave them stinkin' up the trash can in her room. They have been nas-tay latley.

Whe I travel to MIL I usually bring potatoes, they travel well. Like a sweet potatoe casserole. I also do a spinach casserole that goes well with ham.

ARTICHOKE - SPINACH CASSEROLE

1 stick butter, softened
2 sm. pkgs. cream cheese
1 can artichokes
2 boxes frozen spinach
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
Progresso bread crumbs

(I also add Parm cheese and mozzarella to this)

Cook spinach according to package instructions. Stir into hot spinach the butter and cream cheese. Place mixture into 1 1/2-quart casserole; season to taste. Arrange sliced artichokes on top; cover with seasoned bread crumbs. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

This is so good :lovestruc Kids love it - and they're picky kids, too pirate:

Debbie has good ideas with the crock pot as well.

 :scared1: OMG!

JK, We have those too when we don't want to drive to Hamtramck. ;)

When I don't make them, we get ours from Srodek's. In fact DH is making a trip down there tomorrow to get the sausage, keishka (YUK!) and pierogies.

You can get pretty good pierogies from the Kowalski deli. I love the Farmers Cheese. Mmmmmmmm. My MIL always has them on the table at Christmas. I look forward to them each year.

Awww!!:goodvibes That's great! I'm glad to hear that.

Michelle- your present save was too funny! I remember all too well the days when my mom used to do similar things..... uhhhh, never worked for me.:rotfl:

Hello my Con friends!

Snowed in today. The weather is the worst I've ever seen it. We were going to go to church, but instead we are going to have a little service here instead. The weather is awful and that's a true understatement.Okay, ready? Here's the recipe:

Go to store.
Buy Mrs. T's Pierogies
Come home
Follow directions on box

Easy as pie!!!

I wish I knew how to make pierogies, but I don't. Schwan's makes good ones too - not as good as my mom's aunts, but almost as good.

You are SO FUNNY!!!!!! That totally cracked me up - and I gotta see if we sell those down here.

And, a friend from church and I are going to Midnight Mass....should I call the church to find out what time it is? :rotfl:

What does one wear at a special mass?

That was a good save, Michelle -- I would have just shut the trunk and left the groceries on the ground or something non-clever like that.

Soarin08, I see that you're logged into subsonicradio...I'm totally getting the disney bug -- just a month until my first trip!

Hey, how did I manage to get over 1000 posts?!?!?!?

Congrats! Can't wait to see them. :cool1:

I was laughing at the Mrs T's pierogies, too. My step-father is Polish and all pierogies must be homemade. We have a few places here in NJ that sell homemade one's. They are delicious. He goes into Brooklyn to buy them special for Christmas, though. My favorite are the blueberry, but they don't seem to be making them anymore.

His mom used to make them homemade and they were good, too. But she's in her 90's now and doesn't do it anymore. I'll ask her for her recipe. :thumbsup2

I am notorious for leaving my Kleenexes in my pockets in the winter and running the clothing containing them through the wash. So my mom has had a lot of shredded tissue to pick off the clothes before.

when i was in the college dorms (yuck!), i and some friends used to play INNOCENT practical jokes on each other. dropping a couple of tissues in the wash when they left the laundry room was one of the best (not to say least destructive).

If you're finished, then what are you waiting for? Come over here and help us with our stuff! ;) :lmao:

Most stuff we usually make when we get to our destination, but some things that travel well are baked specialty breads (ex. banana loaves, cranberry orange loaves, etc. that you make from a boxed mix). It's tough when you have a long drive because nothing really stays intact or edible on the way, unless you use a cooler and ice.

Well I know exactly who Proud Single Dad is... Coincidence? I think not....
I must be missing something... I don't remember any such poster. Was this before my time? Can someone PM me and enlighten me? I'm lost. :rotfl:

And you requested them when I was not around? Hmph! Bah humbug. :snooty:

I've still never heard that loop in its entirety. :rotfl2:
