Hey everyone. I'm new to the conservative thread :)

Hope all of you have a great Christmas!

Welcome! Merry Christmas to you too!

DH is polish and lived in Hamtramck until he was 3, his grandma used to live down there though. He goes there all the time. He can even speak Polish. All I can say is "Na moovia Popolsku" (sp?) It means "I don't speak Polish" I use that a lot when I'm in Hamtramck(which isn't very often). Most people think I can speak it because DH can.

I'll look for the recipe in a little while and PM you with it. I'm off to take a well deserved nap right now. I was out shoveling this morning, then Christmas shopping, I'm pooped!

Michelle67 - Keishka is NASTY! Well, I never tried it but I read the ingredients while I was pregnant with DD8 and I literally lost my lunch. Anything that has blood as one of the ingredients is off limits in my book.

I googled it to get a recipe for you.

KEESHKA
4 pig's feet, split
2 lbs. pig snouts
1 lb. port steak
1 onion
4 whole black peppercorns
1 tblsp.salt
3 lbs. pork liver 5 lbs. buckwheat groats
6 large onions
1 tblsp. ground allspice
2 tblsp. ground marjoram salt & pepper
1 pint fresh pig's blood

Oh, and did I mention

FTR, I'm Irish. :cutie: I've only learned about this stuff in the last 10 years from DH. ;)
Oh my GOSH I want to barf now. I've never been exposed to this recipe before. Gross.

I think Srodek's must be the place my parents go to - it's on Joseph Campau. My uncle lives right near there.

Must get off the computer and go wrap some presents!

I am soooooo sorry I asked. :lmao: Actually, it sounds like Polish haggas, doesn't it? All that's missing is a sheep's stomach to stuff it all into. Gag.

Okay, what's keishka? Could it possibly be any worse than haggas? (:lmao: I'm Scot/Irish)

Glad you made it. :) If you figure out that duffle bag thing let me know. We need to get two kids in there too...but they are small.

Hi and welcome!

:lmao:

The new duffle with in-line wheels is very roomy and even have some insulation.... shouldn't be a problem.

To those that had relatives in Hamtramck... My great grandma owned the poultry market on.. umm I have no idea, I want to say joseph campau and something. It was around the corner from her house! :) This would be from the early seventies and back. I think they owned it back to the fifties. What I do remember is she made great cookies that she's wrap up in tinfoil for me, and the chickens were funny looking! LOL

Sometimes you can find Dudek's pierogies in grocery stores. Those are pretty good, too. I think the one's my brother buys are the brand Ward spoke up. My uncle brings up the kielbasa from some place in Wyandotte.

I'm off to Fraser for a hockey game. Wish us luck.. in driving, not the game! :)

Good luck with both!

My friend just called to check up on me. Her husband tried to get out today and got stuck before he even left the driveway in her SUV. She told me that the Narrows Bridge, Purdy bridge/sandspit, and Hwy302 (that comes out to where we live) were all closed last night and this morning. I can only remember the Narrows being closed a handful of times in the past 25 years (other than temporarily because of blocking accidents). :scared1:

Regarding the poster who quoted NASA as being the authority for Global Weather Redistribution [GWR to sound fancy - thanks Michelle, that was great], wasn't there a problem with the folks from NASA mis-interpreting the Earth's temperature for the past fifteen years?

I can't put my hands on the article - mainly because I really need to do something besides DIS right now - anyway, the article did a pretty good job, for me at least, of showing that NASA, albeit an authority on some things, does seem to have a bit of an agenda on environmental matters....

oh wait, here it is -- [psst, and I got it from Rush's website - it's okay, though, it was linked from another source - Rush is funny that way - he actually has evidence that backs up what he says]

This is where NASA got it's information...

GISS’s computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.

The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs - run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious “hockey stick” graph - GISS began hastily revising its figures. This only made the confusion worse because, to compensate for the lowered temperatures in Russia, GISS claimed to have discovered a new “hotspot” in the Arctic - in a month when satellite images were showing Arctic sea-ice recovering so fast from its summer melt that three weeks ago it was 30 per cent more extensive than at the same time last year.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/...-world-has-never-seen-such-freezing-heat.html

Oh, and there are a couple of pretty good stories where NASA scientists were reprimanded for stating that global warming was a myth...silly scientists....

No no, you missed it because it is on the last thread, but it's "Merry Friggin Winter." ;)

Thanks for the link! Sorry you're cold, but more importantly are you having fun? Will you or have you seen Cirque?
That's right. We gotta be PC now, remember?:rotfl:

Just posting a "high" to our lib friends. Hello libs! Glad you are enjoying our thread! ('Cause you know you are). :)

If they aren't here already, eventually they will be. :rotfl:
Oh I'm sure they've been lurking like crazy... ever notice how many views it shows our threads get? Wayyy more than replies.

Soarin- I had to take Chem last year. I'm sure you'll do great.
Well I have to have General Chem, Organic Chem, AND General Physics to get a biology education degree.... sheesh. That's too much for my poor brain to handle at once.

:rotfl2:

How does that work anyway, Soarin? Do you take courses online while you're doing the CP, or do you have a campus of some sort to go to in Orlando?
or breadsticks available. Sad, but true. They're open 'til 1am Su-Th and 'til 2am on Sat. and Sun.

I personally loved Physics. If it's an intro class, and if you still have a basic grasp of algebra and basic geometry, then you should be good to go. Chem was very easy for me, but Physics was even easier. Then again, I love math and had a strong math background, so my opine may be moot. ;)
I'll take online classes through my current college. And good, if you know some stuff about physics, you can be my tutor next year. I have no choice but to take it.... physics 1&2!!

SD I'm not that big on steak either. I really only eat it in the summer if my hubby barbecues it for me...and then only as often as I do because I like hot dogs and hamburgers even less. :lmao: Outback is for

That looks GOOD!!!popcorn::

My best friend hates seafood too, but she loves those coconut shrimp. They are yummy. We've tried making them at home. We got the dip almost exactly (it's orange marmalade and horseradish, but there's something else I think...) but we failed at the breading with coconut thing. We were wingin' it. :lmao:
I love coconut shrimp!!!! :goodvibes

Making your own coconut shrimp - that's impressive. I'm trying to think of what that sauce is, too --

Hot diggity! I found it --

http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/524/Outback_Steakhouse_Gold_Coast_Coconut_Shrimp38359.shtml

The dipping sauce IS made of orange marmalade and horseradish [good call, I wouldn't have known that] AND stone-ground mustard....would have never guessed either of those last two.
Awesome!! Now I will have to try this recipe...;)

Okay, okay - I said I would go to sleep but I couldn't resist once I saw this - an interview with Glenn Beck...[read with caution - I think there are spoilers up ahead...]

http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000008935.cfm
And I couldn't resist reading it...... Duh.

Good morning guys
Been really really busy.
We had a dessert buffet Christmas party yesterday. So we spent 2 days cleaning house. Boy did it need it. The party was awesome and I made a fresh no bake fruit cake that was LOVED by all.
I will post the recipe if anyone wants it,
I may even be able to take a picture and post it also.
My stress test results came back and I have NO heart disease, but I still have other symptoms... So more DR visits after the holidays.
We are doing our Christmas gift exchanging on Sat Dec 27.
The only person off on Christmas is DH
Im sorry for anyone suffering from cold and snow
We are having great weather today,
I'll check in later
Hey!! You made it!!

Thanks for the Mark Steyn article. Did you see that he was so tired of being treated like a hate monger, so he recorded a Christmas song just to tweak the Left a little. It's A Marshmallow World. It is a real hoot::lmao:

http://www.amazon.com/A-Marshmallow-World/dp/B001NFRST2/ref=pd_ts_dm_tr_9?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic
I saw that on Glenn's site. Totally cracked me up....:rotfl:

Thanks for posting this interview. I really think that Glenn was meant to write this book. I think that he has more than atoned for his past.
I do too.:thumbsup2 Gosh I am so glad that I read it too. I've got to write to him and tell him exactly what kind of an impact The Christmas Sweater had on me..... really made me stop and think about alot of things in my life. Sorry, but when I get to talking about Glenn, I kinda go on and on.....

Hey everyone. I'm new to the conservative thread :)

WELCOME!!!!!:dance3:

i just read an article and looked at pictures of the newly reopened sleeping beauty castle walkthrough at disneyland (on another site). it looks beautiful. i will dearly miss the q-tip swab they used to have as a miniature magic wand, though.

Hello all, happy Sunday! And Happy Hannukah to our Jewish friends.

BTW, I PM'd both AP and nanner last night to see if they're okay. Will let y'all know if I hear anything.

Maybe it's because they've misnamed the issue. It isn't global warming afterall, it's "Global Weather Redistribution." Trendy, eh?

I'm so glad you got some great news! I'll continue praying that everything goes okay.

Hi Guys!

A new home and already 8 pages in! Such a talky group. I've been busy with work, Christmas-related planning, and I've been baking like crazy. I've popped in from time to time, only to find that SNOW and COLD are all part of Global Warming's master plan! Uh-huh. And then the unicorns flew back to their pink cloud, but they said they'd visit again another day. :rotfl:

I can't believe Christmas is in 5 days. It always zooms up on us like that, doesn't it? I still have a little shopping to do, and of course more to bake. What's everyone doing for Christmas dinner? I'm doing ham and beef tenderloin (maybe that on the grill if we can dig it out of the snow!).

Well, talk to you all soon!

(Oh, yeah, I added an avatar. Tink, cuz she's sassy and spoiled like me!)
:rotfl2: I was wondering where you wandered off to, loco. Nice to see you back.

Here's the recipe:

Go to store.
Buy Mrs. T's Pierogies
Come home
Follow directions on box

Easy as pie!!!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That reminds me of a baseball cookbook I have from years ago where each player and/or the player and his wife submitted a recipe for the book. One then single player had a recipe for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It said: "Open bag. Serve at room temperature." :rotfl:

Oh my word, that blooming onion looks wonderful!!!! I'd love it. I'm not a seafood person, but that shrimp looks good too.
SD - what's going on with the ADR fiasco? I haven't been to the restaurant board in a while.

I also won't eat seafood. Can't do it. I'll also have a tuna fish sandwich once in a while, but that's it. Oh, and I'll eat tuna casserole during lent, but no fish. Blech. Can't do it. I'm more of a chicken/pork gal - all white meat. I like a burger now and then, very rarely a steak, but I love chicken.
MM, on the food topic, you and I must be twins! I'm the same way. Love chicken, and once in a while have a burger. I like ham occasionally, or pork chops, but otherwise I'm a chicken and turkey kind of person.

As for the ADRs, Disney's revamping their reservation system for the TS locations and recreation. So, while they're doing that, no one can make ADRs past March 22, 2009. They've been working on this new system for months. The only ressies you can make at 180 days out now are Victoria & Albert's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Chef Mickey's. We finally called today to make our CM ADR, and the dining CM said that they still don't know when it'll be, but they can't see it being until after Christmas. This is making planning a royal pain. :headache: And I'm dreading whenever they do open it up and the rest of the March people, all of the April people, all of the May people, and all of the June people call in at the same danged time. Yippee. Can you say server crash? Don't have to be a psychic to predict that. :sad2:

Great idea! I just signed up and they gave me a 25% off one. Someone mentioned that it's like Ohana's, and I'd say, kind of, but better. Shhh...don't tell Mickey! ;)

And sure, if you need help, give me a holler. I'll dust the cobwebs off of the physics knowledge in my brain and do my best. ;)
