Wow, one of the LA Times' national correspondents, Andrew Malcolm, is bewildered by the selection of Panetta as the head of the CIA, but he thinks he knows the reason for this selection:
He also notes that Senator DiFi's initial reaction is to go thumbs down on the pick. She says "My position has consistently been, that I believe the Agency is best-served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time." Jay Rockefeller is also not too thrilled. It appears that Team-O also committed a Transition 101 mistake by not telling key Congressional leaders about Panetta's selection and they instead learned of it by reading it in the NY Times... Oooops.

I'm not getting too many warm fuzzies about national security being a top priority on Obama's part.

oh c'mon, Geoff - Panetta will be perfect as CIA chief because Obama had such good intentions in selecting him...such loyalty to one another, isn't this what the CIA needs in a chief? After all, with Obama in charge, will we even need a CIA? Well, we will in order to clean up GWB's messes but that should only take a couple of days....[/sarc]

It's all about the good intentions or the image - nothing seems to matter in terms of silly things like competency or *gasp* experience!

Hope is a bad word, remember? We have GOT to think of a synonym for it.....;)
Here are some synonyms for hope. Maybe one of these? Any bolded are some that stuck out at me and reminded me of what bho might have meant with all his "hope" rhetoric.
achievement, ambition, anticipation, aspiration, assumption, belief, bright side, buoyancy, castles in air, concern, confidence, daydream, dependence, desire, endurance, expectancy, expectation, faith, fancy, fool’s paradise, fortune, gain, goal, greedy glutton, hopefulness, light at end of tunnel, optimism, pipe dream*, promise, promised land*, prospect, reliance, reverie, reward, rosiness, sanguineness, security, stock, thing with feathers, Utopia, wish

Oh, and DH gets to work tomorrow. Thank you God!

exactly. and with his experience in agriculture, personnel, and foreign language studies, he was obviously a shoe-in to run the c.i.a.

Ok, well, Glenn's radio show is over so that's my cue to go to bed. G'night cons!! I'll be back tomorrow!

:grouphug:

P.S. I'm spacing out my TR updates so I won't finish the report so soon. :thumbsup2

There's only one president at a time when he doesn't want to deal with something-like Israel. He's already president when it comes to things he wants to talk about-like the economy and his big handout plan.

If I'm not mistaken, that is the presidential seal on the plane from which Obama is disembarking. And it is on the inside of the door. And this is not Air Force One. And none of his family is with him.

:confused3
I won't read too much into this. It's one of the "Air Force Two" planes that he's disembarking from. The Air Force operates the plane and they might have been the ones to hang up the sign. To me, the whole "Office of the President-Elect" logos and signs were a lot sillier.

Good morning Cons.

Oh come on Geoff - it's only National Security. I'm sure Obama and Panetta have seen plenty of Hollywood movies on keeping our country safe. We'll be fine....

(I'm going to go rent Red Dawn and buy a bunch of canned goods and water now. See you all later).

Debbie - global warming is going to kill us, not those big bad countries that hate us.

:confused3
Please tell me this is photoshopped and not real. Please? (It's okay, you can lie to me).

Has anyone here Facebooked me in the last 24 hrs? I have someone who has friended me that I don't recognize the name. It's a Bobby Jindal supporter and a guy. Anyone?

Good morning everyone!

I'm *ahem* a wee bit older than you and was right out of college when Rush gained popularity [early 90s] so there's a bit of history - he was the one who really educated me on why I believe what I believe politically....I do need to listen to GB's radio program, I know I would love it...when he's not scaring the patootey off of me, I do like his TV program.

And, next year? That puts things in a hopeful perspective....

I have to say my favorite guy to listen to is Andrew Wilcow... Just to throw my 2 cents in there :goodvibes

And for your viewing pleasure this lovely (read: freezing cold) January morning... how's about an Obama Bobble-Head that says, "Yes We Can!" No, I'm not making this up :sad2:

Wow, that's spooky.

I am certain this latest action by NBC will simply ensure that Coulter sells an additional 100,000 books. I like Ann and her "in your face" humor. I don't read her books (just don't have time) but someday I will.

I've been meaning to read that book. I've never noticed that before. I should pay attention to CNN more often.

Speaking of which, MSNBC just makes me sad nowadays. Can anyone tell me what the fuss over Rachel Maddow is? She seems to me like a Female/Liberal Bill O'Reilly, except she only allows people who agree with her on to talk to her. Even so, everyone is hailing her show as a "breath of fresh air." To me, it's more of the same.

I know that is random, it just came to mind.

Comfortable shoes.

I am not either. Is it possible that the only reason Panetta was picked for DCI is his membership on the Iraq Study Group and his stance against "waterboarding"? Makes a certain amount of sense but this kind of "one-dimensional thinking" by the incoming Obama Administration suggests a disturbing lack of sophistication on their part (which they assure us only Liberals are capable of).

Hmmmmm.......

Love it! Hope they sell a bunch!

Oh goodie. I'm on another ignore list.
