Good morning everybody. :cool1: I just love the day before the day before Christmas. :goodvibes My in-house holiday prep is mostly covered. I've still got some work to do (hospital stops; Christmas Eve service), but I always find the feel of anticipation on this day to be almost so thick you can taste it. It's a unique feeling when a huge segment of society is counting down to the same thing with such eagerness.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

*running in* Merry Christmas!

I have some last minute shopping to do. I realized we are missing a gift for one of our nephews. I'm also going to do a major cookie ingredient run at the grocery store. I have this strange feeling we're going to be iced/snowed in this Christmas and if that happens I'll continue to cook and bake till the cows come home!

If it doesn't get too bad, we've got a major drive to a hockey game tonight, followed by Christmas Eve at my father's tomorrow, then Christmas Day/afternoon at DH's father's. I'm planning on midnight mass either at my dad's or here at home. I can walk/slide if I have to, at home.

Its snowing.. go figure. Someone turned on the snow button a few weeks ago and it won't stop! :)

Hi everyone - stopping in to wish you all a Merry Christmas!!! :goodvibes :santa:

JB & debbie - you guys are sooo talented! I decided to ask for a sewing machine for my b-day, so I may have to get some lessons from ya'all on the quilting. I really want to do it. What a wonderful gift to pass down to someone. debbie the Pooh quilt - OMG I love it!!!! :lovestruc The colors blend beautifully.

I'm looking forward to Glenn Beck on Fox, so I can see what all the fuss is about. ;)

And I can't wait for HP at Universal!!!!! Are we allowed to say that here? :rolleyes1 I have the new Beedle and the Bard and all it did was whet my appetite for more HP! What a tease JK is!!!!

Speaking of talented, my DH finished his gift for DD. He does construction work and is talented in that area. He makes ugly things beautiful again. Our house is awesome thanks to him. :cloud9: But he doesn't put his skills into making 'things'. So I asked him to make DD a toy chest for Christmas. And he did! It came out great! :lovestruc The best part is that it will be her 'hope chest' someday, she can use it for quilts and stuff down the road. :cutie:

I picked lavender cause I just love that color! And I figure she's only gonna scribble on it someday anyway, :rolleyes1 , so it will be re-painted I'm sure.

Morning! :)

My sister told me one year that today is "Christmas Adam", as in the day before "Christmas Eve"! :lmao: At first I was "Huh?", then when I got it, I was cracking up! :rotfl:

So...happy Christmas Adam everyone! :dance3:

Oh that is beautiful!!! Does he take orders???:lmao: I don't have the tools to build it, but I'd love to get my hands on a chest like that so I can handpaint it.

I meant to add in about HP earlier..I loved the books. I started reading them when Goblet of Fire came out just to see what all the hysteria was about. I kept thinking that parents should be happy that their kids WANT to pick up an 800 page book and read it cover to cover....They were all great books. I'm looking forward to the new movies. I believe the next 2 are combining books six and seven if I'm not mistaken. I just can't seem to get into wanting to read the twilight series. Just not my cup of tea IMO. I don't care for vampires. Never liked Ann Rice for that same reason, though I did see Interview With a Vampire.

Beautiful toy chest! Now, when I see your name instead of singing Mahnahmahnah.. I'm going to start singing, "This is the song that never ends, it goes on and on my friend...

I'm doomed I tell ya!

I'm headed out. Who needs groceries?

I am so jealous of people who can read in the car. I get  . I can barely read a map while the car is moving, and the laptop screen is out of the question (my husband decided that might work better than the map for me....no, it was MUCH worse). My oldest daughter used to read book after book on our trips from here to NY. I was grateful that she could...it kept her busy.
I used to not be able to read in the car. It's gotten better, but I still can get a little sick at times.
Glenn...ya know...there just aren't words to express how much I am looking forward to seeing his new show. Seriously if there were a chance for me to sit down with anyone in the world right now and just pick their brain....it would be him hands down. He hates his neighbors and I have the east coast, but I'd consider moving there if our families could be next door neighbors...I'd be helping him build his fence (and wind turbine:lmao: )

Soarin-have a fabulous time. I can't wait to see pics. I so hope DH and I can afford to take a vacation to WDW this year, even if it is just a short one. Alot will depend on how the littlest one is faring at that point. He's just about 6 lbs now...but the little stick boy just keeps getting longer not "rounder" so he doesn't look like he's gaining any weight!!! He's already grown 4 inches in the 2.5 months since he was born! (DH is 6'4" and 165 so I really shouldn't be surprised). My goal for next year is to weigh LESS than DH since he has an entire foot on me height-wise. Right now we're about the same.
Yeah my mom and I were talking about his new show last night and she's really excited too. We don't have a whole lot we agree on but our mutual admiration of Glenn is about the only thing.... I really hope you guys can make it WDW this coming year!!!!:goodvibes That would be awesome!!!

I'm sorry they don't like Glenn Beck (they're really missing out) but they can keep their comments to themselves about the fact that I like him. :sad1: They truly are a pathetic group of people to do things like that.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. :sad1:

:rotfl2: I'm on my way to the Christmas Luncheon at work right now, I'm going to have to tell everyone that. :rotfl:

Have a great trip Soarin!

Happy Christmas Adam, Everyone! [I love that, Mikelly!]

So...those of you that like Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare films (I spelled his name wrong before...I'm always adding letters to it)...have you seen As You Like It or Twelfth Night? I'm not positive, but it looks like they are part of his "Renaissance Films" but he isn't actually in them. I haven't seen them, and I'm trying to decide if I should buy them. I love the four of his Shakespeare films that I have. And speaking of Shakespeare, did anyone besides me HATE Hamlet with Mel Gibson in it? I like Mel, but it was just completely out of the question to manage the "suspension of disbelief" to see him as a moody teenager.

Me too about reading in the car, planes too for that matter. Funny, I used to do that easily when I was younger - now? Good thing there are lots of audiobooks around...

About Branagh - I haven't seen that many of the Shakespeare movies, although I've seen Much Ado many times. And Mel? I didn't even chance his Hamlet.

Debbie your quilts are too cute! I love the last 2...and I might have to come raid your stash for that winnie the pooh fabric. One of the young couples in our church is having their first baby and she likes the classic pooh so I thought I'd make her a quilt. She won't tell what name they picked out so I can't make her a wreath like I usually make for babies. Where did you find the fabric?? The diaper bag is too cute! I'm in the process of making Jacob's diaper bag, but since I'm kinda designing it as I go without a pattern it is very slow going. I'm kinda making it to resemble one of DH's uniform shirts.

Thanks for the articles on Sarah. Seriously I love this woman. Even more, I love her little daughter, Piper....there's a firecracker if ever there was one....give them 10 years or so and I'll be wishing I could introduce her to one of my boys....

*sigh* ok its now 645am and I've been at work for an hour and a half....and spent most of that time catching up on this thread so I suppose I should go back to work now. :)

Thank you for your kind words about the quilts! I love bright colors so much that the Winnie the Pooh quilt is among my least favorite - funny that y'all really like it...and I got the fabric from Hobby Lobby. My friend loves Classic Pooh too but I couldn't find any online and this was as close as I could get. Maybe you could also use sheets/pillowcases as well but that might get really expensive.

And yay for our tall Jacob! And, don't forget that your DH hasn't had to give birth recently so cut yourself some slack on the weight thing! It's Christmas Adam - eat up!

*running in* Merry Christmas!

I have some last minute shopping to do. I realized we are missing a gift for one of our nephews. I'm also going to do a major cookie ingredient run at the grocery store. :)

Was it Al Gore? He's real powerful, ya know....he'd do anything to keep our globe from getting too warm...and he also turned on the cold/rainy button in TN today -- at least my kitchen pipes have defrosted.

Thank you about the quilt....but talk about talented! I just sew stuff together from patterns but your DH! That chest is beautiful!!!! What a lovely heirloom that will be...you'll need to start working on those quilts for her :)

We need some bread so feel free to pick it up.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 And I saw your post over there on the lib thread. I can't believe the nerve of those people. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. :sad1:

If his picture bugs the libs so much, I guess that means Glenn's doing his job! And their reaction goes to show that they don't seem to understand a genuine greeting from the other side....and it tells me that a lot of their attempts at 'reaching across the aisle' were not genuine at all. You did the right thing - if they didn't respond in kind, it's their loss. :hugs:

MERRY CHRISTMAS ADAM!

Thanks!!!:goodvibes Did you ever decide if you were going or not?

We wound up not going last weekend. Ehhh, that trip with just me and DW will happen someday. I am still heading to WDW the first week of January although it's ostensibly a business trip (Hey, I still get a day at MK so it can't be all bad).

Thanks guys about the toy chest! I love it, too. :lovestruc It's almost full of toys already. And I know after Thursday it will be filled with even more. :rolleyes1 DH is incredibley talented. His DGF was a carpenter, and he used to make those mini horse carousels , all hand carved. OMG - they are to die for.

JB - I wish I could send you one but I'm sure the shipping would be astronomical!

JB, debbie and Michelle - I'll need advice on what type of sewing machine to get.

Hello everyone!!!! Merry Christmas Eve Eve (or Merry Christmas Adam - love it).
:rotfl2:

That's what I might as well do on some of my WDW vacations. I buy too much stuff, to the point where there's barely enough room for me! The ride back this year was not pleasant. Good thing I didn't buy the monorail set like I wanted to. I would've been walking back to Virginia! :lmao:

On that note, night all. TY again for the prayers and well wishes.
We have the monorail set. My almost 5 year old (he was almost three at the time) was OBSESSED with the monorail the last time we went to WDW. We had to get it for him.

It's really neat, but the characters that come with it are in two parts. Of course, DS has lost one part of each character and the character pieces are so small, but that doesn't matter. He still loves playing with it. He just uses other toys.

It's always time for some Much Ado -- I  Kenneth Brannaugh [albeit, I'm still a little sad that he and Emma broke up oh so long ago]
I love him too. Had a HUGE crush on him years and years and years ago. He's a great actor.

*running in* Merry Christmas!

I know - it's like we are living in a snow globe here. I was supposed to get my hair done today but it's a half hour drive. I didn't want to end up in a ditch so I cancelled it. I'm gonna look messy for Christmas, but at least we are safe here.

For all we know, we may not make it your way for Christmas afterall (we are heading to Saginaw and then down to the Detroit area). The weather is horrible and we are supposed to get freezing rain tomorrow. I'm wondering if I should head out and stock the fridge anyway. It's a tough decision to make because if we leave, then an empty fridge is good, but if we stay, we'll have to run out in the mess to get food. I have a feeling DH and I will be discussing this in detail later. The trek from here to Claire is pretty bad in the winter anyway - add in freezing rain or 3-10 inches of snow and it's very hazardous.

I love it. He does beautiful work. (Every time I see your name I break out into song...)

We can learn how to sew together. I'm taking sewing classes with my daugher and we'll be finishing up our quilt after Christmas. Can't wait!

Did you all see the news with the watermain break in Bethesda MD? WOW - they had to rescue people via helicopter! Hopefully everyone is okay by now. I haven't had the news on in a few hours, so hopefully everyone is safe with no injuries.

Gotta get back to sewing. Hope you all have a very blessed Christmas!

I think what they just had to aim at me in post #1986 on their thread is..... well, very rude and unacceptable. And about as far from the truth as you can get (because that poster decided that I have those pictures for a reason that I would certainly NEVER have them for!!). No more trying to be nice to them for any reason. I've been hurt for the last time.:sad1:

Gotta get back to packing.....

It's just "Hopey Changemas" as seen by a few people over there. There are quite a few Libs (I honestly would say most) who are fine people IRL I am guessing.

There is just something about a message board with political content that seems to force those on the Left to rigidly adhere to whatever the Party Line is (which is equally confusing because they really don't know what it is from day to day, as it is, for the most part just simple opposition to anything a conservative espouses).

Internal dissent is not tolerated at all.......as evidence, I point to the Liberal Thread, which ACTUALLY splintered into respective Hillary and Obama thread (and were some of the most vicious threads I have ever read.....like EVER). It is only now that we see people coming back to the Liberal Thread.......

.....and as far as I can tell, it reads like a recent issue of Tiger Beat

Oh, he's so dreamy without his shirt on......I wonder if he likes rainbows and unicorns like I do...... /s (just a little joke but.....y'know.....it is kinda creepy to me).

I am thinking a lot of people have fallen out of that bus over the last year....

Personally, I like the way dissent is handled by conservatives......with respect tinged with humor.

I also like the make-em-ups and vicious Kitty-mongering we do.......which speaking of....I really need to get back to work...... I mean they did burn down Sarah's church.......

I also like the fact that nothing would stop me from wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you (or whatever holiday you celebrate).....and do it without giving a toss as to your political preference etc.

:)
