.That's awful! Do they know who might be behind it yet? :sad2: rotfl:
I don't know, but I can guarantee that that's not the arsonist BO knew. :rolleyes1

Really? I thought it was rich and delicious and was glad to have that and the caramel apple cider to fall back on whenever I find myself at Starbucks. Well, I am glad you did not try it at my suggestion; I would have owed you $5!
You could still give me the $5. ;)

This talk of books reminds me... Can anyone recommend some good fiction books to me? I'm almost done with the books I bought over the summer, so I need some reading material.

Caveats: I don't like books with foul language or, ahem, racy content. :rotfl:

Christian fiction is something I recently discovered and enjoy. But I like regular fiction too, just as long as it's not questionable as defined above. ;)

I also have no desire to read anything depressing and/or about illnesses. :headache:
How about the Left Behind series? It's pretty good Christian fiction.
I could recommend the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon but those are racy and have some bad language. Good books, though.
Oh, and Dave Barry is very funny. But get his older books, not Big Trouble.

Of course "The Christmas Sweater" by Glenn Beck is a great read, especially right now :)

Christian Fiction authors I've been enjoying -Tracie Petersen, Judith Pella, Karen Kingsbury, Judith Miller, and Wanda Brustetter. A couple of other authors you might like: Debbie Macomber, Jennifer Chiaverini (her's are a quilt series but still really good even if you aren't interested in quilting)

Most of these authors are historical fiction, which I really enjoy. I've read pretty much everything all of these authors have written :)

Hi gang! I have absolutely nothing to contribute to the conversation today, but thought I should check in. :lmao:

Have a great Sunday! :cool1:

I'm trying to load my spiffy new iPod nano.   It's 8gigs of lustrous audio glory. :yay: Such an upgrade from my Shuffle! I just made a playlist I entitled "redneck". Now playing is "You Never Even Call Me by my Name" (David Alan Coe); next up: a little ditty by Jerry Jeff Walker which shall go unnamed ;) .
See? When it comes right down to it, I'm just the plain old southern boy I've always been. :) All that money spent on fancy university degrees and high speed internet, and I'm piddling away my Saturday night listening to Waylon Jennings and Lynyrd Skynyrd. :sad2: :lmao:

I second this. The Christmas Sweater is a great book.

I also have to tell you that we just got back from seeing him live, doing The Christmas Sweater stage show.:cool1:

It was even more touching getting to watch him perform the stories from the book live. Glenn is an amazing man and really puts on a show. I highly recommend seeing him live or going to see the movie theater simulcast of The Christmas Sweater on Dec 17th! Just make sure to bring some Kleenex with you.

:goodvibes

Then you must try Starbuck's Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate. It tastes like a chocolate-caramel pretzel in a cup!

Hm...sounds interesting.

I just saw on FOX News that Sarah Palin's home church has suffered over a million dollars in damage from a suspicious fire.:sad2:

This has been the talk of the town up here. I have many friends who attend that church. I'm sure we'll hear more details in the coming days.

Someone loaned me a Christian fiction book series I can't put down...I'm on #2 of a trilogy. It's called the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. Really good.

Hi guys! We had our Christmas party tonight. It was a lot of fun. My husband came to the party via Yahoo chat and webcam. :) Everyone got a chance to chat with him, and he played our Christmas present game with us too---everyone brings a present, we draw numbers to establish the order and then go in order and people can unwrap a present or swipe someone else's (and then they have to get another one). We lost the voice connection half way through the game so that slowed us down because we had to type to tell him what everyone had and find out who he wanted to steal from...because everyone kept stealing from him. But it was fun, and really cool that he could "make it" to the party. :)

My cousin made it to the party, and I didn't even know he was in off the boat. :) You know, he's the cousin that is a fisherman, and I posted pictures of his boat iced over a couple of winters ago. Remember those? And just because I'm in a picture posting mood these days, here's my cousin holding my grandson. He held him and played with him for a long time. It's such a bummer that he doesn't have any kids---he loves them so much.

Didn't get blown away but did have wind. It's supposed to snow, too, and I haven't seen hide nor hair of a single flurry.

JB, that's a beautiful quilt!

Got any snow yet? I have about an inch sticking.

Oh, that party sounds like so much fun. What a neat idea...a very creative way to include him in the party. :thumbsup2

And yeah...I remember those pictures of your cousin's boat iced over...incredible.

Anyone else in WA snowed in? We got some good snow up here now. Sigh. It's freaking cold. I can't believe how cold it is. Ugh. I hate it. It's 20 degrees, but 10 degrees with the wind chill. Yuck.:headache:

Argh I forgot to mention Francine Rivers. She has some amazing books. I especially like the ones that she takes a biblical story and sets it in a different era. Redeeming Love is one of the best ones.

Michelle, where is you husband (if it's OK to ask)? I didn't realize he was gone until I saw you post the other day that he was out of the country. DH will be leaving right after Christmas for Germany, and then deploying from there to whereabouts unknown.

kinda the same possibility here. DH's unit is deploying some guys after the first of the year but i dont know if DH will be among them nor do i know where they are going. Prob Afghanistan. DH wants to go but he's already been to Afghanistan once so I know he'd rather go to Iraq but he'll likely volunteer for whatever comes up. The only upside to a deployment is the bonus separation pay....but still not worth it in my opinion

That's funny, because Dh has been to Iraq a few times, so he wants Afghanistan. I agree the extra pay and tax break is nice, but not worth it.

well, this is what i've been workin on all day... what do you guys think?
It's beautiful!!!

My children had little hair until they were 2 1/2. They did make up for it because they have very thick hair today.

That's mine, too. She's like me and has to have it thinned out quite often.

Hey ya'll! Just wanted to do a drive by and say hi!!! **waving** I'm trying to finish packing....made a list and checking it multiple times. Gee, I didn't realize I'd miss my kids so much. I'm having to make schedules for them to come by and take care of the menagerie. It was sooooo much easier when they were still at home.

Anyways, be safe and hope all is well for all!!!:)

Have a great trip!!!

I asked for a Nano for Christmas just so I could make playlists! I, too, have a shuffle that I listen to at hockey practice. My musical taste is VERY eclectic. A hockeydad wanted to check out my headphones and asked me afterwards if I knew that I had Pavoratti, Eminem, movie soundtracks and hard rock all on the same shuffle, along with Classical, Elvis, Country, Pop, and 40's Big Band. (He missed my religious/Christmas music!) He asked what it was I didn't listen to. I couldn't come up with much, yet I am picky about WHAT I listen to, just not what genre! BTW, for some strange reason, watching hockey practice to Opera goes the best! LOL

That is so cool that you were able to have a party with your DH semi there! I'm glad we got to "meet" your cousin, since we're all afraid of his boat!

Hey, Michelle67. I'm so glad your DH could "go to the party" and play.

DH & I went to a Christmas party for the SWAT team (I forgot there is one female on the team now) and dates. We just ate way way too much. We thought it was going to be appetizers and desserts. Uh, no! They had ribs, pork tenderloin, casseroles, dips and desserts. I took oreo truffles, and hope to not look at any more for a few days until I ahve to make them for the fire station. :rotfl2:

Hello everyone. I am so mad at myself. I slept through church (Mass) today. I hate it when I do that. I promised myself that we wouldn't miss Mass during Advent (I miss Mass too much - I get sick often) and today I slept right through it. Darn it all.

After I eat lunch, we are going to read the readings, reflect on them and then light the third Advent candle. That's always my favorite candle - not because it's pink, but because it reminds us of the Hope that Christ brings us. :)

Oh...and it's -20 up here today.
Holy cow that's cold.

That is so cool Michelle - I love how you included your DH in the party. That is so cool. I love modern technology!

Not in WA, but here in Michigan the roads are awful because of sleet. I guess it's kind of good that we are missing church today.

I don't know how you gals do it. You are strong women indeed.

Yeah, I'm afraid of that boat too! Oh, and Debbie - you and I would get along VERY well. I thought I was the only 30 something mom who listens to Eminem. I only really like two of his songs and listen to them when I run on the treadmill. LOL!! (as well as everything else you listen to - I don't have Pavarati, but I know I would love to listen to him). I'm also a big musical girl - love those too. The only kind of music I don't like to listen to is rap with the horrible sexist language.

Today is a lazy day. We'll do our prayer service and then I'll be sewing all day long. I have three stockings to finish before Christmas.

I had my sale yesterday. Brought in about $700. I was hoping for around $1000, but I won't sneeze at $700. I don't want to do my paperwork - everything was 1/2 off, so I lost a bunch of money. Don't want to know how much.... :)

Hi everyone! :wave2: We got back yesterday from WDW. I'm not even going to try to catch up on this thread. :faint:

I just have to say I had a WONDERFUL time, but I'll never stay at Pop again. I'm not a hotel snob but I'll just say we had several less than magical experiences there. I think we'll upgrade to Carribean Beach next time.

Beautiful grandson Michelle and great quilt JB.

I'm off to Walmart to restock the cupboards now. I'll be back on later today.
