I heard that David Axelrod said that BO had been in constant contact with the governor.....????

If H was a Republican....

They'd want to hang a Republican from the nearest tree.

It's only the beginning. Floppy has surrounded himself with scummy people so it's no surprise. His term(s) as POTUS will be Mr. Floppy Ear's Wild Ride.

Sorry I've been absent here...my kids all have their holiday shows this week...church plays, choir concerts, and today my oldest daughter had her first performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Congrats on the performance!!! The SPF is a very demanding role. Y'all must be so proud of her!!!

Okay, one more post and I'm outa here -- I really need to start going to bed earlier!

This is the response of the man who lost his wife, daughters and mother-in-law in that military jet crash yesterday -- oh, and he's a naturalized American originally from South Korea...
G.

Bless his heart, this is so sad but he's an inspiration.

Good morning guys
Congrats to #1 Hockey Mom
Im so happy for you
Ries mom Sorry about DD's broken nose ouchy
Blest bet your DD was the best sugar plum fairy ever
Im watching Fox news and they just had that stupid clean coal commercial

I never told anyone how long I was suffering and now I am SCARED...
My DM died of heart disease at 46,,, Im now 47....
Oh gosh, enough downer news.
Im almost completey done with my shopping.
I even mailed the out of state ones,, I've never been thie early before.
I only have stocking stuffers left,
And a big box of canned goodies for my oldest DS
hes living on his own and I've told him as long as he has canned goods, he wont go hungry.

Thanks, Mrs. Don, Rie is feeling a little better. Don't push yourself too hard. The holidays are stressful enough. Take care:hug:.

My favorite SIL and I are going shopping today and I won't get back 'til later today. Y'all have fun!!!

I feel so bad for that Korean-American man. I also feel bad for the pilot. I'll praying for both of them.

Mrs Don just do what they tell you and rest. I hope you feel better soon.

Local news is showing govB going somewhere this am. They are sort of just following him.:confused3 Kinda like the OJ "chase". Wonder whats up? Probably nothing they just are goofy.

I am going to the scholastic book fare sale today (if i can get motivated). They have some great deals on the book fair books that didn't sell. So I hope to do a little Christmas shopping.

We got more ice this morning. Not bad but  2 days this week. Roads are fine but it is the little patch you don't see that will get ya! And it is cold!!! And they are saying a real ice storm may be headed our way on Monday! I need to back away from the computer before I go wild and take Southwest up on the winter sale to well any place warm that is on sale! No that is not in the budget!

Have a great day everyone. I better go after bargain books and away from temptation.

Holy crap, check out my new tag!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

:lmao: Congrats SM!!! :cool1: :dance3:  :thumbsup2

Warning for my conservative non-Christian friends: God talk. ;)
President Bush doesn't believe the Bible is literal? Hm.
When it comes to the Bible I'm of the opinion that either you believe all of it or don't believe any of it. You can't pick and choose. :confused3
I know some things are literal and some are figurative. But you can't say, 'I read the Bible but I don't know if I believe it but I'm a Christian'.
I do believe that animals and humans and viruses and everything else adapt. But I don't believe in evolution; I don't believe man evolved from apes that evolved from protoplasm. The Bible says God created, I believe it. Why would God lie? I know some will say that man wrote the Bible but God inspired it.
Besides, it's not instrumental in my faith. When I see God, if He says "I created evolution", I'll say, "So I was wrong. No big deal!" Doesn't affect my salvation. At all.
Anyway, now I'm sure I'll be blasted by some for being a creationist.:rotfl:

.

Well, I used to do the give and take with the Bible....until I started reading it, and before I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. (I don't apologize for my beliefs folks, but I know some of this can seem a little....well, you know.) I also don't understand how some folks can believe that Jesus died for our sins and not our sicknesses too. How can you believe one and exclude the other?

On a lighter note....I had a baking disaster last night! Please tell me what I did wrong, because I'm about to repeat it today...

I made Pizzelles - about 150 of them - and they taste bitter. AND the taste lasted for hours! Here are some probable culprits....

-I didn't "fluff" the baking powder, so...too much?
-could the flower have been too old?
-I used a new vanilla and these take a LOT of vanilla, so???

Ok, so if y'all could help me determine what went wrong before I waste another 12 eggs, 4 sticks of butter, and 7 cups of flour, and 3 hrs of my day...I'd really appreciate it! :goodvibes

On the pizzelles, did you add anise? I know if you use too much anise it can cause them to be bitter.

I'm pentecostal/evangelical/whatever you call it. We believe in baptism of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, healing, miracles...it's all good. So unless you're sacrificing goats or dancing with snakes or eating live chickens I highly doubt anything you say would bother me. :lmao:

No anise...I make vanilla pizzelles. I'd love to try almond extract, but I have no clue how much to put in. Someone :rolleyes1 recently told me that it's probably the baking powder. After today, I'll know if she's right....well, I know she's right...I'll let you know if she's correct. ;)

On the religious thing....I'm right there with ya sista! :teeth: I also agree with you that if I'm wrong - it's not a salvation issue, so it's all good ;) .

Oh, and there'll be no goat sacrifices...that's SO Old Testament ;) :rotfl:

I feel so bad for that Korean-American man. I also feel bad for the pilot. I'll praying for both of them.

He is a remarkable man being able to give the statement that he did. I don't know if I would have been able to do it.

So yesterday I posted the story about out of control environmentalists wanting to tax cow flatulence. Well now In Austria some environmental activists reported illegal logging activities........Yeah.....it turned out to be beavers!!! :rotfl2:

Illegal loggers were beavers

Green campaigners called in police after discovering an illegal logging site in a nature reserve - and rounded up a gang of beavers.

Environmentalists found 20 neatly stacked tree trunks and others marked for felling with notches at the beauty-spot at Subkowy in northern Poland.

But police followed a trail left where one tree had been dragged away - and found a beaver dam right in the middle of the river. A police spokesman said: "The campaigners are feeling pretty stupid. There's nothing more natural than a beaver."

mrsdon: Please take care of yourself and rest up. I agree, do what the doctor says, we are all praying for you!

Riesmom: I am so sorry about your daughter, man that makes my nose hurt to read about it!

Breezy: Did you add the anise? I think it can go bad. I would buy new baking powder and new anise. I hope this batch turns out, that's a whole lot of work you did!

Another bad apple in Obama's circle of friends. Big surprise Chicago has turned out yet another corrupt politician. Although this guy does win the Helmet Hair award of all time.

Had stomach bug here yesterday with my son, and today I feel sort of sick. At least its this week and not two weeks from now!

I have to say speaking of my son, I was really proud of him. He has a group of very young teachers who spent the entire first two and half months of school doing election coverage and basically drilling into the kids why this election was so exciting and wonderful. Several times they had the kids raise their hands to do a mock poll. Ds and one other brave young kid were always the only ones to vote for McCain which of course didn't give them much in the way of love and respect. Ds wrote a very nice essay all about McCain and why if he was 18 he would have voted for him. It was really good if I do say so. The teacher gave him a D but said he could correct some spelling errors and she would regrade it. I can't help but think if he had written about the virtues of BO, he would have gotten a better grade. Oh well, ds said he'd rather get a bad grade and write the truth than a bunch of lies just to make his teacher happy. I might add this teacher has never one time taken points off for spelling errors.

And in the next presidential election, ds will be 18 and can vote for real! Hopefully he will stand strong against the liberal agenda of his teachers. I know I didn't and became quite a liberal for a few years. But then I came home back to Mama!

There is your problem flowers can be very bitter, you should use flour next time. :)

Sorry couldn't resist, any of the above items could have caused a bitterness if old. I don't know what else was in it, but if you used yeast that can most certainly be the culprit, bad yeast caused a lot of damage to baked goods.

And on another note where are all those folks that were bashing Bush 2 months ago about the price of gas praises for him getting them lower. I mean if it was his fault they were so high, shouldn't it be his credit that they have come down?

Amy&Dan, I make vanilla ones so no anise, but I never thought to buy new baking powder - I'm going to do that. I just can't risk this batch going south - well it is going south with us, literally ;) - I mean going bad.

Sorry, I'm in a strange and funny mood today :rotfl:

I wondered that too. I seem to recall several posters here on the dis that had "When Bush took office gas was at $1.46 per gallon" in their signatures. Last night at my local station, gas was at $1.47. So I wonder, did the they change the signature to thank Bush for keeping gas so low in his last days in office?

 :rotfl: Oh my gosh...in my defense, I only had one cup of coffee when I wrote that.

:thumbsup2 Yes, I will try flour this time - new flour too. ;)

As far as the Bush thing goes....I think we all know the answer to that one

Of course it isn't to Bush's credit that gas prices went down...it was all because of the HOPE of Obama becoming president...he spoke...offered his "services" whatever that means...and magically oil prices dropped...didn't you know that only good things come from the Office of the President Elect....ya know....figments of your imagination...much like the above mentioned "office". Everything bad that happens from 2000-2020 or so will likely be blamed solely on Bush.:sad2:

I, for one, am grateful that The One overcame the evil Buuuuuuush to lower the gas prices. We're driving to Cali on Tuesday and I'm glad the prices are lowish now. :worship:
Hahahahahahahahaha! :rotfl2: Thanking The One! :rotfl2:
*cough cough cough* Hahahahahahahahaha! :rotfl2:

The beaver story was funny. I wonder what egg on the face tastes like? :rolleyes1

     Take it easy and try not to worry to much. Worrying doesn't help. I'm sorry you are going through this right now, and you have my thoughts and prayers. Funny about the canned goods for your son. I bought my daughter and her guy a case of chili earlier this year. Seems such a funny "present" but they were excited.

And on another note where are all those folks that were bashing Bush 2 months ago about the price of gas praises for him getting them lower. I mean if it was his fault they were so high, shouldn't it be his credit that they have come down?

I saw that you said that on the other thread, and I agree with you. I don't think it is his fault OR his credit either way, but if you're going to blame him you have to thank him too. That's how it works.

No. Nonononono. We can't thank him for anything. Remember: everything is Bush's fault. Forever. No exceptions. Ever.

Hi, everybody.
Got an email from my momma...and thought you would all get a "kick" out of what she had forwarded. Found the link to go with it. ('cause we all know if there isn't a link...it can't be true.:lmao: ) It's an oldie...but a goldie.

LEWIS NAPPER'S PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our
great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters.

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives
independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of
public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce
away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from.

Lastly . . .

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was
founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of
our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

Have no idea if the guy won the State Leg. seat in 2000...but was amused at how closely some of the articles tie in with issues that have been recently discussed on the DIS.
