I've discovered something: if this stimulus bill comes to pass, I actually benefit. I'm still against it, but at least now I won't be completely distraught if it passes. That first time homebuyer credit would become a gift. That's $7500 to me! :cool1:

I was talking to my boyfriend last night about it and he goes, "yeah Obama is trying to help the poor, but you know, as collateral damage sometimes he helps middle class too." :lmao:

not that i wouldn't be thrilled to chip in on that $7500 for ya, but the gift of money to many people who, in the long run will still not be able to make mortgage payments, isn't a good idea.

i saved (by myself) for a down payment, bought a condo (by myself) struggled to pay it off, then sold it and bought (by myself) a 2500 sq. ft. house on a 14000 sq. ft. lot in california.

nobody gave me any gift. where's my award for not taking advantage of taxpayers? where's my award for making payments and paying property tax and doing it the right way?

He may help you today, but baby he is going to sock it to ya' tomorrow! If you are a wage earner, you WILL be paying taxes through the nose by the end of Obama's term.

Your reward is the satisfaction of contributing to helping your fellow commrades achieve a more equal footing in this wonderful land of sacrifice and opportunity.:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Last year when they did the "economic stimulus" and I got the check for $600, my parents didn't get it. They said to me, "glad you're benefiting from our hard work." Trust me, I don't need the $7500 and I'll do quite fine without it, what worries me is that there are certain people who think we need to make it a gift otherwise people won't be able to pay it back (and honestly, with the way the loan is structured, I can see why...) I just say that if the dems are stupid enough to pass this bill (which even though I now stand to benefit from, I still don't support) I'm glad that I'll get at least a bit of it. I mean, I know I'm not their target audience here...

All the more reason I should scoop up the "gift" if he decides to give it to me ::yes:: If I didn't buy the house, I would have owed money this year...I'll be 24 at the end of this month, I don't make a huge amount of money, just middle class. Ridiculous. My bf owes almost as much as I'm getting back. I thanked him for his money :flower3:

Why is there no gagging smilie? Will this do? :crazy2:

This cracks me up. Voters strongly believe tax cuts are good for the economy and a dollar of tax cuts are better than a dollar of government spending, yet they voted for Obama???:confused3 :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :confused3

Let the record show I DID NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA!

This is SO true! I don't understand how people are so blind!

-hope you all don't mind me joining-

BECAUSE......they were hoodwinked by Obama....with the help of the "MSM".

We tried to tell them so.....BEFORE it was too late.

i'm thinkin' 'bout this $500k salary limit we heard about today--

i don't really think it is a TERRIBLE idea, considering the taxpayers are giving money to these companies and we'd like to see it spent wisely. i have a feeling we'll see extremely competent execs leaving companies 'cause this will be a serious pay cut for them. if they're there for the challenge, wonderful. i'm not sure how many people are willing to take on that challenge for that amount of money. maybe a higher salary limit with a bonus allowed based on revenue...a small percentage.

whaddya'll think?

Doncha know - they actually BELIEVED him when he said that there would be tax cuts for 95% of Americans...even though he's never voted for a tax cut in his brief political life....silly gullible Americans, at least 52.9% of them...

Yeah, and I'm with the one upthread who mentioned getting sick of the word 'mandate' being thrown around all the time -- since when is 52.9% a mandate?!??!?!

TL - that was hysterical but, unfortunately, kinda true...*looking for my garlic*

Onelil, my Disney haze is fading too ---- reality is coming back *sigh*
