I'm young and a conservative. I've been one since I was 12 and first started listening to Rush. :thumbsup2

What, you weren't "born a conservative" like Helen Thomas was "born a liberal"?

The military discount that Disney is offering is so flippin' AWESOME! We couldn't pass it up. 40% off the room, one free 5 day park hopper (with waterpark option), and we can buy up to 5 companion tickets for only $99 each. You can't beat that!

I'm so happy.

AWESOME!! I've stayed at Shades of Green, the military resort. I didn't know they were offering discounts for other resorts. That's cool.

One reason we have lots of young conservatives here, and nationwide, is because that many people young and old recognize that liberalism squashes opposing viewpoints. Ironically, for all the caterwauling from the left, it is conservatism where people are more free to hold and debate varying points of view. Conservatism is the movement of liberty. People don't haveto be told that; they just know it as soon as they start sniffing around politics. We are witnessing liberalism slipping into totalitarianism (or at least socialism) before our very eyes.

I agree with you. College campuses have done a complete flip-flop from the 60's. Now, the faculty is composed of bra-burning/flag burning (funny, they run in the same crowd) types in authority positions that they used to oppose on general principle. They are in effect, diametrically opposed to themselves, and it shows.

I have a 17yo nephew. He is pretty much non-political in words but bedrock conservative in deed.

He is graduating from HS this year and received a coveted scholarship to a prestigious University (not Ivy League-for us in flyover country Rice University is prestigious). I am enjoying helping him prepare for his baccalaureate adventure.

I am enjoying it.

I had to laugh. It seems that the CEO of Caterpillar doesn't think the stimulus will have him doing any rehiring anytime soon.

D'oh! Caterpillar CEO Contradicts President on Whether Stimulus Will Allow Him to Re-Hire Laid Off Workers
February 12, 2009 6:16 PM

EAST PEORIA, ILL. -- President Obama today repeated the claim we asked about yesterday at the press briefing that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., "said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off."

Caterpillar announced 22,000 layoffs last month.

But after the president left the event, Owens said the exact opposite.

Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, "I think realistically no. The truth is we're going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again"

"It is going to take some time before that stimulus bill" means re-hiring, he said.

Owens supports the stimulus plan, but said it would take some time to have an impact on his industry and "is a little light on the heavy construction."

Those darn facts just getting in the way again.:rotfl:

Of course if Bush has said this, it would be all over the media. Since Fearless Leader said it, it is just some blog posts.
:sad2:

It'll be okay. BO'll just make up something else. It's what he does best.

Me, too. Been a conservative since I can remember.

Sorry, sax, I forgot about you because you don't post much. Fraternizing is one thing; you still recognize them for what they are, though, so you still count. ;)

From that test out there on the CB, I am apparently perfectly moderate on economic issues and slightly right on social. Still like me?;) A few more sips of the coconut blue kool-aid and I may slip to the dark side.

WHAT?!! No A&M!?

Just kidding. Congrats to your nephew on Rice. Great school. Great expenses.;) (guess he doesn't have to worry about that)

I came out..three squares to the right.. on economic issues and one square in the libertarian quad...so I guess, I'm a right libertarian? That's what I always thought I was. Not, radical...just reasonably right.;)

I'm a right Libertarian as well. Solidly right on economic issues and just below the line on social issues. No surprise there.

Our family has sent in our pics as well. I am really curious as to what he has planned. I guess we will find out on March 13. If you go ahead and start a thread just be forewarned, the Libs go NUTS when Glenn Beck is mentioned.

:goodvibes

Yeah. believe me I gave the ole Alma Mater my full endorsement. He got a pretty good deal with a music scholarship.......but it isn't a full ride (still expensive). I like that he is staying in town though (selfish of me). He lived with us well over half his life.........and I'm just not ready to let go yet......:sad1:

He really didn't want to shave his head in "The Corps" is my personal opinion why A&M didn't work.

There's always grad school I suppose (worked for me)! :)

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

ElizK- I emailed GB my picture. And sent him a lengthy email. I love this campaign. I'd love to start a thread about it, but too many people would be nasty about it.:guilty:

I'm not catching up. Tutto Italia was wonderful!!!!!:goodvibes And we watched Illuminations too. I'll tell more tomorrow. I'm going to check the unicorn thread and then go bed....

G'night!!:grouphug:
