I was looking at deluxe family ocean view with verandah on deck 5 of the fantasy. category 4E. The two rooms I would like do not connect, but I was wondering if the verandahs would connect?

Most likely. I always check cruisedeckplans dot com to see if there are photos of the cabins and verandas I am interested in. Sometimes location of the cabin also changes whether the seperators on the veranda can be unlocked by the cabin host/hostess.

This was our situation on our first cruise. The connecting verandahs were very convenient.

There *are* some cabins on Deck 5 that have verandahs that have a separation between them - so if your cabins are those (no, I don't know which ones they are off the top of my head - I just know that they are not all one huge row like the ones on the upper decks) then there is no way to connect the verandahs.
