I read online that if you have connecting staterooms with verandas, then the partition can be removed to connect the verandas on the Dream and Fantasy.

Has anyone done this or better yet have pictures? We are sailing in connecting cabins on the Fantasy and would love to be able to take 2 smaller verandas and make them one larger veranda!! :cheer2:

We did it on the 3/31/12 sailing of the Fantasy. Sorry no pictures. Actually since we were let on so early and into our rooms by 11AM, the partition was actually still open from them cleaning the balcony. We just told our stateroom host to keep it open and he got the key to lock it into place. Yes, you do get one big balcony, but the partition only is half of the wall, not a big deal, but just wanted to let you know.

We also did it but no pictures. Any of the locking verandahs can be unlocked and folded back. We just had to be careful to remember to have the blinds clothes when changing our clothes. :cool2:

We had 3 cabins side by side on our cruise and it was wonderful to have the partitions open! The 6 grandkids could go back and forth without someone having to open the hall door every time. We never worried about their safely, the rails are very high.

We had 3 cabins on the Dream all next to each other and they were able to open them all. 2 of the rooms were connecting but the third wasn't and we were still able to have them opened so I don't think it is limited to connecting rooms only. I do have some photos that show it but don't know how to post them here. If you would like to PM me your email addy I would be happy to send them.

Oh I'm so happy to hear this! I have asked about this in the past. We were on the Dream last year but didn't have a verandah. We're booked next year on deck 8 aft and we have 3 rooms side by side (2 are connecting) and have been wondering if we would be able to open the dividers on all 3. Is this true of all decks do you think, or just certain ones? What rooms were you in that you were able to do this?
Thanks!

We were in 7634, 7636 and 7638. I had heard that you could only open the verandah on connecting rooms but when we asked the stateroom host he said it wasn't a problem and could open all 3. It was really nice. I think they can probably do this on all the rooms.

We were on the Dream last summer in 8106-8108-8110-8112. 6/8 connected and 10/12 connected. We kept all partitions open between all rooms. It was great! All of the 7 kids and 8 adults could come and go without ever going into the hall. There was no worry about getting locked out in the hall or knowing where someone was. Railings were high and safe. Many games throughout the week ranged from one room to the next, and the adults could share adult beverages between refrigerators! Being out on the veranda with four rooms of open space made all of the rooms seem that much bigger. We loved it!

Enjoy your trip!

Just beware on deck 10 Dream Class, on the sides of the ship. Not all veranda partitions open due to structural elements, even some with connecting inside doors.

Here are some photos of the connecting state rooms on deck 5 on the Dream. Sorry I don't remember the room #'s The verandas on deck 5 are deeper than the other decks.

Aboard the Fantasy we had 4 cabins together on deck 7 midship (portside) and had the dividers removed so we could move freely from cabin to cabin.

Here is a picture looking forward:

Yep! We had connecting rooms but our verandahs did not connect. :( We were in 10060 and 62 I believe.

Did you notice the pattern? Is it every 4 or 6 cabins with the non connecting veranda door?
Even DCL struggles with this question of whether / which deck 10 verandas connect.:confused3

I remember someone else posting about this and I want to say they were in 10020 and 22.

I do know that 10062 and 64 connected (I think it was those) basically our verandah connected with the room we were NOT connected with. Hopefully they fixed this on the Fantasy.

We sailed The Fantasy on 4/7/12 and had connecting rooms 7620 & 7622 ... the connecting verandahs were nice ... made for a huge balcony! Just ask your stateroom attendant if they are closed when you board.

A talked to someone at DCL and she told me that they don't have any kind of master list as to which cabins had connecting verandas and which don't. She did tell me that not all do connect. :-( Bummer. We are in 7186 & 7184.

You should be fine with verandas connecting and opening on 7. It's only on deck 10 that not all open. HTH

Sad to read this. We are booked with a large group (cabins 10630, 28, 26, 24, 22 and 20) and I told everyone we could probably open our balconies up. This is aft part of the ship. Anyone know if those verandahs connect?

Your going to have one or more that don't connect. Could you move to deck 9?
Call and ask about deck 10, although this is a tough subject for accurate info.

You did say "probably" though. Perhaps some adults would prefer the ones that don't connect. How about a kids balcony and an adults balcony. Rearrange once you see the configuration.

I would be upset if I asked about this, and was assured they all connected, even though details on this particular issue are elusive I would try somehow to call DCL maintenance or something if you HAVE to know. You would think Shore Side CS would have this info by now.

FWIW. You are not the only one caught off guard concerning deck 10 veranda connections.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hope I'm wrong, and/or it all works out.:goodvibes
