I booked a trip to WDW with my adult daughter in January. The two of us are on the same airline confirmation number. My 15 year old son has now decided that he would like to come with us. I'm about to book his air travel today.

Since we live in Maine and since we are traveling in early January, the chances are reasonably high that weather might impact our flights (either delays or rescheduling). Is there a way that I can link my and my adult daughter's confirmation number to my 15 year old son's so if weather strikes and we are rerouted/rescheduled they don't split us up leaving him by himself?

If it matters we are on Air Tran on the way down and on Jet Blue on the way back. Both flights are currently direct flights.

Frankly I wouldn't care if they put him and her together and let me go by myself but I don't want him to be stuck somewhere alone -- especially considering that sometimes it can take several days for airlines to play catch up after a major snow storm.

I would think a call to both carriers is in order. You're going to have to be calling them anyway, so why not start there.

By the way, direct and nonstop are not the same thing. A direct flight is one which a flight makes one or more stops but you don't change planes. A nonstop is a flight that gets to your destination with no stops.

Definitely call and link them. DH and I flew with DD (23 yrs old)to Jacksonhole .....flight was late getting in and only DH and I were able to get on the next flight....we opted not to and had to wait 8 hours so the 3 of us could fly together.

I would call the airlines. I had to do that on Delta when DH and one of my girls used airl miles for their ticket and the other 2 tickets (mine and other DD) was seprate. I had us linked so we would be sitting together and just in case their was any changes we would be together.

One negative of booking two different airlines. Weather issues cause you to cancel your trip. AirTran refunds your money. You're within a day of the storm and the refund policy is on their website. Under those circumstances AT would refund your return flight.

There is no weather reason why you can't make your return Jet Blue flight. Your return flight might be a week after the storm. Jet Blue is a customer friendly airline. They'll probably agree to refund your return flight. They don't have to. They could tell you to make a claim on your travel insurance policy. Didn't buy one? You're out of luck. or They might give you a full (or partial) credit toward future travel.

Worth the risk if the savings are significant. Not worth the risk if the savings are nominal.

PP answered your question. Call your airline. They can probably link your reservations.
