Confusion on our SSR add on.

I just talked with QA.

Krista stated that we can book on Dec. 1 as SSR owners for stays that take place after the resort opening ONLY.

So we can't, for instance, call on Dec. 1 and use our SSR pts to book a stay at any other DVC resort for any date before May 17.

Is this true.

I have been reading otherwise on these boards for weeks.

What is the correct answer?

I was told you couldn't use points until after SSR opened but you could start booking Dec.1 for everywhere within your 7 month window.

When I called MS I was told we could book resorts other than SSR beginning Dec. 1 if it was within our 7 month window but not before the opening of SSR. We cannot use the SSR points until the deeds are recorded which won't take place until Apr/May of 2004. We cannot use what we technically do not own. So yes, you can book at another DVC resort for a reservation not beginning before May 17, 2004 but that is also not more than 7 mos. out, which I think would be July 1, 2004.

Another reason you can't use SSR points to book a stay anywhere prior to the opening of SSR is that for members at SSR to be able to "trade" for a stay at another DVC resort, members at those other resorts must be able to "trade" for a stay at SSR. Of course they don't call this a trade....but the idea is that the number of points in use cannot be more than the number of points worth of rooms that are available.

It was the same when we bought at BCV. I couldn't stay ANYWHERE until the new property opened on July 1st. It about killed me to wait, but we wound up at BCV on opening day and it was so exciting...
