Confused about Timeshare Closing Services Letter

We closed on our 60pt SSR resale contract back in August and I just received a letter and the original recorded Warranty Deed from TCS. There are a couple of things in the letter that I'm a little confused about and wonder if someone here can shed some light for me. First, "As a first year owner, we encourage you to contact the resort prior to making plane reservations or the onset of travel. This will allow enough time to obtain a pre-arrival package or confirm your arrival at the resort." Who am I supposed to contact - SSR directly? What pre-arrival package?

They also "urge you to maximize your new purchase by joining your affiliated exchange company" What does this mean?

I THINK it's a standard form letter from TCS, and it addresses things you don't need to worry about with DVC. Many time shares provide a pre-arrival package for new owners, to get their personal info, maintenance needs/wants, and other pertinent info. DVC doesn't do that. Ditto on the "confirming arrival at your resort". You do that by booking your time with DVC. With "owning a specific week" timeshares, you aren't booking so need to alert the resort you're actually going to BE in your timeshare, and it's not remaining empty.

I have no experience with the letter you're referring to, but we've been members for 8 years and never once have I contacted the resort directly to confirm. Once you make your ressie through member services, you'll receive a confirmation. Personally, once I make my ressie I go ahead and make airline reservations. And DVC doesn't do a pre-arrival package. I'm guessing this is a form letter for other timeshares.

As to "joining your affiliated exchange company" there is nothing to do there either with DVC. You are automatically in DVC's exchange program (where you can trade out your points for use in your DVC resort so you can stay somewhere other than DVC) which includes non-DVC Disney hotels, a world passport collection (you can trade out to places in the US and other countries), and the ability to exchange for other places through an exchange company, Interval International.
