Confused about pre-paying for room

At Disney, if you want to pay off your room before arrival, you just call and do it. I tried to do that at Universal, but they said they don't do that. I must fill out a third party authorization and send a copy of my credit card with it? I'm not really comfortable with this.

Does anyone know why they won't accept final payment over the phone?

It's not a big deal, I can just pay when we get there, but I was hoping to get it taken care of prior to arrival.

you go through the accounting/billing department to do so.

contact them thru the ressie number.
ask to be transfer to them.


if you have a package, it must be prepaid in full before you go.
if you are doing room only, you have to request the payment card set up.

It's room only . So are you saying that I can do this over the phone?

I'm so confused! They e-mailed me the authorization form, saying that I need to fill it out and send in a copy of my credit card (front and back). I am just not comfortable with that.

I have been paying my reservations this way ,and never had any problems.
I usually fax it to them along with CC details and Driving licence

I've done this for 4 years and have never encountered a problem. Doing it again this year. Very safe.

they do that in case you have merch or dining charges on your hotel key.
or any movies you rented in your room or miscellaneous things.

Thanks, I realize that, I just meant that we'll pay the balance of the hotel room there instead of pre-paying. When I go to Disney, I like to pay off the room prior to arrival. It's a simple procedure, just call and pay it off.

I am not comfortable with Universal's method. Faxing both sides of my credit card and my driver's license just seems like an unsecure process. It could get faxed to the wrong place, or end up in the wrong hands, so many things could go wrong. Identify theft is a huge issue these days, so I'm just trying to be safe. I realize many have had no problems, and I'm sure it's a fairly safe process, but it is not something I am comfortable with.

I can definitely understand your hestitation......better safe than sorry.

As far as paying off the balance of your total room rate upon arrival......Are you using charging privies in the parks?

Now, if you have charging privies to your room key, the amount of money you say you have applied to your room rate to pay it in full, is actually being treated like a prepayment to your total room acct. So, say you "paid the room in full" at check-in. On night #1, you eat dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. The next day, when you view your room acct on the tv, it will show your beginning credit, minus the 1 night room rate, minus the dinner at Hard Rock Hotel. Then, it will show a remaining credit. You really have not paid the room in full in the sense that you are thinking.

Thanks . We've been to both Universal and Disney and charged to our room every time. I just wanted the actual room itself to be paid for. That way, all we would owe is whatever we decide to spend while there . There is no advantage to doing it this way. But, I feel better when I get the final bill when checking out because the shock of the true amount of what we spent isn't there. Or should I say, it doesn't shock my poor husband as much when he doesn't see it combined , lol.

If I pre-pay the balance before I go and the rate drops a little will I be able to call and see if they can credit back the difference? I would like to pre-pay so I wouldn't have to worry about it to much and concentrate on spending money!
