*Confirmed* G+ Changes to Advanced Lightning Lane

I would say that the fact that you're doing research on it now already gives you a big advantage over a lot of people - you're going to go in knowing the basics of how it works, some strategies for getting the most out of it, etc. A lot of people who end up dissatisfied with it went in just expecting it to work and be self-explanatory (not making an argument that it SHOULDN'T be easier to use - just the facts of the situation).
Except if they change to the new system by January (which is very possible). Then no amount of research into the existing system will help.

It's part of a larger problem. People feel entitled to benefits or accommodations they haven't paid for/ deserve and will game anything they can.

Wanting everyone to be treated the same at the parks is entitlement. Plain and simple.

It's why this system doesn't work and why no other park does it this way. Waiting in lines is part of going to a theme park.

"We've always done it this way. This is the way it's done."

That's the way theme parks used to work. Being able to access crowd data, data through reservations, apps and mapping has opened up a new way to design a theme park. Lines are going to be a thing of the past.

Lines will be here as long a people are willing to wait and others are willing to pay to avoid them.
And it's been that way quite a long time, and Disney is far from the only place. People who spend more at casinos certainly don't wait in long lines at the buffet! If you're willing to pay a few dollars, you can drive in the 'express' lanes on the highway and reduce your traffic congestion in the 'regular' lanes. If you pay and get approved TSA, you can go through airport security faster....

It's everywhere.....

Lines as we knew it will change but IMO there will always be standby. There will be an upcharge for having low waits.

I will say your first line is exactly the problem with Genie+. It's wanting everyone to be treated the same and also why it doesn't work. It should be priced much higher and limited.

I wonder if they will go back and give resort guest more advantages with the revamp?

We cut way back until FL residents, resort guests and APs get better benefits. The bang for buck advantage has swung pretty far in the direction of other parks and types of vacation.
The dollar's relative strength means I could visit Europe for the same price as going to EPCOT, staying and doing everything onsite.

Whatever changes they're planning to G+/ILL, if there are any changes, really should be announced soon, wouldn't you think?! Maybe I have faulty thinking with the Jan 9th date in my head for other changes going into effect. Seems like a good day to make all changes - although, there is the IT aspect, isn't there?!!

Probably less, unless you go somewhere expensive (like Switzerland). Switzerland does have Disney-like prices.

If they were going to do that, I would imagine they'd announce it well ahead of time in order to spur room reservations. People book their rooms months ahead of time. Of course, if the changes won't be effective until next summer or later, there's still loads of time. But I doubt we'll have a January change that includes an onsite perk. I hope I'm wrong. I'm going in January and am staying onsite.

I have a feeling it will be Janurary or February. With park reservations going away, Disney will be using advanced G+ ride selection data to staff their parks.

You're right - they really should be announcing this soon.

I just hope whatever they choose will be simpler, less phone dependent and more affordable. I know the last part isn't happening. And I SO hope they will stick with whatever they choose for awhile. Learning something new like this is exhausting.
That last one isn't happening. If anything I can totally see whatever they come up with next being even more expensive.

Definitely. People are starting to miss out on the experience, because they have to spend too much time planning.

Right. They won't do it by January.

I'm afraid the second aspect won't be happening, either. Disney is obviously trying to put more and more park-related tasks on people's smartphones.

I still worry about people who want to go to Disney's parks and don't have smartphones, but I suppose at this point those people also can't afford the entry tickets anyway, so maybe my concern is fruitless.
