I heard they are not doing the Country Bears Christmas show this year. Is this true? I e-mailed WDW and got two canned responses that said nothing.

I heard it was an expense thing. I don't buy it. It's not a major overlay like the DL Haunted Mansion Holiday. They have a different audio track and they have to recostume some of the characters. That would take all of four hours to do? The Jamboree is my favorite attraction at MK...I look forward to the Christmas edition every year (yes, I know that's sad...). I think I'll call them and let them know they've ruined Christmas. Jesus would have wanted to hear Big Al bring in the New Year. Happy Birthday, Jesus... :sad2:

It may be time to move those bears out...

Perish the thought! Though I admit, it needs a MAJOR rehab. It's bad when the clicking joints are louder than the audio track.
They already killed the Tiki Room, don't take the Bears.

Cost is the reason. Why spend the cash on the overlay when the crowds will be there for the holiday season regardless of the overlay happening or not?

I can think of a few reasons.

Its true, No Christmas show for the bears this year. I spoke with someone at the WDW executive offices last week. She did say that they were monitoring guest comments regarding the cancellation and it could return for 2007. She mentioned that they had recieved a high volume of guest comments regarding the decision to cancel the show. I guess there's hope for next year.

1) I heard it was just too costly.
2) It blew the budget for the 4th Quarter.
3) The extra $20 was needed as part of Iger's bonus for cost containment activities.

How are the crowds at this thing normally? Haven't done it in years. :confused3

Please tell Disney why they should change something that isn't broken? People line up to sit in there no matter what... despite the idea to make something different, or give a neat little atmosphere change, they figure blaring christmas music through the park speakers will do fine enough... why change rides? guests will ride them. and if they dont like to ride them they will spend money in the shops instead. Ka-ching. Ka- ching. and it costs them the 6 bucks they are paying the guy changing tapes (becuase they don't want to spend the 5 dollars on cd versions) rather then paying 3 technicians 12 bucks an hour to change some costumes and upload the the christmas show... saves them like 120 dollars, and as they fade out seasonal changes, in a couple years they won't have to worry about guests having pesky memories of a time when disney still made things special for their visitors.

but can one really blame them? think of all those poor disapointed igner family kids when they find out the company spent .0001 percent of his christmas bonus on making memories for someone else.
