Conclusion - Need to Book FP+ as soon as possible

oh your poor head.

My poor husband hated clean slate of fp-.

He isn't your Disney ride ever ride kind of person, he loves fp+, he loves express passes at universal better, he loved the volunteer year and pick fp passes with out tickets.

He is in the 90% ish of people that would go to Disney with no plan, but airplane tickets and hotel.

Basically he doesn't care, he would rather wake up and pick what/ where he wants that day and then change it mid stream.

fp+ seems to fit the avg Disney goer. Not the disboard uber planner.

Interestingly enough, I don't have a problem with FP+, although I thought I would. I AM one to book as soon as is humanly possible. I actually don't doubt I could have a fine trip without my spreadsheets and advance planning, but I'm fearful that I would get there and find something I didn't know about, and be shut out of it because I didn't research/plan/book to death.

Well then you probably remember when the big fights were on regular television, too! I was in an elevator with Joe Theisman once. He was really really short and pretty much an idiot. But then again, I am a Cowboys fan so I may have been a little biased. LOL

They seemed to fight a lot more back then, I don't watch as much television now because of all the violence so I don't know if the fights are still on or not but I do remember watching bungle in the jungle with Ali and that other person, the one who made the electric hotplates? I can't remember his name? But that was pretty much the last fight I watched.

The loss of the clean slate is probably my biggest issues with FPP (ok maybe the tiering in Epcot and DHS comes first)

Anyway. To me, the loss of the clean slate means I can't easily move days around once I am there due to weather, a kid barfing, a bad night's sleep, or just preference.

Yes, sure I can TRY to move things around. But I'm probably not going to be able to get back the rides with the times that I wanted.

This happened on a trip since FP, I wanted to move our DHS day...NO FPS for TSMM the night before, none, nada, zip. That's the loss of the clean slate. In the past, as long as we got up early, we could start at whatever park we wanted with no disadvantage. This was during the end of August too, so not exactly a super high-crowd time.

I don't think you're lying and I am glad you had good success. It is certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

I don't think that means the average person can book any FP they want "day of". I don't think it means they can book any headliner they want "day of". I think there's *some* availability, and people are constantly moving things around, and there's always the luck of the draw.

Really, I don't doubt you had a great trip/trips and that you're happy about that.

It simply means "possible" is not the same as "probable".

WOW! People we are suppose to be on vacation in the the most magical place on earth. My family has not been to Dis since the new FP system and I can honestly say after reading these post, I'm not liking it, it has taken away a little of the Pixie Dust for me . Things used to be so simple with the old FP

Awwww that's unfortunate . Well if you still feel that way after trying out the new system, you can always go to Disneyland instead!

I still want to know from those who say there is no need to book fp's in advance how to do the following. We were just able to get BOG for dinner on May 10th. We want the following fp's near our dinner at BOG which is 7:45pm. 7Dmt, Jungle Cruise and Wishes after dinner. Ive been able to finally get Wishes, and JC but not 7dmt. So if we don't "need" to book fp's in advance how do we get a fp for it ?
Simple answer is that it isn't going to happen so now we have to do 2 separate days at MK (the day we originally have for 7dmt and the day we have for BOG). I guess of course we could just wait in a hour line (like that is going to happen) or geez I guess we could just get a same day fp for it....oops nope that isn't going to happen either, although from the title of the other thread the newbie might think so....lol
Guess for us the good thing is is that we can now do 6 things at mk, throw in maybe 1 or 2 without fp's and get in and get out of the parks within fewer hours leaving us more time for non Disney stuff in Orlando ea day.

Haha I hear ya! I have 2500 between me and disneyland. Apparently it's so good though that I should make the trek soon. I want to ride the new cars ride and I love the indy one.

I don't think anyone is saying you never need to book in advance. What they're saying is it is possible to visit with no planning in advance and have a great time and it is.

Of course, if you want to eat at what is the most popular place in the park and ride what is the most popular ride in the park in a very specific time frame, you're pretty much a heavy planner anyway and should book asap.

If you're willing to accept that some rides may not be available at specific times, and you truly enjoy visiting with no plans at all- well you wouldn't have made adr's to start with and you can still go and have a great time.

I was very close to booking it for this year. Very very close. But we opted instead to visit friends in OR. Still doing the crazy long drive from NY to the west coast, but no Roger Rabbit or Carsland.
