We are planning to go to DL in June and stay at the GCH concierge floor. We stayed there in '05 and would really like to again as a family celebration. We're inviting 2 other families to go with us, but I'm not sure they'll want to spend the money for concierge. Is it going to be a big deal if we all don't stay on the concierge floor?? Has anyone done this before??
TIA!

Not sure I understand your question: is it (1) will we have as good a time if we elect not to go with the concierge since our friends didn't/won't pay for it and won't be able to utilize the facility? or (2) our friends won't/can't pay for concierge but can we get them in anyway or (3) how difficult will it be if we can go to the concierge floor and our friends can't so we might have separate itineraries?

Not sure what type of "big deal" you are talking about--please clarify.

I'm asking if it's a hassle that we'll be taking advantage of the concierge services and our friends will not. We would plan on eating most of our meal, except lunch, in the lounge, but they would be on their own.

Trust me, if I'm paying the extra $$$ and my friends choose not to, I would not be letting them take advantage of the services.

I think it will depend on your relationship with them. If they are comfortable "being on their own" for part of the day while you and your family are enjoying the lounge then it should not be a problem. However, if this is their first trip and they will otherwise be "lost" on their own then it might cause some friction. But in that case I would probably "pre-plan" for them (i.e., why don't you go have breakfast at . . . . . . (with map) and we will meet you at the Walt statue at 9 a.m.) If they really want to be "joined at the hip" with you then I could see it presenting a problem but with some advanced planning it is avoidable.

If it was me, I wouldn't want the "joined at the hip" thing anyway, so would probably plan "together time" each day that would not interfere with your concierge lounge usage. I think they will have a better time too--my experience is being on your own forces you to explore the resort more than if someone is leading you.

Thanks for clarifying your intentions--it really wasn't clear to me at all as to what you were asking (and unfortunately, having an AP and being at Disneyland several times in the last few months I've run into too many people at DLR who wouldn't think twice of taking advantage of a situation--so I tend to be cynical).

Bumping up to see if anyone else has had experience with part of your party staying concierge with others not.
