OK just spoke to my mom, and she wants to stay at the Poly or Grand Floridian when we go in October

I just looked up the price at the Poly for October.
Concierge Lagoon view is $540 a night.
Expedia says this is a special rate.

Isn't this a bit high????

Has anyone stayed there paying this rate? If so, was it worth it in your opinion?

I looked at the Floridian Concierge. Expedia special rate $640.

Are you really pampered staying in concierge at these two hotels? Can anyone compare them to other hotels at this rate?

We have not actually stayed at the Poly yet, but I love it already just because of all the pre-planning and other amazing stuff they can do for you. All I had to do was e-mail them and they set up all of our PS's and gifts for the room. I think a lot of people expect too much when they get there and that's why they are unhappy. Of course this is just my opinion, but the services beforehand were enough for me.

Maybe wait to see if there is a code rate. I don't know, I could do the 4 night Disney cruise for $499pp CAT 10 so I don't think I would pay that:)

Wow. That does seem high. Of course I also convert to Canadian $ which is (approx.) over $700.00. :teeth:

Personally, I don't think the conceirge is worth that money. I've stayed in the Yacht's and while it is very nice, there is no way you get an additional couple of hundred dollars worth of benefits unless you eat and drink quite a bit. I know you can sometimes get reservations at restaurants that maybe you couldn't of gotten any other way, but not sure that is important to you. We were out doing things more then in the hotel so we only benefited from the continental breakfast and the evening desserts. I think next time it would be more reasonable to go downstairs to a bar or restaurant and order a drink and a piece of cake. Just my opinion....depends on your schedule!! Good luck with your decision.

You could try either DC or AAA which would give you about $496 a night tax included. I think that is a little high unless you have your heart set on it.

Way, way too high. Poly's nice, but there's a point of diminishing returns. For me, that point is about $200/night. No way would I spend that high amount for just a room, even if concierge was part of the deal.

I'd stay someplace less expensive and go to some nice restaurants, instead. There's a ton of great places to eat at WDW. If I were paying $500+ a night for concierge, I'd feel compelled to never leave the resort. And, that's not how I like to spend time at WDW. I like to get out and see everything that's offered.

But, to each his/her own! :D Have fun!

Unless you're planning on staying in your room a lot to enjoy the view, I wouldn't pay that much. I like luxury but only if I can get it at a discount. We're paying $225.00 a night at the AKL for savanna view and I thought that was too much but the price on Expedia was $350.00 a night. I got it cheaper by calling the hotel directly. If you have the extra money go ahead and splurge, but your right, you can do a cruise for that much.

The $540 for Poly is actually higher than Disney's rack rate quoted on Disneyworld.com for that room type for October, regular season. Disney's rack rate is $525. So I would say no, please don't book that LOL. If you're going to go with rack rate, then book directly through Disney. But I would certainly try to get some type of discount, such as AAA or DC or do the FTP or something. The $640 rate for the GF is the same as Disney's rack rate for a main building concierge room for October, so no discount there either. Expedia usually is rack rate for Disney onsite resorts for room-only reservations, unless there's a code out for the general public, when sometimes they will apply those. Also recently Expedia has made it so that you can't book a room-only Disney resort reservation for less than 3 nights on there.

heart4pooh you took the words right out of my mouth. While I love the Poly $540 a night is a lot of money to pay. Now tack on park tickets, at least one meal, a snack or 2 in the park and maybe a souvenir a day.

Disney is one of my favorite places, but for this kind of money you could go first class anywhere in the world.

IMO $500+ is a lot to pay for that! It sounds like a rack rate. You are basically paying for a view and snacks for the day. I'd wait for a code or book it when a good package deal comes along.

Thanks for your imput.

I think the regular room rate is way too high, and that is exactly what I told my mom. I am with you. Give me a cruise cat. 10 instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer the dolphin or swan.

We honeymmoned at the Poly Concierge last Sept and we both agreed that it wasn't worth it $$ wise to choose Lagoon view over Garden. Garden view gave us a nice view of the lush gardens and the quiet pool in the near distance and when we wanted to view the fireworks or the Spectro magic parade all we had to do was walk 3 feet out the door and around the other side of the building to sit on a nice hammock and see what others paid hud\ndreds more for with the same view... If it's that important to be able to see the fireworks wile still inside your room or on it's patio then go for it.. But if you want the same concierge services and have extra moneyto do other things with then maybe a Poly garden view would be a still wonderful option for you. We're heading back to celebrate our 2 yr aniversary ther and we'd be thrilled to get our room again. 5019 for those who are curious. Best of luck with however you choose to celebrate your trip.

You do realize that you could go to the Carribbean on a 5 night cruise, all your meals and entertainment and an entire ocean to view (not just a lagoon) for the cost of just one wittle night in the Poly's best room. You certainly will not eat that much concierge food to justify the cost. Personally, unless money is no object...the cost is outragous!

<h2>You could go on a cruise for $540 a person for a week.</h2>
<P>You could upgrade to a nicer cabin if they didn't just give it to you at this time of year.</p>
<P>I could spend a week in Brasil and party 24/7 on $540 a week.</p>
<P>I could have a nice 4 day weekend in the Bahamas for $540 a week.</p>
<P>I love Disney...</p>
<P>...but Disney is <b>not</b> worth $540 a night for a "regular" concierge room. Spend the extra money and get a suite or downgrade.</p>

If it helps you decide, we were able to get Poly Concierge last year for $357/night (AP rate). That was a lagoon view and included taxes. I think the price you were quoted is high. We were in the Hawaii building and the view was AWESOME. I think it was worth every penny that I paid. However, I don't think it is worth the quote you were given.

I would wait for a discount or stay elsewhere...just my opinion.

Sorry, but that cannot be a correct room number. All Polynesian room numbers begin with either a 1, 2, or 3. The first number indicates the floor and all Polynesian buildings are three stories. The second number indicates the building. "0" would indicate the Tahiti building. Is that the buidling where you stayed? The last two numbers indicate the specific room.
