Hi
We have a cruise reserved on Oct/22, a concierge suite for a party of 5. We might need to do change the plans but would like to hear your advices pls on the best way to manage…

if our deposit is non refundable, can we..?
A. Just switch same concierge suite to another date?
B. Change the party (reduce 2 pax) and keep the reserve?
C. Use the deposit to book 2 suites non concierge in another date?
D. Apply the deposit to another cruise already reserved, non concierge?

thanks!!

Concierge deposits are non-refundable. Historically DCL has allowed concierge deposits to be transferred to a future cruise. Either Concierge or non-concierge (but the deposit remains non-refundable, even if you switch it to non-concierge). Not sure it would be applicable to an already existing reservation.

I believe it would only be applicable one for one (one reservation for one, not split between two).

You cannot take one concierge booking and turn it into two non-concierge bookings. I tried to do this after we moved our October 2021 to September 2022. I had to cancel two people from the reservation, lose the deposit and then pay for them to have a new reservation. Their reservation is now considered not concierge but all the remainders on the original reservation are still under concierge status although in a non-concierge room.

I can confirm that you can move from concierge to non-concierge as I just did this, but they said like 5 times on the phone that my reservation would still have the cancellation terms as concierge. In my case, we were moving UP a concierge cruise from next summer to this month that was already past PIF, so the new cruise was already going to be in penalty mode anyway, so I didn't feel worried about.

You can't apply to an existing booking or split into two room bookings because it needs to retain the same reservation number to preserve the penalty rules. You can, however, cancel an existing booking (assuming there is no penalty for doing so) and right away rebook with your deposit from the concierge one. You would, however, have to pay current rates that way, which might not be worth it if you booked on or close opening day.

A. Yes
B. Yes
C. I don't know
D. You can change it to a nonconcierge stateroom on your current cruise or change to another nonconcierge date, but I don't know if it can be a cruise that you already have booked. It might need to be a new cruise.

Fyi I changed my answer to D after noticing "already reserved", which I hadn't noticed before.

Is there an expiration in the amount of time you have to use the credit to rebook another cruise? Or if you have to rebook immediately, may you change that booking down the road realizing that the deposit is still non refundable?

If you reduce the party (option B) you will lose the deposit associated with those 2 passengers. I just went through this when I changed names on a 2 room reservation and reduced the overall party by one.

Lose? Even after deciding for a non concierge, but fewer pax?

In my case I stayed in concierge, but afaik you can't get your concierge deposit back by simply moving to a non-concierge room. It is non-refundable, so if you delete two passengers you will lose their deposit.

Edit: @MomOTwins post above gives more background
