Regrettably, DH and I have decided to cancel our August trip to Big Cedar Lodge. :sad1: I won't be able to call MS today and I'm temporarily separated from my Member Guidebook, so I'm hoping someone can give me quick run down on how the cancellation will affect us.

The points were banked from 2004. Since we have April UY, I'm assuming they won't expire before 3/31/06. Right?

Will the points be put in any special status or have conditions on them? i.e., "holding" or something like that?

I understand and accept that we'll forfeit the $95 exchange fee, but are there any other costs involved?

TIA,
Kelley

Just so we're clear on this...you banked the points from '04 into '05, and then borrowed from '05 for the ressie...right? In that case, it would have been the banked points which came out first. Is that correct?

Correct. When you cancel, the points will be returned to your 2005 use year and will expire on 3/31/2006

The returned points will be "reservation" points. They will not be put into the holding account unless you cancel 30 days or less prior to the beginning of your stay.

Reservation points cannot be used to reserve a stay at a DVC resort or for an exchange via II. You'll need to use them for one of the options in the Disney Collection, the Conceirge Collectin or the Adventurer's Collection.

best wishes -

That's perfect! I was drafting a reply saying this was a complicated question, I didn't want to give you bad info, and I hoped Carol or Caskbill, or someone similiarly knowledgeable, would come along and give you an accurate answer. I looked up, and there's Carol!

You're far enough out with your cancellation that you only have to be concerned with DVC policy. When you get closer to the stay, you need to check the individual resort policies as well. For example, at 7 days or less you'd also forfeit one night on a Big Cedar Lodge stay.
