CR Resort fan 4 life-like jackemail said some are camera shy but others are big hams. The one coming into mind is Lorenzo. Linda, Anita, Jackie and JJ also have had their pictures taken with us on numerous occasions.

A Poly IPO update:

Exactly one hour after emailing them with a few questions (as a hint that I haven't heard from them;)), I received a reply from Kristina. While not overly enthusiastic (I thought the WL IPOs and Marijane from the CR/GF IPO were very enthusiastic), she did answer all my questions. She even replied that they don't have Sprite Zero or Coke Zero, but that they could get us some. And, they do have oatmeal in the summer, but no hard boiled eggs. Also, a lounge menu still isn't available, but I thought I'd ask. (I know it was years back.)

Hey, neighbor

.

Oh, wow ... we ARE neighbors ... when we use to drive we had that mile counter down to the exact mile 869 from door to door.

Tomorrow marks 60 more days for us ... can't wait.

I hear ya about changing resorts ... every year we make reservations at another resort besides the Polynesian ... and then every year we just can't resist the Polynesian. I just changed my reservations the other day back to the Polynesian!

After 3 emails with no response I finally called BC IPO. They had all emails but said the manager should contact me in 1-2 days. Really?:rotfl: All this fuss just to see if my request for a king bed and full balcony are attached to our ressie and some caffeine free diet soda (medical reasons I can't have caffeine or sugar). IPO told me caffeine free diet is not available in the lounge and that I would have to order the soda through private dining. :confused3 I now wish we would have booked a reg room at a different resort and ordered from Garden Grocer. We leave in 8 days...3 nights at the Pop followed by nights at the BC. Should be interesting :rotfl2:

Well, I'm confused. We stayed at the YC/CL last August and I asked one of the lounge CMs if they had Sprite Zero. She said they didn't have any, but she would see if she could "find" some. When we returned to our room that evening, there was a 12-pack of Sprite Zero sitting on our dresser. Also, I know that CRRF4L has mentioned that the CR and BWI have given his mother Sprite Zero, too.

I, too don't drink caffeine so the diet Sprite and diet 7-up drinks are perfect, though the Sprite Zero tastes the best, IMHO.

I would inquire again to see if the Poly and BC IPOs can't at least get you Sprite Zero because I know that it's possible if they want to. You should not even have to consider ordering through private dining. Are they kidding? I'm sorry you've gotten the run around. We were booked in a BC/ Deluxe room and then switched to YC/CL and now it's Poly/CL, so I understand the itch to switch, Sinderelly.

Oooo, a fellow resort changer (we have a thread for that, you know;)).

You're right about the mileage, I just rounded down a little:rolleyes1. I hope you have a great vacation and don't forget to file a TR here or on the Poly thread:goodvibes

I just wanted to be clear that it was in August 2010 when my Mom actually requsted the Sprite Zero and JJ got her 6 bottles of it. Then in December 2010 he got her a 12 pack of Sprite Zero in cans that was already in our fridge when we got to our room which we didn't request in advance, so that was because he remembered how she requested it during our previous stays. We had brought our own case down with us so she ended up with a lot more cans then expected.

I think it might be too late now to switch (scratch the itch). We leave in 8 days.:rotfl: I think you may have made a smart move switching to the Poly just from reading alot of posts about Poly CL although I can't say I've never stayed at the Poly. Have a magical stay and let us know how you like Poly CL.

I was also able to have a 'non standard' soda, I don't have caffeine so requested some caffeine free coke at the BWI (May 2010), when I checked in my fridge had been stocked with a number of cans :)

I was advised that although the lounge don't normally stock caffeine free coke, Disney does and as long as Disney stocks it they can get it free of charge.

It looks like I will be canceling my AKL CL ressie for Nov. We have decided to go to DL this Nov instead, then do a longer WDW trip in 2012 w/a split stay at YC & AKL CL. The only problem I have is that I can't seem to cancel AKL CL!

I actually asked several pre-leaving questions of the Poly IPO and made one request, before our trip last December, and several of the things I was told were no problem, were not done/was told were unavailable when we actually arrived at hotel.

Was told they could provide bathroom stepstool for short son in order to wash hands/brush teeth, etc.; received email from IPO that said, no problem, they'd have it waiting in room and made it sound as if it was common practice. Polynesian staff looked at me like I had horns growing out my ears when I asked about it after arrival.

Also asked about caffeine free diet soda and was told it was always available "by request," via pre-arrival emails. When we got there Polynesian staff directed me to gift shop where I could, "buy whatever I wanted" or, as the other poster mentioned, directed me to room service menu.

Neither was a huge deal, but I would say I wouldn't relay on what you were told via email. The departments (that answer email), from what I understand, aren't connected (to the actual hotel service folks) and I learned that even showing the email that says you were told that (as I did with stepstool) gets you nowhere, as they just shrug and say, 'Sorry we don't do that.'

First half the trip is now booked and sorted (BC CL), last 2 nights I still cannot make my mind up

I really do like the look of the AKL and I'd love to do the wanyama safari but the thing that is putting me off is the fact the standard CL rooms are not on the same level as the lounge, plus I prefer being in a keyed access building/area.

Would appreciate some feedback from those who have stayed at the AKL CL, is it very inconvenient with the rooms being on the 4th floor whilst the lounge is on the 6th floor?

Thanks

Hi all!!

Ok, I posted this on the Poly thread a few days ago, but I was wondering if any of you had some advice for me regarding..........

I am so bummed by an email from IPO!

It is the letter that tells you what to do upon arriving at the resort. It clearly states that if I DID do online check-in, that I have to head to the front desk. If I did NOT do online check-in, I can be treated like royalty and be escorted to the club level office, etc... NOT FAIR. How can I UNDO my online check-in???? I paid WAY too much money for my mom to get the star treatment than to have to check in with the "nothin' special" approach. I know I'm acting like a baby about it, but with all the money I just pulled out of savings for my mom and MIL to have a once-in-a-lifetime trip on Mother's Day... well, you got my point, right?

You can't undo online check-in, but what you can do, is pretend you never did it.

DISCLAIMER: I have never done this personally or read that someone did this, but my best instinct tells me that this should work!

When you arrive at the Poly, tell either the gate guard or the bellman at the entrance that you're staying club level. They will then take you over to the Hawaii bldg. (or you can walk over) and that's where you'll check-in. You can then tell the concierge that you accidentally did online check-in.

Forget the GCH check-in - just go straight to the Hawaii bldg. to check-in.

We just got back a week ago and stayed AKL CL. AKL is my favorite resort anywhere, so I am just happy to stay there, but I did find that the CL rooms were very inconvenient with access to the 6th floor. Part of the reason for this is they also put us way down the hall, so it was quiet which was awesome and our view was spectacular, but it was a LONG walk to get to CL back & forth, especially after being in the parks all day. Would I do it again? Absolutely!!! The safari was one of the greatest things we have ever done in WDW....But, the location was inconvenient and I would have preferred being on the same floor where the food and CL CM's are. I hope this helps. :goodvibes

We stayed at the CR Club Level in January and I ended up with food poisoning (not from the CR) and was unable to leave the room. My husband went to the lounge and asked Holly if they had ginger ale she told them they didn't keep any in the lounge but would get some. Within 10 minutes Holly had sent some up to our room for us free of charge.

During my recent stays there I remember they had Ginger Ale available with their other drinks in the lounge, unless they stopped offering it when you there. Still that was great how she was able to get some for you very fast.
