I hate getting separated! On our last trip, my hubby and I split up...he took our youngest to Monsters Inc. while I went to space mountain with our oldest. Well, Space was shut down, and he left his phone in the room. We tried to catch them in Monsters but of course didn't. I spent 30 minutes walking back and forth around Tomorrowland looking for them, in the rain, and on the verge of tears! I FINALLY found them coming out of Buzz! I don't know what I would have done if I didn't find them! Glad you found your mom!

So, did your mom like Nemo? I only saw it once years ago. I LOVE FOTLK but I'm thinking I should probably give Nemo another go.

She did, haha I forgot to mention that. She didn't love it as much as I did, but she said she really enjoyed it.

September 17th, 2015 (Part 3)

"You Can Beat the Bush Like There's No Tomorrow
From Tanganyika to Kilimanjaro!"
We passed King Louie on the way to Kilimanjaro. Casual.

I loved this little canal. It probably has no purpose but Disney is all about their theming!

Yay! We got to Harambe, and smelled even more delicious smells coming from their restaurants!

We made it to Kilimanjaro and scanned our bands to be let in line! Even with a FP+ we probably waited 10-15 minutes. I took this time to decide what I wanted for lunch. I chose Yak and Yeti because I’ve heard such good things about it! I offered to walk with Mom over to FlameTree BBQ then back to Yak and Yeti but she said she would rather just eat with me and not have to walk all the way over there. I don’t blame the woman.
I also saw a Mickey Mouse CM (Mickey Mouse was code for cute on my May2014 trip) who was directing the lines. I tried and failed to get a creeper picture for my friend Katherine (Hey tecake! I know you’re reading this! Love you). I think she still appreciated my efforts.

We boarded our caravan and set off on an adventure. Here was the sign above our heads showing all the animals we might see.

I took a picture of that sign because I thought it was supposed to be Rafiki’s depiction of Simba but now I realize that’s totally off.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the order of the animals we saw so I’m just going to spam you. Okay? Okay!

SO we made it to like the African plains maybe? I think it was the area where they talk about the termites. And we stopped and waited, and waited, and WAITED for a good 30 minutes. We were all backed up due to some curious animals.

While this was hot and uncomfortable, I applaud our tour guide for trying to keep our attention and Disney for appreciating that these are living animals and not spectacles that must be trained to stay out of the way.

Once we finally got moving, we made it up to the giraffes and got stopped again. Our tour guide said they are one of the most curious of animals and like to come to the road to investigate the people which caused the drivers to have to stop. On the plus side, The Giraffes got SUPER close!

Once we passed by them we were finally moving at normal speed and got to see the rest of the animals.
The elephants were SO adorable!!

I think all of them were out which was super cool to see! I especially like seeing the lions because it’s one of the only pictures we have from Animal Kingdom on our first family trips of this ride. See?

Wow, camera quality has really improved
Because of our great backup, we didn’t get out of there until a little after 2:00. I enjoyed this! I don't think I will do it every visit but it was definitely a very up close experience and a nice way to sit down for a while. Hot Momma REALLY enjoyed this. Even when I mentioned how long we had to sit there she said she really didn't mind!
So by this time we were pretty hungry. I had planned for us to eat dinner around park closing at 5 so Hot Momma and I didn’t want to stuff ourselves only to eat 3 hours later. So we set out in the direction of Yak and Yeti!

Oh, I see! That's really cool! Netflix in the U.S. never puts current shows on there... We have to wait a year or more if we want to watch it back. But I agree it's a lot of curses and such but they try to keep it interesting! Haha!

September 17th, 2015 (Part 4)

"It's The Circle of Life"
We were heading to Yak and Yeti for lunch! I say Yak and Yeti but I don’t mean the table service (although I do want to go there one day). We were going to the quick service location!

I have heard very good things about this place and was very excited to try. There was a short line but I didn’t mind because the sun had finally come out and the place is near where they always have a DJ and dancers just hanging out and dancing all day with guests so I loved watching everyone! The CM who rung us up was very sweet and told us the weather was supposed to be sunny and warm for the next two days. We were very excited to hear that. Hot Momma and I decided to just share a meal. Here’s the menu:

We went for the Roasted Vegetable Couscous Wrap. The menu doesn’t tell you but the roasted vegetables are: peppers, zucchini, and onions. It came with a side of grapes and fried rice (YUM).
We got our food within 5 minutes and went around the side of the restaurant to find someplace to sit. We went into the VERRRRY back where it was nice and quiet. We were also sitting under some trees which technically wasn’t the greatest idea since it was dripping water on us the whole time.. Ah well.
So here’s the part you’ve been waiting for, FOOD PICTURES
Okay, this is literally the cutest little cartin I’ve ever seen! It had our fried rice in it.

This was pretty good. the rice was just a little dry but other than that, it had great taste.

Here’s our wrap and grapes. We were glad we shared because that’s a lot of food!

This is what it looked like on the inside! SO sorry it’s blurry. I think one of my cameras was sick that day...

The couscous wasn’t like any I’ve had before. It was really fat and the flavor was amazing!!! This was hands down our favorite meal of the trip. We still talk about it today. Hopefully on our next trip we can try out the table service!

We sat and enjoyed the quiet and the warm day. I really liked it back there it was so relaxing and nice. When we were done, we decided it was time to use our 3rd fastpass for the day!

We made it to Harambe and I was just dying for a picture. I love the look of this section, all the bright colors just make me happy!

I was standing near Tusker House when I took this is it smelled SOO GOOD. That's another place I need to try!

SO like I said earlier, instead of making a FP+ for Nemo, I made one for Festival of the Lion King. So that’s where we were headed. This was our first time seeing the show and I for one, was VERY excited because I’ve never heard a bad thing about this show!

We got in line about 30 minutes before the show. There was already quite a few families in there, I kind of expected to be let in the show 15-10 minutes before but no, we waited really up until the starting time before they let us in.
We were sat in the center about 3 rows up and were in for a treat. We got to sit in the elephant section and tried our best to do our impressions which I must say, mine’s not that great. Then the show began and I was absolutely AMAZED by the talent in this show. It was just beautiful, the colors and the talent was just great.

Too soon, the show was over and we funneled out. Mom was absolutely raving about this show. She couldn’t say it enough, she said there was so much talent and she just loved every minute! If you haven’t been already, I would totally recommend this, it’s no doubt worth your time.

September 17th, 2015 (Part 5)

A Pintastic Update!
When we left the FOTLK theater it had just started to mist again so we headed right to the restrooms. Then we decided to just risk the rain and head toward shops.

First stop was Disney Outfitters. They had a cute little tree of like displaying all of the pins for trade!

I traded for this Disneyland pin. I love trading for Disneyland pins even though I’ve never been. I think that's they seem better to me.

We looked around for a while. They had so many cute clothes, I just wanted to buy the whole store! We found this cute purse that we thought my sister may like but decided to go across the way before getting anything.

To Island Mercantile we want!

They had all of the Halloween merch in the very front. These were some of the things I loved!

I regret not buying this ornament, I love it SO much.

They also had those dog toys we saw earlier. I don’t know why we never ended up buying that stuff, it’s so cute!

I found more Cast Members to pin trade with!

I was unintentionally keeping up with this Disneyland theme..

There was this other CM with pins but she didn’t really have anything I wanted to trade with but she was so nice I felt really bad not trading so I got this.

Oh, while we're on the subject of pins, I forgot to show you the pin I traded for the night before! (sorry it's blurry) But it's an Incredibles pin!!

Mom also found a really cute 2015 sweatshirt but it was only in kids sizes. Ah, those kids always have the coolest clothes.

We headed out to of the shop. I traded for this shield because I thought it was Prince Philip's but it turns out it's another Disneyland pin and it's a Fantasyland icon. Sorry it's so small, I forgot to take a picture.

We had passed It’s Tough to Be a Bug on our way to the shops and I definitely wanted to redeem my 8 year old self. The last time I saw this show, I was 8 but my little cousin got scared half way through and so we had to leave. Plus the wait was only 5 minutes so why would you not?

We passed Doug and Russell going on their break and we were waving and I yelled “SQUIRREL!” and pointed and Doug turned and point end in the same direction. I DIED. Best character interaction of the trip and we didn’t even have to wait in line.

I kinda forgot that this show is actually in the tree of life until I got in line. Ooo look at me being all #artsy.

I’m fascinated by all the animals carved in the tree. It’s SO beautiful! We got our glasses and waited for the doors to open. I loved all the musical posters that had been turned into bug puns. My favorite was Antie instead of Annie. LOL

Here I am looking WAAY too excited about my bug eyes.

Haha, this show was quite strange. I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if I remember more of It's A Bug's Life but I can't even tell you when I saw that last (bad Diser, I know) but still, it was enjoyable! I can understand why my cousin got scared in there though, it could definitely be scary for the younger ones!
So we headed out of the theater, and decided to head back to the first store and be sure we didn't want to get my sister that purse.
We decided not to go for it and see what else we could find her!
WHY ISN'T THIS IN MY SIZE?!

So it was nearing 4:30-5:00 and we decided it was time for us to be heading out of the park! We REALLY enjoyed our Animal Kingdom day waaay more the I would have ever imagined! Hot Momma even said it was her favorite part of the whole trip!

Animal Kingdom was closing but that didn't mean out day was over! We headed out of the park and boarded a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge!

September 17th, 2015 (Part 6)

Two Words: ZEBRA DOMES
Hey everyone, sorry for my absence... School has been crazy recently! I finally found some time to bring you a new update!
We arrived at Animal Kingdom Lodge within five minutes. I think deluxe might be worth it just for the sole fact that you can be so close to your favorite park. So the bus pulls up at Kindi Village and I realize there was a hole in my seemingly perfect plan.
Yes, even I make mistakes when it comes to Disney planning. I had tried to be really creative with our Dining Plan. Just because you have the quick service plan doesn’t mean you have to eat chicken and fries the whole week. Unless that’s what you want to do, then by all means, more power to ya! But I was in the mood for something a little more adventurous while still staying on a budget.

So like I said before, I had planned on us eating at Mara because it’s ALK’s quick service restaurant and it has some cool options. Plus, this was my first time visiting AKL and I wanted an excuse to go.

SO, this is where we get to the hole in my plan. We got off the bus at Kindi village not knowing what in the world we were doing and marched on into the lobby expecting Mara to materialize before our eyes, I’m sure if you frequent AKL you are shaking your fists at your computer screen because of my great confusion. It didn’t take us very long to realize that we were in the wrong building. Oh, well, at least we had some beautiful scenery.

I was happy to see some of the animals out and about!

We asked a kind Australian CM if he could point us in the correct direction and he handed us a map and gave us vague instructions on how to get to Jambo House. Needless to say, we made it outside and had to as for directions again HA typical. This CM was actually loading guests onto a shuttle that went to Jambo House BUT it was full. WAAA.
She told us we could wait 10 more minutes for the shuttle or walk 10 minutes and get there, our stomachs decided that walking would be better and we set off in the (wrong) direction and had to be *redirected* and we were finally on our way. My, I was a hot mess. So we finally made it to Jambo house agreeing that it was indeed a solid ten minute walk.

We walked into Jambo House and I was breathtaken. All of those pictures I’ve seen just don't do the real thing justice. This place was BEAUTIFUL.

It smelled soo good in there, it was like a huge toasty bonfire. We made our way to the elevators and took them down to the ground floor. Then we headed outside around the pool and finally to Mara.

I was a little surprised to see it wasn’t that busy in there for it being dinner time. The only complaint I have about this place is that they need to make the order in which you place your order clearer. We finally figured out what they wanted us to do, after weary CM’s (probably sick of repeating themselves) gave us instructions. In an attempt to be a little healthier I decided to go with a chicken pita… with fries… and zebra domes.. OKAY maybe I wasn’t THAT healthy but calories don’t really count in Disney!

Hot Momma got a BBQ chicken flatbread and a key lime dessert.

I have to say, I was not really that impressed with either of our meals. Mine in particular was very bland and I’ve definitely had better BBQ chicken pizzas. Trust me, I am the pizza queen.
We basically ended up eating my fries and our desserts for dinner.
Mom said her key lime dessert was pretty good, it was basically the filling of a Key Lime pie just without the graham cracker crust. I didn’t have any of it because I was saving room for my Zebra Domes! I decided to wait and eat them until I was on the bus. So we cleaned up our trays and headed back upstairs. The busses were just a short walk away from the lobby. Our bus came within 5 minutes and we were on our way! We sat by this sweet old couple who are avid Disney goers. The man saw my zebra domes and commented on how good they were. I decided I needed to give them a try. OH MY WOW I LOVED THEM.

Thursday September 17th, 2015 (Part 7) ​

Showing An Underappreciated Attraction Some Love

*Hey everybody! This thread has been pretty dead and seems kinda lonely, leave me a comment if ya would like, I want to keep the conversation going!*

We got to MK pretty quickly, I was surprised seeing as how far AKL is. When we were getting off the bus, we asked this sweet couple who were sitting beside us where they were from, and got to speak with them a little. I loved them so much! I’m glad I got to talk to them because there weren’t very many other families that we encountered who weren’t rather rude.

When we just about to pass the ferry line, we noticed that someone had left their purse hanging on a bench. We saw some CM’s setting something up nearby so we let them know. I hope that person got their purse back because that would not have been a fun day. We realized that CM’s were setting up pin boards so OF COURSE I had to inspect them.

Unfortunately it seemed as though most of them were Hidden Mickey pins and they didn’t really have anything I wanted. So we just headed on into the park...
HALLOWEEEEEENNNN

Things were pretty busy on Main Street. It was about an hour off from the Electrical parade and I think people were starting to gravitate toward the front of the park to get a good spot.

So I thought this would be a good time to visit a more under appreciated attraction…
*DRUM ROLL PLEASE*

THE LIBERTY BOAT! Yaay!

When we got to the line, a CM told us that it would be about 30 minutes before the boat came back. SO we decided to poke around in the Christmas Shoppe and come back and get in line.
Here's an idea of how busy it was...

Even though we were on of the first people in line, by the time we boarded the boat there weren’t any seats left. This really stunk because our legs were VERY sore and where we had to stand provided no cross brese for this humid evening. Even worse, we couldn’t hear the little spiel about Tom Sawyer island.

That was a little annoying but we didn’t let it get us down, we enjoyed the nice scenery and just being able to chill a little bit. Unfortunately I didn’t get to make it to Tom Sawyer is and this trip but it is on my bucket list.

It’s definitely a solid 30 minute boat ride and I think I would have enjoyed it SO much more if I could have been able to sit and listen to what the announcer was saying. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
We did get some pretty cool shots though.

IM seriously considering AKL for my next family vaca. I don't think it will be for a few years because my wife and I are expecting our first child in February but that doesn't stop me from drooling over pictures of how beautiful that resort is lol. The only thing that puts me off about is that its pretty far away from all the other parks. Were the bus ride to other parks besides AK that long?

I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying this trip report! Your writing style is fun and easy to follow! And it looks like you and your mom had a blast!

My family (me, wife, 6 yo boy, 1 yo girl) is planning a trip for the end of next year, and it's a slow week at work, so I'm planning and dreaming!

The reason this is my first post though goes back to this post:

So I saw her and told Mom “Hey, there’s that lady again!” and I didn’t know but she was reading the back of the pin card and said “It’s called Bandana Stitch” but I thought she had meant that when you keep seeing people over and over again it's called “bandana stitch” hahahaha
I didn't figure out that’s what she meant until later that night and we had a good laugh. Maybe we were sleep deprived.​

When we went last year (May 2014), there were a few people from our resort, that I'm sure were stalking us (or we were stalking them)! Now, whenever that happens, I'm gonna call it a bandanna stitch!
