compare these two cameras help

Can someone help me with the difference between the cannon T3 and the cannon ti2?


I've narrowed to these two, my primary purpose is for gymnastics and i will be adding a cannon ef 100mm prime lens.

I'm not a Canon shooter but looking at the attached side by side comparison, they appear to be quite different, 18mp vs 12.2mp sensor, different view finder/screen, etc. At face value, the T2i appears to be a more advanced camera. Then there is the T3i, which is newer than the T2i.

Agree with above statement. T2i is the better camera and probably can get a good deal as the latest rebel is the T3i. Most retailers will probably be wanting to sell off the T2i this fall/winter. The T3 is the latest base rebel camera for beginners in the slr world of canon. What is the price comparison your seeing between the two? I would go T2i or step up to the T3i if you want the articulating screen.

The T3 is a step down from the T2i. The T3 is the 1100D, made to follow the Rebel XS (1000D). They are a step down from the T1i, T2i, T3i in features and such. Now the T3i (that i makes all the difference now) is the 600D that followed the T2i which is the 550D. It's a very similar camera, they really just refined the design of the T2i when they made the T3i.

With the right lenses the T3 would get the job done for you. It goes to ISO 6400. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the T2i and T3i have, but it's a solid camera with a good ISO range. But if I could afford the T2i, I'd go for that.

like the others said, the Canon T2i (550D) has a few more features and although slightly older, is probably a better deal
