Commencing Operation Christmas Miracle Trip 2010: PTR

DH called me on the way home from the doctor. They are sending him for a series of tests at the hospital tomorrow. I think he will have a barium swallow and an MRI as well as some bloodwork. I'm not sure of anything else, but one suspicion is either his gall bladder or a blockage in his digestive tract. He called his family and told his brother he wasn't sure he could make it through milking tonight. This man goes to work when he has the flu and 104 fever....he must feel REALLY bad.

Oh no, so sorry to hear this. I hope they find out what is going on and get it taken care of asap.

Oh no! Sending best wishes your way!

thinking of you, DH & the family
hope everything is okay.. sending pixie dust :wizard:

Thank you so much. I really thought I was doing ok--called my mom to let her know what was going on and was doing fine and then DS and I got into a little argument after school and I totally over-reacted and then broke down in tears. I guess I'm more worried than I thought I was.

I'm subbing even though I only made it to page 2 so far........ I love the peroxside 4 wheeler board coversation. I'm trying to convince DH to go next Novermber...... thank you for the great idea's!

OH NO!!! What's with these Dairy Farmer guys and being ill.

I hope everything is OK and they can get him fixed up ASAP. I know (from experience) how much of a baby a man can be. Especially when they never take a day off. Thats means they are sicker than any person on the earth. LOL! But seriously I totally understand it, and I hope he gets to feeling better fast.

So we are back from the hospital and all the testing and we know....nothing. They told DH it may be Monday before his doctor gets the test results. As soon as we got home I put in a call to his Dr.'s office to see if they can speed things up. They are at lunch so hopefully they will call back soon.

I am crossin gmy fingers for you and your DH! Hopefully it will turn out to be something minor, or even nothing at all!

Oh no! I hate that hurry up and wait game.
We've been waiting for over 2 weeks for the Dr to call us back, but we already know this guy is a jerk and we think he's avoiding us.

I hope he is feeling better now.

Jen, I'm starting to feel your pain.....the doctor's office called back this evening and they did get the test results back. The results told them.....NOTHING. Nothing showed up in the blood work or the CT scans. They want him to see an gastroenterologist "soon." I'm thinking, "How about first thing tomorrow morning????" The man can barely function.....so I'm calling my friend Ginny who is a nurse and knows everyone in the medical community around here. I'm going to get him in to see someone tomorrow. *sigh*

I promise that we will get back to Disney posting...but right now this is all I can think about!

I totally understand. We have no where to go next. I don't even know what to suggest to Skip anymore. He has talked to a lawfirm place now. It's a place that specializes in hip replacement recalls and basically they direct you to a lawyer in your area if needed. We did find out hip type was recalled back in 2001. So we assume things are better with them now, but he has all the same pains as the ones that had them recalled.

Hi! Welcome and thanks for reading. Glad you are enjoying my stories! The 4 wheeler story still cracks ME up! Feel free to use any and all of my sneaky plans for your own.

Thanks very much. It just doesn't feel like a "nothing" kind of thing this time. Partly because it's gone on so long....

We have an appointment at the GI doc this afternoon at 2:00pm. That was after I called FOUR places, went through the whole story only to have them tell me either "the doctor isn't in today" or "no appointments available today."

One good thing though: My younger step son (the 22 year old) showed up at our door last night. I practically cried when I saw him. I'm not sure he can stay long--he has projects due at school and has to work, but I'm just so happy that he came. :goodvibes It helped more than I would have imagined. So I'm at work til I take DH to the appointment and DD stayed home to "take care of daddy." She was fixing up the bed for him and getting a movie to watch with him (He'll probably watch most of it with his eyes closed) and getting his drinks for him. It was so sweet. :lovestruc DS is hanging out with DSS while I'm here and I'm hoping my friend can take the kids when we go to the appointment. The kids didn't have school today--teacher work day, I think. I feel like I'm totally rambling....if you're still reading, thanks for staying with me!

Really sorry to hear this. I didn't read all the posts but have they checked the gallbladder? My husband had extreme pain/nausea to where he couldn't stand. He did have it removed finally. One of my neices just recently had hers removed as well. She was in terrible pain and couldn't eat. No stones but they did remove the gallbladder and it did help. She is around 30 and just had a baby. Hope all works out for your husband!

Well, I thought this was one of the things to rule out....it's still on MY list of possiblities.

Today's appointment was a complete waste of time. We were supposed to be seeing a GI doc. When we arrived there was a sign in the window that said, "Dr. A: Colon & Rectal Surgeon." Ummmm....hello? Is there something DH's doctor forgot to mention to us when she referred us to this guy? So I went into the hallway and called his doctor. This doc had taken over the practice of the previous GI doc and they just ASSUMED that he covered all the same issues. Um.....no. The only thing he could recommend was a repeat colonoscopy. WHAT? That doesn't even make sense and it was obvious that the doctor didn't even believe it was necessary. We did find out the results of all the testing came back within normal limits (all blood work, etc). So there's nothing obvious. We called DH's dr's office as soon as we got out of there and now we have an appt. with a REAL GI doc on Tuesday morning. I went by the office and picked up copies of all his tests so if I end up taking him to the ER over the weekend, we won't have to re-do the tests we already did. Hopefully.

I think his dr's office is now thinking it was gastroenteritis. But I'm not really buying that. The symptoms don't really fit. So, back to square one.

I'm sorry you are not getting any real answers! I know how frustrating that is! Hopefully the new doc will be able to help!

I swear, you must be visiting Drs in the Toledo Ohio area. Sounds just liek the same run around we get too.

Thanks. I was mostly frustrated today because it was a 45 minute drive over there and then such a waste of time because he wasn't even the right kind of doctor! Sheesh! :headache:

He's actually starting to act more like himself but he still complains about his stomach and about feeling so weak. I let him eat real food this afternoon and this evening, but I told him if he feels worse I'm taking him to the ER. He was trying to get out of the Tuesday appt "if he feels better" but the doctor and I ganged up on him and said he has to go even if he feels better.

I'm surprised at how much it helps me just to be able to say what's going on to someone. And yesterday when DSS showed up....wow. I felt like I wasn't so alone in dealing with everything.

DH saw the "real" GI doc yesterday....who had absolutely no ideas or explanations for him. DH is feeling MUCH better now and acting more like himself. Now he's just complaining because he wasted all the time and money going to doctors! He has his sense of humor back :goodvibes and was bossing me around on Sunday afternoon. We have a huge Fall Festival at our house for our whole church every fall and we were out getting the yard ready. He LOVES :lovestruc to do it--gets a tractor and takes everyone on hay rides, brings out some calves and the goat for a little petting zoo and then the ladies from the church fix chili and hot dogs and have lots of games and activities for the kids. So I think that he's motivated to feel better because he doesn't want to disappoint everyone.

His abdominal pain is gone and he's getting his energy back a little more every day. He's back to eating normal food (whew! Didn't want to have to cancel all those great ADRs!) He will see his GP again tomorrow and he's going to request a Lyme's test. (DS and I have both had it). His last one was December 2009, so we need to at least check it out again. He's also seeing our chiropractor again and she has some ideas about what might have been causing his abdominal pain and how to treat it.

Overall, I think he's recovering from whatever was wrong. It seemed like he started to turn around when he started taking the antibiotic. Since then he's gotten progressively better. We'll see what his GP says tomorrow and then hopefully we can chalk it all up to a weird virus or bug and move on.

He told me yesterday that he's ready to be done with it and move on. :goodvibes

Thank you for the update, I was just thinking about you and your family this morning... Very happy to hear that your Hubby is feeling better.... Your fall festival sounds wonderful!!:flower3:
