Commencing Operation Christmas Miracle Trip 2010: PTR

Thank you for the update, I was just thinking about you and your family this morning... Very happy to hear that your Hubby is feeling better.... Your fall festival sounds wonderful!!:flower3:

Thanks! :goodvibes We really enjoy the fall festival. There are usually around 120 people there....my DS inivited his entire class! It looks like the weather will be beautiful this weekend so it should be a really nice event.

Hidden Mickey Alert!

This morning DD and I were walking up to the bus. It was really, really foggy. We were chatting about various things....school, the cat :cat:, the dog, her science fair project (on how to kill stinkbugs!) and all of a sudden she stops dead in her tracks and shouts, "HIDDEN MICKEY! Mom! Look!!" I looked up and there's this big tree across the road which did indeed look like a hidden Mickey! ::MickeyMo We just smiled at each other and stood there enjoying the moment. It was a nice start to the day. :goodvibes

Awesome!!!! What a great way to start the day!!

DH went back to his GP yesterday. I didn't go along because he seemed so much better. I had a ton of errands to run and two appointments out of town....so I didn't find out anything until I got home last last evening. She did an EKG and blood work. Apparently he had a mild HEART ATTACK!!!!!!!! :scared1: At first I was just sort of numb and then I started to freak out. He has an appointment with a cardiologist on THURSDAY. Are you kidding me? Why not today?!?!? I'm calling around now to get him in today.

OMG!!! And no one else picked up on this. I swear we are seeing the same Drs. Get some aspirin to keep handy now.

Wow. Reading back I probably should have recognized the symptoms. One of my arteries was completely blocked back in May. I woke up in the morning with a knot in my chest, but thought it was just gas. Continued through the day, even went to my moms and put together the deck furniture we got her for the upcoming mother's day. Went home, felt kind of sick to my stomach and went to lie down. Next thing I remember is getting carried out of the house by paramedics. The thought of a heart attack never entered my mind. Had to stents put in, and I am good as new. Just gotta take a bunch of pills every day. Hope everything works out. He should be fine by the time you go to Disney.

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes and encouragement. I alternate between being eerily calm, freaking out a little, and just wanting to be in denial and plan for Disney. I have to think about other things or I will just worry and that doesn't help anyone.

Right now we have 2 appointments next week with 2 cardiologists. And I'm prepared to call 911 at the first sign of anything. The first appointment is on Monday with a cardiologist about 20 minutes away--some friends recommended that office--her husband went there (to a different doctor) after his heart attack. The other one is with a doctor who is certified about 10 times over and is a cardiologist/internist. But we can't see him until Thursday. I'm keeping both appointments.

DoP....the funny thing is that when it was all happening, my gut told me it was his heart and I wanted to take him to the ER but he insisted I take him home. I should have listened to myself!

On a happier note, tomorrow is our annual fall festival at our house so I'm heading home early to get ready for it. Maybe I'll even have some nice photos afterwards. I love taking fall photos. :goodvibes

I remember my wife coming into the room to ask how I was doing. I said my stomach was really hurting. She asked if I wanted to go to the ER, and me being a dumb stubborn man said No, I'll be alright. Probably an hour later I was getting carried out of my house and put in an ambulance.

I think my wife, Sister in Law, and the nurse thought I was nuts after getting the stents put in and taken up to the Intensive car unit, they asked if I wanted anything. So I asked for something to eat. They were all staring at me dumbfounded as I ate a turkey sandwich less than an hour after my procedure.

Wow! I can't believe no one caught that! I am so glad someone was doing there job. Hopefully the new drs can get you all the answers you need.

Me either! If I can find the information on the internet that describes his exact symptoms as a heart attack, it makes me wonder why THREE separate physicians would not even suspect it! :scared1:

We had our fall festival yesterday. DH was really not himself all day. DSS, who is usually oblivious to everyone around him, came home and said to me, "Dad doesn't look good today." THAT was scary. He even got someone else to drive the tractor for the hayride and didn't argue with me when I told him he had to sit and relax for the whole event. He's so darn stubborn though--he complained to one friend that he was feeling short of breath and to another one that his arm felt a little numb and tingly but he refused to let me take him to the hospital. I had my one friend who is a nurse check him out. (He told me later, "I thought Bonnie was just trying to hold my hand until I realized she was taking my pulse.") I'll feel so much better tomorrow after we can talk to the cardiologist. I've been a wreck today! If we can just make it through tonight and tomorrow morning......I keep taking on more and more of the responsibilities trying to keep him from feeling any stress.

People from our church have been really helpful and supportive. And my other DSS came home again from college this weekend so that was nice too.

I helped him milk the cows tonight. He had me taking care of things that I usually don't do--checking on a cow who is ready to have a calf any minute and cleaning up the milking parlor after we were done. He came home this morning and just rested all day until time to milk this evening, but after 3 hours he was dragging again. It's just not like him at all.

So, again--if you're still reading, thanks for sticking with me. Hopefully we'll return to our regularly scheduled Disney planning report soon. :flower3:

I so hope you are able to get answers tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and DH all day. Please keep us posted.

Hello Faithful Readers!

DH had his appointment at the cardiologist this morning. I have 3 words: BEST. DOCTOR. EVER. :goodvibes I have never been to any doctor in whom I felt more confident or felt like he really listened to us and wanted to figure out what was going on. He spent a LONG time talking to us and asking questions to clarify the symptoms, confronted DH about minimizing his symptoms ( :cheer2: ) and did a physical exam. They did a repeat EKG which showed that the abnormalities from last week were even more pronounced today. Then he took us back into the office and clarified some more things. Apparently DH's symptoms and test results are not a clear cut case (as opposed to the "I really didn't need medical school to know that person X just had a heart attack"). He gave us a couple of options and then his recommendation which is for DH to go to Washington Hospital Center in D.C. (one of the best heart hospitals in the country) for a heart catheterization. There are 4 options whenever someone has one of these: 1. nothing is wrong--start over in a totally new direction 2. condition treatable with medication 3. one blockage--put in stent--he stays overnight--2 day recovery at home 4. multiple blockages--heart surgery--a week in the hospital and long recovery. They will treat him for whatever condition they discover when he goes in on Wednesday. The only way to know for sure is to do this test. (You see how much I can learn when something is wrong with DH?)

DH did not argue at all. And by the time we were done with the appointment, he was ready for another nap. So now we just have to get through a couple more days and hopefully all will be taken care of. It will be exceedingly difficult for him and his family if he has to have surgery ( because of the farm).

So...the next couple of days will be busy and probably stressful, but we have wonderful friends and a wonderful church family and pastor who are very supportive. People have been e-mailing me all day with encouragement and prayers. DH gets a little choked up when people take care of him so he's being a tad bit nonchalant about it.

I guess we will be at the hospital for at least 7 or 8 hours on Wednesday. Lots of time to read up about Disney and obsess over my planning notebook.

Oh....as we were leaving the Dr.'s office I told him that we were planning to go to Disney in December. He laughed and teased me about how we were now getting to my REAL concern....would we still be able to go to Disney? It was a nice moment. I'm telling you....BEST DOCTOR EVER. :lovestruc

Glad to hear you finally have some type of answer. You are in my prayers. Actually I was thinking about you as we drove through western Maryland yesterday on the way from Shennandoah NP to Gettysburg! Beautiful scenery and all the farms! Hope all goes well for your husband. Keep us posted!

That must have been a beautiful drive yesterday! The leaves are so pretty right now. Are you in Gettysburg now? My DS LOVES :lovestruc Gettysburg. He and his friends like to get dressed up in Civil War costumes and play on the battlefields.

Thanks for thinking of us. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about DH! That must have been scary! I'm glad you finally found a good doctor though, and I will cross my fingers that all goes well Wednesday!

Just started reading your ptr around last week! It's been interesting! I'm all caught up and praying everything goes good for your DH!!
