Comfort on Snow Whites Mine Train for Larger Guests

I'm not all that large (I have big legs) and it's uncomfortable. But not miserable, just uncomfortable.

PP is one of the few I've heard of who couldn't ride at all, but it seems like the "discomfort" comment starts at a very average size. My group contained me (5'9" and overweight, size 22) brother (6'3" and trim) dad (6'3" and somewhat heavy at 260) and sister (5'5" size 16) and a bunch of kids. Only the kids had no comment about discomfort - everyone else found it at least somewhat uncomfortable. I was most concerned because although Disney is extremely size-friendly compared to other parks, I had heard bad things about this ride. The u-shaped lap bar did squeeze on my thighs, but I had no concerns that it wouldn't pull down or lock. I rode once next to a stranger (always a concern for me - I dont want to infringe their space) but wasn't touching or crowding them at all.

That makes sense. After all, it's a kiddie coaster.

(Putting flame-retardant suit on NOW).

jadebaby, thank you so much for posting your pictures. You have really given me comfort regarding riding rides and my size. Your amazing. :worship:

When I first road this I pushed the lap restraint bar down a little too far and had immediate concerns. As the CM was checking on everyone I alerted her and she released it for my car only and allowed me to reset it to a comfortable tightness. I imagine that everyone else who said the lap restraints were too tight might have done the same thing.

I'm 6-3 and about 340, and I fit, but it was the most uncomfortable ride at Disney for me. Squeezing my knees together to fit under the bar was hard -- i rode alone both times, and the second time I slipped my leg into the other bay once we got past the CMs. And I've got a twinge in my left knee, so that hurt.

Splash has less leg room up front, but the fact that it's not single-rider bars that makes it work. But 7dMT was the most uncomfortable ride for me.

Thank you so much jadebaby. This has eased my mind.I now know my son will be able to ride! You have helped a lot of people today!. Thank you again. :cheer2:

I mistakenly did that on Space Mountain...ouch is all I have to say...thanks for the warning to not do that on 7DMT....

I am not anywhere near fat/pooh-sized etc (I am however tall and broad in the hips and shoulders), and I found it uncomfortable and so did DH who is also not a large guy.

Hi I normally would not do this but I want pooh sized people to try and ride mine train! I rode several times with my daughter and its really tigh but doable and worth it. I normally would not post my pic but I want everyone to see my size and it may help some feel more confident about riding!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I just found this thread today and you have made me so happy! I will be at MK in early February with my DH, and DD7. We have FPs for this ride, and I was beginning to think we shouldn't attempt it, but I didn't want my DD to miss out on anything! Both me and DH are Pooh-sized, and now I feel confident about keeping this FP.

I want you to know how much I truly appreciate that you came out of your comfort zone and posted those pictures! I really love the one of you and your daughter with Daisy....so cute.

Thank you again....you have made my day :cheer2:

Great pictures! Thanks for posting - we're similarly built and now I feel like it may be worth a try for me to ride. :)

:love::cool1:

Lol! Maybe I will get pixie dust and win a trip to Disney!! Seiously tho I know how it feels to not be able to ride something with your child and see their disappointment and if my pic saved someone from that I am glad I posted it!!

Just to throw in... I'm 6'7"

And about the only ride at wdw that is truly uncomfortable for me is space mountain...which should have been solved years ago but they go cheap on rehabs there.

Everything else is fine...not always "comfortable"...but how long are you on it?

Hello again,

I would love to ask you if you have gone on RRC? I rode it many years ago, and really want to do it again!

How did you finagle riding alone? The CMs were so adamant about no empty seats on our trip. They had an odd/even structure for the final 2 queues so they could puzzle-piece everyone.

I'm going to jump in here with the photos to show that big folks CAN indeed ride! Granted, I think a lot of it probably has to do with HOW your weight is distributed. However, at 6'0" and 360 lbs (size 28), I rode in September with no problems!

Obviously, I'm the big gal in the pink shirt having WAY too much fun... :rotfl:

You do look like you are having a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to ride it and your sharing has made me less apprehensive! Thanks again!:cool1:

My daughter is 5' 1" and weighs 97 lbs and said the seats were uncomfortable. This isn't as much as weight thing as it is a design thing. However, it is true that the seats are tight and there is not a lot of room for your legs after you pull the lap bar down.
