Come to the Dark Side...4 Weekends of Fun with the Force(Updated 11/12)

He ticked at theater practice on Thursday, but he was able to hide it from the other kids. His fist got stuck in a clench. He put his other hand over it to hide it. He's been feeling the urge to squeeze things lately. I mentioned something to the therapist and she gave him a small jar of therapeutic putty. She gave him the strongest kind. Once he got in the car, he put that in his hand and it helped.

Yes, hydration ahead of time is key. And not with something that has caffeine or it will defeat the purpose. Say hi to Jeremy for us.

We are going to Sea World today to check out their Halloween Spooktacular. It's included with admission. I've been drinking Power Aid all morning. I can tolerate the orange, but red (I guess cherry) was all that was left at home. Yuck! We wont be staying long. Just a couple hours. Maybe we'll stop by the F&W Festival afterwards?

Oh no about his fist clenching. I'm glad he was able to hide it from the other kids and it doesn't sound like it got any worse than that. That's good the therapist gave him the putty and that it helped. Hope he's able to continue to make it work.

Jeremy loved the picture of JJ with Maul. When I showed it to him he got a grin on his face. He said HI and hopes JJ had fun at Sea World!! We're heading to Great America tomorrow for their Trick or Treat with the Characters. Kids can't wait to wear their costumes for the first time!! Well Sarah won't be in her actual one since it's supposed to get here next week. The kids are going to be Jeremy - Captain Hook, James - Peter Pan and Sarah Wendy. But tomorrow she'll either wear her Belle or Sofia one.

Little tics like throat clearing and this fist clenching he can handle. I just have to remember to check how long his fingernails are. Don't want him to dig them into his hand.

Hopefully next year Jeremy will get to meet up with Darth Maul at Jedi Training?

Have fun at Great America. Great family themed costumes.

We are going to Epcot today for a little bit. JJ wants to see Duffy in his Halloween costume. We are also planning on doing the Kerrygood butter demonstration and a spice demonstration. They are free in the festival center.

ToT at Sea World was tough. It was 85 degrees, but the humidity was unbearable. We ended up in first aid with him to cool him down. He got about half of the ToT stops done before we had to leave. He had a great time with what he did. He also did a craft and played a video game. I'll have pictures to post, but probably not for a few days. The next couple days are jammed packed.

Great!

Yes, they did want feedback. I sent an email yesterday about our experience.

Yes, it was ok at the MK. We'll have to check out the other parks. I'm sure Epcot will be fine since we rarely used his GAC there. Animal Kingdom and DHS concern me.

Hoping that the DAS works well for you at the other parks, too. I know we tend to spend the majority of our time at DHS so I'll be interested in hearing about your experiences there. It will be interesting to see how this new program changes the way you tour the parks.

As long as we can keep Grace somewhere cool while waiting to ride we should be okay, but I did notice on our last visit that the length of time she can be in the park without problems is decreasing. It used to be that we could leave after a 5:00 dinner and be fine, but this past visit, she was done by about 3:00 most days. I can see us doing a lot of lunches in the future, and then having dinner in our room at the resort.

Glad he's able to handle the little one's (throat clearing and hand clenching). Good idea about the finger nails. Not something I would have thought of.

Hope so. He's fought him once at DL but I know he'd prefer to fight Maul more often than Vader. For some reason he likes the really scary guys and likes to prove he's not scared of them.

We ended up not going to Great America. I didn't sleep very good last night so instead of forcing me to wake up Jeff decided to let me sleep in. I didn't get up until 11 am!! :scared1: Now the plan is to go next Sunday and by then Sarah will have her costume so that will fun.

We still haven't met Duffy!! I guess I need to fix that the next time we got to either DL or WDW. Hope you guys are able to have a great day today!!

I'm happy that JJ was at least able to do some stuff before the heat got to him. Sorry you had to spend a lot of time in First Aid. But thankfully the parks do have a First Aid area so you can go there to cool off/relax. Looking forward to the pictures when you have the chance to post them.

Today we went to Epcot and didn't even use it. Only ride we did was Spaceship Earth. He wanted to go on Living With The Land, but that was way opposite of the Festival Center, so we never made our way over there.

At DHS, One Man's dream is where we go the most to cool off.

That's what we have to do. Lunch there and dinner in the room

Glad you were able to get some rest today. Were the kids disappointed or didn't they know?

We didn't see Duffy today. The park was so crowded for the holiday. But he carried his Duffy everywhere.

Tomorrow we are going canoeing at a friends cabin, resting, then mnsshp at night. Should be a fun day.

They actually didn't mind. For some reason they are on this kick where the only place they want to go is Disneyland. :lmao: Guess I've trained them too good. It was nice to get the rest that I needed.

Cute that he had his Duffy.

Sounds like another fun filled day tomorrow!! Enjoy it!!

So glad to hear JJ has been doing fairly well!

I saw a parody-type picture on Pinterest not too long ago with a picture of Admiral Ackbar standing next to a food truck. It was called "Admiral Snackbar" and they sold wraps. So the tag line was "It's a wrap!" Hehe.

Very glad to hear the new system will work for your family. It's so disheartening when people take advantage of things and it affects the people who really need the extra help.

That's good they didn't mind. Can't blame them for wanted Disneyland?

Glad you got the rest. How did your tests come back?

Thanks. Up until yesterday, he had a nice stretch of some pretty good days! Made a big difference for all of us.

I'll have to search for that parody. Too funny.

Last Wednesday it worked well. However, we stayed at Disney Sun to Tues for Columbus Day, and it did not go nearly as well to say the least. However, there were some awesome cm who helped make things a little easier. They know JJ from our frequent visits and were aware of how bad things got this summer. They were happy to see him doing so much better.

I just noticed your tagline about brain lesions. I can relate. It's amazing how many things a brain lesion can affect. I was fascinated the first time the neurologist sat down and showed us the MRI of his quarter sized lesion, and explained how it affected all parts of the brain. But seeing the effects in action are heartbreaking and far from fascinating.

Hopefully the new system will work out. I am sure there are just bugs in it right now. The old system was far from perfect.

I don't blame them at all because I want it too!!

It was a much needed rest. My numbers came back high. :sad2: They said if it was over 95 they'd cancel the rest of the test and my Dr.'s office would call me. Well found out my number was 100 so hopefully we're able to control it by diet. Haven't heard back yet from my Dr. but hopefully I do soon so we can start the next steps.

Yes, and the new system isn't perfect either. I wonder why they didn't go to barcoding with each attraction? At Universal, they keep track of each attraction the person goes on. I think that helps cut down on abuse of it there.

I'm so sorry the numbers came back high. I hope diet change is enough to bring it down.

As promised, here are pictures of a super excited JJ getting mail from Tammie and Goo.

Tammie that was so nice of you and Goo to think of JJ. He loves Goo's choices of pictures. Thank you so much for spreading some magic during a time that was very difficult.

OMG...thank you for the tears this morning...and JJs smile!
It is going to be an awesome day thinking of that big smile! I am so glad he liked it! Was not much, but we wanted to do something for him for always letting us share his adventures in our favorite place.

love the star wars photo frame! sweet gift!

hope you had a fun day canoeing! and going to MNSSHP!

Hopefully then can work the bugs out. I think that for people like you that need it they need to fix it. For the frauds that abused the system I am glad that they are changing it. Disney can learn from Universal.

What a wonderful and thoughtful present for JJ!!

What an amazing gift!! It looks great!

So I did get the dreaded phone call today and I do have gestational diabetes. My appointment with the nutritionist isn't until October 31 but I'm going to try to get one sooner (see if going for a late appointment instead of early will get me in). She is confident that we should be able to control it with diet. I will have to monitor my sugar levels but that won't start until after I go to my appointment.

I hope so too. I'd expect things to change again, once FP is removed and it goes to FP+.

I hope they are able to keep the frauds from abusing this system.

Yes, love the framed photos.

I'm so sorry the phone call had bad news. I sure hope you can get in before then. I'm sure diet alone will work wonders.

No, no, no, thank YOU!!!! He was thrilled with it. I keep seeing him standing in front of it looking at the pictures.

hope you had a fun day canoeing! and going to MNSSHP!

Thanks. It was a very nice gift. I have been admiring the digital scrapping that Tammie has done of her family for a couple years now.

JJ loved canoeing. He went out on the lake twice. The weather was perfect. It was toasty at our resort, but their yard was shaded and it was cool. At one point I almost went to the car to get my sweatshirt.

MNSSHP was great up to one point. In fact, this was the 4th party we had been to this season and it was almost the best one. Then it was totally ruined and we had to go home.

sorry to hear this, hope everything will get better with diet changes

Thank you! I hope so too!

Thanks! I hope it does too. Just need to get in and get that started. Just trying to eat a little bit better now until they tell me what I should and shouldn't do.
