Hi all. Does anyone have experience with drop off/pick up at the Comcast Center in Mansfield? I bought DD tickets but prefer NOT to attend if there is a way to get in and out fairly easy. There's a Pub99 just down the street where I can hang and be close by in case she needs me.

I guess that leads me to another question. The tickets are for Paramour. I've never heard of the band but I understand they were nominated for best new alternative band this year. What type of crowd will this band draw. The answer to that could make the answer to question #1 a moot point:laughing:

There is a gas station right outside the exit. Have the kids walk out and meet you there with lots of other parents. Do not under any circumstances drive back into the parking lot to pick up, you will be stuck for good long time..

Thanks. I've been there loads of times but I thought the gas station was pretty far away...isn't it over the overpass and still another 1/4 mile or so?

:wave2: Hi Patsgirl! I don't have an answer but I had to pipe in because I'll be at that concert with DD and her friend. I can't wait, because I actually really like Paramour. :rockband: But, I could use another old lady in the crowd. Are you sure you can't stay? I suspect it will be a young crowd, overall.

Thanks Leslie:) I'll most likely end up staying unless the in/out is easy and DD's friends' parents don't require me to chaperone. I'm a little uneasy about leaving her myself but at the moment I'm just getting my ducks in a row in case. She's getting the tickets the last day of school and I'll most likely add a CD to them which will give me a chance to hear the band as well! I always get her a "last day of school" gift if she does well all year and I know she really wants to see this band so...

I've emailed her dad and his gf to see if either of them want to go with her but most likely it'll be me;) Have a great time!

"In" won't be a problem. Parking is free, and you can just tell everyone directing parking that you're dropping them off. You'll be able to drive right up to the circle in front of the doors and let them out. Be careful - this is also where the motorcycles, if any, park, and as you know, motorcycles are everywhere :rolleyes3: (wrong place/time for a rant, Ronda, start another thread, don't rant here...)

Getting back in to pick them up probably won't be too much of a problem, either, althouth if there are a lot of parents doing pickup, you may end up way out in the parking lot near the street. GETTING out of the parking lot could be another story entirely. Last time I went - it wasn't the Comcast Center yet - I saw Toby Keith, and knowing how I feel about traffic, I left just before the concert ended. It took me an hour and a half to get home. I was listening to the radio, and there were people calling in from the parking lot over an hour after the concert ended - they were still trying to get out.

I would say, if it's not inconvenient, some weekend afternoon do a test run. See how far a walk it would be for them to meet you out on the street somewhere - and remember, there will be a LOT of other kids walking through the parking lot, as well as CC employees and probably police - just as a matter of standard policy.

I've been there more times than I could count in the past but last year was the first time in several years that we went (Aerosmith/Drop Kick Murphys). It was INSANE getting out. We were in the back lot (not our choice but were directed there on entry) and we actually just took a nap in the car for a while rather than waiting in line. It was never that bad for us in the past. I'd absolutely drop off somewhere out front and let them walk out. It would be much easier due to congestion. As far as the crowd goes, sure, there'll be the usual pot smokers and possibly worse. Areas of concern would be the parking lots, bathrooms, and any out of the way places, IMO. I would stres that they stay together at all times and keep to the main arena areas. That should be fine. I hope they enjoy the show!
