Hi there, do any of you have feedback on attendance and general conditions etc. over Columbus Day weekend (mid-October)? This year Columbus Day is Oct. 11. I know lots of kids will be out of school but just wondered how the long weekend compares to the busier times. We need to reschedule a summer trip and would like to be down there for MNSSHP. I don't want my children to miss much school but was thinking about letting them miss the Friday before and getting in a good compact trip.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
:sunny:

We were there last Columbus Day and didn't notice the crowds to be a problem. However, we usually go in the summer so keep that in mind. The weather was lovely--hot and dry. We enjoyed MNSSHP!

That's heartening, campingcorgi! Thanks for posting. (Hey, we're FW "cabin-dwellers" too! )

Well, I thought we'd 'met'! October is great in the Fort, too! I just made my October ressies for this year!! MNSSHP here we come!!!

We have been over that weekend a couple of times. We found the parks to be somewhat crowded for off-season. I would say we found them to be about average for on-season (summer), so if that is what you are used to, you will be fine.

The weather was fantastic both times. It is still very warm during the day and pleasant at night. The year we went to MNSSHP it was very warm at night and my son was rather hot in his Buzz costume.

MNSSHP was a blast and it was great when the park closed and only the party goers were let back in. The park was not crowded at all, even though there seemed to be good attendance at the event. Getting pictures taken with the characters was relatively quick (especially compared to the usual waits during the day).

This is a fun weekend and I would recommend it highly!

Thanks Julie Sue! I am getting excited about this prospect now. Time to book the ressies! I've never been to WDW during a crowded time, but our trip for early summer —the one we're having to postpone— would certainly have seen crowds! This tradeoff is fine with me I think; and nicer weather too. (And the Halloween party!)

Thanks for heads-up on costume, too -- I think my 7-yr-old will probably want to be Buzz too so I'll look for the "coolest" suit!
