We are going Thurs - Sun. over Columbus Day weekend. Has anyone been there at that time? Is it really as bad as other holiday times? Also is it worth the $33 to go to Disney Quest? Thanks for your advice.:Pinkbounc

We went Sat. and Sun. of Columbus Day weekend in '00 and it was very crowded !! Mind you, it was also the Millinium Celebration so therefore maybe the crowds were larger that year.Hardly rode anything until after the fireworks then we walked right on to several rides, what little time we had left.Hope this helps.

I've read that it is mobbed during that weekend. I have also heard most if not all resorts are booked up. We always go the Tuesday afterwards and the crowds have left. You couldn't pay me to go on that holiday weekend!

Columbus Day weekend 2002.
MNSSHP the Friday before, the day we arrived, and the first night of MNSSHP.
VERY NICE.
Like any weekend, it is more crowded than the week days. And the holiday weekends are more crowded than regular weekends.
It was HOT and HUMID last Columbus Day weekend.
I don't know what this year's schedule is, but DH ran the WDW Classic 10k that Sunday. I don't know if that race is every Columbus Day weekend. But something you may want to work with or around.

Hey Regclixpix, better to be in a crowd at WDW then in a crowded supermarket!:D No Worries!:D See you there!

My family is arriving on that Saturday. First time for my kids. We're staying the entire week. Any suggestions?

TTFN,
Maria

Gosh, now I'm getting worried, too. We will be there for most of our vaca BEFORE the weekend, but we leave Sun OF. Not doing any parks on Sun, but was planning a non-park day Fri and AK and Epcot Sat. Should I switch the two days? IS Fri any better than Sat for those parks?

We are getting there on Sunday and staying until Thursday. The only reason we are going that particular set of days is because my sister-in-law was going. That was the only time she could take off from work.

She has since canceled. I would have rather been going a different week.

For anyone with experience with this weekend: Is Friday generally any better than Saturday, or the same? Also, we're planning AK from opening to early afternoon (Sat.), then Epcot in late afternoon/evening. Will this plan be okay, or are we better off doing these two parks on Friday? I appreciate any advice.

Yes... do DQ if you have the time! Only don't pay $33 for the tickets! Go to mousesavers.com and join if you haven't already. They have a link to buy DQ tickets for $21 adult and $19 children. My 8 yr old DD and I have been 2x and she LOVES it there! We stayed about 6-7 hours each time and still didn't want to leave! Hope this helps!

kdonnel -- The same thing happened to us. My nephew wanted to come and talked us into going that holiday weekend so he would only have to take one day off at school. Lo and behold, he's not going anymore. We'll be there Oct. 9-16. I figure it's going to be crowded most of the time we're there. But I thinks its also going to be exciting with 2 new attractions and a new fireworks show. We'll make the best of it.

We're doing Spectro on the 9th, Epcot on Fri, MGM on Sat, MK on Sun and AK on Mon. Hopefully it won't be too bad but if it is we're still going to be there until Thursday. We're going to do Illuminations and Fantasmic after the holiday.

We too will be there over this weekend 10/11/ - 10/18. The last time we went was at the end of August 2001 and I figure its gotta to be equal to or less than those crowds. I also rely on the fact that because of these boards and all my other research that I have a leg up on most of the people there. There are a lot of people out there (I am told) that don't even bother with fast pass and go to WDW without any plan. Most of us DIS savy folks are going well prepared knowing when to go to what attractions, when to get FP, when to take a break, what days of the week are best for which parks etc.. So even though it may be crowded most of us will make out very well and will have great time.

We arrive on Saturday the 11 and will be there until Thursday the 16 (then begin our first Disney cruise - yay!). My oldest son started middle school this year, so we did not want him to miss an entire week of school. I'm sure it will be much more crowded than our usual early November - but after this we'll probably have to start going in the summer and it will REALLY be crowded! But, as mentioned, you learn so much on DIS about the Fast Pass and whatnot we will be ahead of everyone else who goes without a plan!
