Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that you have a FUTURE Cal Poly Pomona Bronco right here! Yes out of the 4 colleges i got accepted to (San Diego State University, Chico State University, Montana State Bozeman, and Cal Poly Pomona), i chose Cal Poly Pomona. It is about 40 mins east on LA (so close to Disneyland now). Im sure there are other teens out there that are going off to college next year, so tell everyone else about it. I know this is a big step for me, and probably for everyone else as well. All the parents out there that have kids going off should be very proud, because i know mine are.

So even if your not a teen, but a proud mother/father/aunt/uncle/cousin/grandparent of someone who is going off to college, tell us where they are going!

Congratulations on your choice...it's nice to kow that the decision making is all done..time to put your energy into getting ready to go!

norah will be goign to Depauw University in Indiana...a mere 22 hours from home!

Ashli is going to attend Western KY University.

Congratulations, Maggie, and to all the other teens (and if you are an older 'returnee', you too :)). Best wishes and good luck in the years to come, you guys will love it!!!!!!! My best!!!! :sunny:

Congratulations!!!

My DS is off to University of North Texas - just 15 minutes away. He didn't really want to leave home yet.

I have no *real* relatives going off to college, but I can brag about my friends - my big "brothers and sisters", right? ;) :) I have friends going to UCSD, USC, UCR, Chico State, and Tulane. One friend is going to either Berkeley or UCSD. Another friend is trying to decide between Harvard and Georgetown. (She is the amazing one of the group. ;) ) There are a lot more, but my close friends are going to the colleges listed.

I'M GONNA BE A TIGER!!!!! and it's only a 17 hour drive mom and you flew the plane flights a few weeks ago..it's not that much of a pain to stop in baltimore for 3 hours:rolleyes:

YEAH MAGGIE!!! We graduate soon WHOO HOO!:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I'm also gonna boast and brag about one of my bestest DIS friends EVER! Marissa (BabyLove99) will be attending Villanova next year :):bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc
So all of you Pennslyvanians and Indianans (sp?) better watch out cuz we're gonna be flying BACK and FORTH :)

I am returning to college :) I am doing it via correspondence through SUNY - Herkimer. Imagine this - my major is Travel and Tourism/Hospitality Mgmt....my options for minor are US Destinations or WALT DISNEY WORLD. Hmm...

Good luck to all going off for the first time. This will be my 4th college attended. The first was the best - away from home, living on my own. Being an adult. Now 7 years later, how I wish I had finished. But, I was afraid of losing my boyfriend back home. We ended up getting married, so it was probably a good decision for me to leave, but don't let things like that get in the way of your dreams. We still would have gotten married had I stayed at school..

make a lot of friends, DON'T SKIP CLASSES (very tempting, and I paid dearly for doing so), and have fun.

I'll be finishing up my interpreter training program at Miami Dade Community College this year.

My DS will be graduating from Sacred Heart University next month, my "middle" DD will be finishing her junior year at Long Island University Southampton, and my youngest DD will be entering Alfred University in the Fall.

And me........I'll be graduating to "Empty Nest" status.:teeth:

Congrats to all of the DIS teens who are embarking on this exciting part of life's journey. I wish you great success!

After a difficult decision making process my DS is off to Clemson University this fall ( he was accepted at 6 schools so it was a tough call) I think I win the contest for fartherest from home-it is 1597 miles from Denver, Co to Clemson SC.

Maggie - we visited Poly-Pomona with my younger DS - he liked it but decided against going to SoCal. (He & his brother are at Chico.)
So, is that a few hours drive from home? Close enough for long weekends, but far enough away otherwise.
Congratulations!

I'll be going to Texas A&M-Kingsville for graduate work!

Congratulations!!!!

I'll be attending Northeastern University (my first choice!!) in Boston. I'm soooo excited I've been counting down the days til college since freshman year. :)

I'll be studying art, hopefully something Disney related is in my future.

Pomona is about a 2 hour drive from SD.. so it is far enough for me. It's like i wanted to move outta the house and move away from the family, but i didn't want to be like across the country or anything. My best friend is going up to UC Santa Cruz (ahhh its so far away!), about 7 of my friends will be going to UCLA (congrats to them), another friend is going to Yale (WHOOOPEEE), and alot of my other friends will be staying in San Diego. I will probably come home like once a month knowing how attached i am to family members :) (thats what i am saying now lol...)

I am a parent of a HS senior and he has narrowed it down to 2 out of the 7 that he was accepted. We are doing a final college visit next week, so we should know soon.

Congratulations to all those who are graduating.

I personally don't know anyone going to school, but I wanted to wish you and everyone else starting all the best :)
