After a pretty good long walk over to the Contemporary I finally meet back up with the family. Normally I would get business taken care of right then and there but believe me....I was dealing with a bunch of STUPID people who probably did not know their own last names. Everyone knows when times get hard the BEST are the first to go because they get paid more for better work. In most cases this is true and we all know it. I'm going to assume here all the nice decent people have been laid off or at least transferred away from the Magic Kingdom. CM was closed now but I was allowed to join them anyway. I just put the incident in the back of my head. I knew eventually I'd find someone with enough sense to fix it.
This was my first time back at Chef Mickey's since the refurb was completed. I was looking so forward to this meal. They always had the best salmon out of anyone in WDW and my mouth was watering just thinking about it. Boy was I disappointed when I got up to the bar and saw that it was covered in a red sauce and looked more like sushi! Still, I took a little piece and put it on my plate hoping for the best. I went back to the table and more characters had come around.
BTW nothing is really in order here. We were visited twice or more by Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey but had to make them bring over Minnie and Donald! Even after the handler asked if we had seen them (none of the tables over there had been visited and there was about 12 tables, maybe more) they still didn't show up. Our server had to go in the back and remind them to come back out.

So anyway, I go back to the table and try the salmon. Ew! OMG nasty! Wanted to puke. It tasted like cat food smells. I had gotten me a couple of those Mickey ravioli's too and those were the same. Decent. Better than Tutto Italia I will say. So I went back up to try some of the carved meats. I waited a good 10 minutes for them to serve me while they talked amongst themselves in another language. I thought this was rude as hell! Finally I get a piece of turkey which was decent as well and a small side of tortellini. That was good. Our server at CM's was great. He looked just like the gay guy from that makeover show that used to be on TV. I think his name was Carson or Carlson!? Anyway, he looked so much like him. All I can say is Chef Mickey's changed after that refurb and not for the better. We will go back but it will be for breakfast, not dinner. Sidney eats everything and he said most of the food was not up to par. The buffet stayed full and was changed out like any other time so it had nothing to do with sitting food. It just was not as good as before.
After dinner I went back to the resort we'd stayed in during the December visit and asked for a front desk manager and explained the ticket situation to the clerk. He got me someone immediately. I gave the tickets to the woman, told her everything that happened at the MK, and she started looking into it. Turns out when we checked in to the resort they made 4 tickets for us. Then 4 seconds later they made new cards. We were never given the first set of cards. I'm not sure why they reprinted them, neither is she. But she went on to discover tickets were never added to the second set of cards. Somehow they were refunded. She looked to see where this refund went to and it was like it was just refunded to air. Those of you who do the free dining gig know that tickets (at least a one day ticket per person) must be purchased in order to get free dining.) This is why we had purchased the one day tickets. They are not allowed to refund those because it would void the free dining. Plus she could see nothing was put back on a CC or issued as a room credit, etc. Our plan was to keep those tickets since one day tickets never expire and use the $ value towards a water park annual pass Summer of 2009. A WP AP is $99 so it would have been about $25 to upgrade each ticket. That was our intention with the tickets.
Well, here we were 8 months later. She said she could replace my one day tickets but they would not have a cash value for that upgrade. I told her what our plan was.....upgrading to WP passes and all. Well she asked us if she did 8 one day ultimate park hoppers if that would be okay. This would give us two visits to the water parks during that visit as well as two nights at DisneyQuest which my kids love. I asked them if that would be okay and they said sure! She was great about everything. She told us details of what happened. Apologized for their mess up and the way the MK acted, not that she had to. She didn't do it but she felt so bad about us being late to dinner plus my missing out on most of it. At this point I felt someone had made an effort to make things right. If the MK couldn't figure things out they should have sent me back to the resort. She didn't have to be a B and accuse us of using the tickets which, come to find out, we NEVER even had! BTW she said this early on into the ordeal over at MK. Instead of being a B she could have just said, "Ma'am...I don't understand what's going on....can you take these back to ____ and let them handle it." It's simple. I guess they figured I'd just go on and let things be. Not sure about you folks but $300 is hard to come by in my house and I will not let such a thing slide! This was the second time since March that WDW tried to sock it to me. I suppose they are trying to pay for the Fantasyland expansion any way they can. Even if it does involve screwing people over!
In the end I got refunded for the extra room charge back in March because I had paperwork to prove my story. (ALWAYS GET PRINTED COPIES OF ANY TRANSACTION!!!!!!!) In that case we moved from Pop to the Wilderness Lodge and although Pop sent a credit over to the WL they claimed to have never gotten it so they charged my CC after I returned home. I had the receipt though that showed the credit. After a $10 phone call and a fax showing the credit they refunded my money. My CC had started an investigation on them as well. They were so hateful, OMG, never in my life have I dealt with such mean people and never did they apologize for
their error! Then this ticket thing.

Also, if you have AP's and buy these one day tickets to get free dining
SEPARATE THEM FROM THE PACKAGE BEFORE YOU CHECK IN AND GET A PAPER TICKET!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you do this! Not every CM is comfortable with doing this because it can mess things up if they make a mistake but find someone who knows what they're doing and have it done! At least then you have a real ticket in your hand!
