I guess I was clueless (and you probably all know this) but the coffee table in the room has a lift mechanism so you can raise it way up (like an office chair) so you can sit and eat at a normal level. Now, I only noticed this like the day we disembarked, but I thought I would pass this along.

I didn't know it!! My dad read it some where just a few weeks ago and our last cruise was 10/03!!!! Maybe this cruise we can take advantage of it :)

Yes, glad you reminded me! I read it in the Passporter but forgot!
Thanks, Mike

Is this in Cat. 5 as well? I'll have to check it out.

I would assume it is the same everywhere you have a coffee table. We had a plain veranda room (not a suite or anything)

They didn't for us and we had room service once if not twice a day :flower1:

Coming up on our 4th DCL cruise in a few short hours & I never knew it! Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for letting us know! I do think that this is something that room service should do or at least make people aware of when they bring the meal!

While DH and I were getting ready for dinner one evening, our bored DD5 proudly discovered the coffee table trick. Go figure! princess:

disneysooz,

That does not surprise me, kids are also the ones that could get those childproof doors open and everything else childproofed while we struggle with them. So it only makes sense that a 5 year old is needed to figure this out.
I think my DS - 6 at the time, also discovered this.

i love these boards!! thanks for posting this useful tip :flower1:

We've cruised 3 times and never new that! We've even ordered room service and they didn't adjust the table. Checking out the coffee table sounds like a good reason to book a fourth cruise to me, don't you think? :boat:

Our room service attendant showed us that as well. We moved the table against our DD3's sofabed at the right height to serve as a little extra protection in case she decided to toss and turn her way near the edge of the bed.

oh yea, well my son (14) go figure, likes to ride on the darn coffee table. I had to tell him to stop 3 times and to get down off of it before he broke it....hahahahaha

he pumps it all the way up, sits on it and then slowly lowers it..says it's an awesome ride when you can't be in disney on one in the park..

and to think you spend all your money on a cruise when all you really need is an adjustable coffee table....

My little ones enjoyed rides on the coffee table too. We would raise it up so they were able to stand on it and see the view from our two little portholes.
