Codes for Early December

I'm thinking of booking a trip for early December 04 and wondering if there might be any codes available for that time. Have there been codes in the past for that time of the year? I'm thinking of either Wilderness Lodge (if I can get a code) or POFQ. Also, when is the best time to book, is it too early to do it now? I guess if I book now and a code comes out I could always call and change it.

We used codes when we went in 2002 (didn't know about them in 2000). They ususally expire just before Christmas, if they have them.

also thinking about an early 12/04 trip.....any ideas about least expensive way to do the GF for adults x 5 and kids x 3? (suite ?, 2 rooms?) pirate:

I booked a stay at WL for Dec. 8-12 at a AAA rate of $183 per night, courtyard view. I booked it several weeks ago, and they said they were filling up faster than last year (marketing ploy?) Whatever...I can always rebook it using a code if one comes out for a better rate. the reservation can be cancelled I believe up to five days before arrival. Better lock something in now.

I also reserved 4 rooms at the WL two weeks ago for 12/4-12/11 and the CM told me the same thing - rooms were filling up fast for early December. So far, we're paying rack rates, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for AP discounts. I just did not want to take the chance of not getting any room!

Hmmm...anyone have ideas as to why the resorts might be filling up faster this year for Dec.?? I hope it's not too busy there!! :earseek:

I am beginning to think the same thing. I called last week to book AAA Standard view and had to book Woodsview because there were no more standard view discounted views available. I am beginning to think it is going to be very busy this time of year, otherwise, the WL will just be very busy! This is our first time we will be staying at WL, we wanted to go here for the Christmas decorations. Are the decorations really the best at WL?

The Wilderness Lodge will probably fill up the fastest for December because it is the most "Christmas-feeling". We stayed at the AKL this December and thought the decorations were really nice. We also visited the Grand Floridian and the Yacht/Beach Clubs and the Boardwalk Inn which were also nicely decorated. If codes do come out for December, there probably won't be a whole lot of availability at the Wilderness Lodge.

I am also going in the beginning of December, from 11-28-04 thru 12-05-04. I am at the Poly LVC paying AAA rate of 399.50 before tax and 445.44 tax included. This rate is per night. Is there a chance I could get a better rate in the future?

I originally had reservations at the Contemporary for Dec. 8-12, then changed them to the WL. I was told the same thing at both places--they're filling up early. I also checked the week prior, Dec. 2-Dec 5, and, again, both places are filling up fast. I found if I tried to book online I never got a standard rate, they always showed an upgraded or even concierege level. When I called, they had more economical rates available. However, you have to specifically ask, they don't volunteer that information. Historically, those two weeks have always been the slowest time at WDW. I wonder if something is different this year and attendance is up, or if this is just a marketing ploy by WDW to make us feel pressured into getting our ressies while they last. I certainly don't want to go during a crowded time. That's why I'm taking my kids out of school for a few days for our trip, rather than risk the crowds during Christmas vacation. Otherwise, we might as well go during Christmas vacation (Oh,yes, I know I'm being politically incorrect and insensitive calling it Christmas vacation, however, I just don't feel like coming up with some other "offend no one" name for it.)

In our school system its called Winter Break. No Christmas parties are allowed, but they do have a Winter Carnival. Children can exchange cards, gifts, gifts for the teacher as long as there's no religious message, pictures of a religious nature, the presents can't even be wrapped in paper which says Merry Christmas! The cards can't say Merry Christmas, either. They can say something like "Seasons Greetings", but that's it. Santa is still ok, but barely. Some parents didn't want any reference to Santa in decorations, cards, etc., because his origins is that he was a saint (St. Nickolaus). I just wrap my kids presents in plain red paper. I'm always afraid my kids will get suspended if they say "Merry Christmas" while at school. Seperation of church and school is one thing, but we should at least be able to aknowledge our own religion without fear of stepping on someone's toes. Just like the movie "The Passion of Christ". some Jewish groups don't like it because it portrays Jews in a bad light. Well, then, don't go to it. I thought Freedom of Speech was still around. Oh, well,....just hope we can have a nice CHRISTMAS trip to WDW!!!
