Codes concern LONG

It's a great time to be wealthy in the United States; for the rest of us, not so much.

That said, I agree 100% with CarolA, and Disney is free to charge whatever the market will bear for its rooms.

Dear CarolA,
I really don't believe this post is or is not about affending you. I feel very strongly that the message this post sends is wrong!!!
Under NO circumstances should a Disney representative be harsh or inappropriate to a guest!!! Your sugesstion that 'our' behave may have something to do with 'their' behave is an attitude of control. As though we the consumer can or should add or restrain from certain behavior is definetly insulting! Disney HAS the control and everyone knows that. They, the (Disney) reps need to regain their composure and represent themselves professionally under ALL circumstances. Even regardless of the behave towards them. It is not personal, it is business is the mantra I hear often on this board. Soooooo lets expect the same from Disney and not allow this board to promote 'personal attitude' as an excuse for a 'professionals' bad behavior.

A little background to my position: I have started to send some friends to these boards recently and I highly recommended to them to view all the stickies before they post. In this case I am afraid they will follow my advise and wrongly beleive that it is their 'duty' to accept any inappropriate behavior the CM on the other end of the line cares to dish out. This sticky says to them....please be polite when you call(I stongly agree) and if you are not treated politely then just remember they had a tough day......oh and in the future if you find out other people are calling Disney alot, please stop calling yourself, because you will only add fuel to the fire and get treated badly. The needs of the Disney rep are Very important here. You've been warned!!!

Please do not be personally offended by my position. I feel strongly about the issue of 'deserved abuse' and I really think you do not see that you make that point in your post.

As I stated earlier... it takes a LOT more then a post on a message board to offend me.

However, if you tone in person is near as pleasant as the tone in this post... I have said that CM's should not be rude... the return side of that is the caller should also be polite. I believe (and I have no proof) that at least some of the "I got a rude CM's" are occuring when the caller is rude to the CM. They are only human not machines and when the caller gets on his/her high horse and TELLS the CM all about how WRONG it is etc that they aren't getting a discount....(And I have read enough posts here to know that happens... There are posters who proudly post how they TOLD the CM that Disney was all wrong and how they TOLD the CM XYZ....)

In life you sometimes get what your reap. As I have repeatedly said the original post was a plea for folks to be NICE to both the CM and each other... doesn't seem to be working....

When a poster states " We pay their salaries" I know they are approaching the CM's with a superior attitude. That IS rude and obnoxious!
I just responded to a Disney survey sent this morning. It was mostly about packages vs room only and what type of passes do I use. They also wanted to know if the free dining inticed me more then the room discount! Which it did. I have an AP and a AAA but gave up the room discount for the dining. In fairness I do have DVC for the better part of my trip. I think they are indeed re-evaluating their discounts and how to best satisfy the masses.

You have GOT to be kidding. Why on earth do you think it is "insulting" for a consumer to act like a civilized adult? Carol was just suggesting that folks calling CRO try not to take their frustrations out on the person on the other end of the phone call. Disney CORPORATE "has the control" not the poor CRO representative who does not make policy but has to put up with arrogant who believe they are entitled to have Disney employees give them anything and everything they want. How would you like to be the person on the other end of the phone hearing adults throwing tantrums like 2-year-olds. (I WANT MY AP CODE!!!! WHY CAN'T I HAVE MY AP CODE??? I GOT IT LAST YEAR, AND MY BEST FRIEND WHO WENT IN APRIL GOT HERS!!!! - insert kicking and screaming) Gee, no wonder they aren't always 100 percent in a happy mood.

I'm sure the reason why Disney is not releasing AP codes for the summer is because ... they don't have to. It's their busiest season, and most Americans are traveling more because they either have more disposable income and/or they have more confidence in the airlines. There are plenty of folks willing to pay rack rate. I'm sure AP codes will appear in the fall when Disney needs to fill up their rooms.

Codes, schmodes! I'm just happy that I got a room with "free eats"....now, WHERE'S the buffet line :scratchin:.....?!?!?! :teeth:

Lucky!!

I missed out on AP code, free dining,AND deluxe value season because of my inflexible dates. Disney has spoiled me all these years, saving me $1000 average per trip every time. Thank goodness for AAA, so at least I don't have to pay rack rates this year. :cheer2:

....Ohhhh, you KNOW that I will...just stop by my "JAMBO! The Unofficial...." Thread when I get back..... ;)

New_mouser,

I am not kidding. My point of view is that the origional post could elude to some innocent 'lurkers', the wrong impression about calling Disney's CRO. I feel strongly that CarolA has a valid point and should be able to exprees it in a polite manner, which she did, but some of her advise is opinion. My point is that it should not be a 'sticky' but just a post with good information....an opinion.
I also think that CRO should not under ANY circumstance speak harsly to a customer. If a customer is being abusive then they, the CRO rep, can forward that call to a manager and stop the abuse from affecting them immediately. The consumer does not need to bee warned of CRO mood swings. NO one can CAUSE anyone's else's behavior...they only choose how to REACT.
My point......... do not promote allowing CRO reps to mistreat ANY person calling CRO for any reason or under any circumstance!

Same here. Lots of good points. (And this is from a person who wants an AP code for September pretty bad.) I got a TA who specializes in WDW, just so I didn't have to focus on this myself.

We've paid rack rate. :sad2: received 15% savings with Disney Club membership, :cool1: great savings with personal codes vie e-mail, and fantastic savings of up to 40% off with AP discounts. :dance3:

We have a fixed budget for our annual WDW vacation. The greater the savings on resort fees, the greater the resort experience. We've stayed at moderate resorts (parking lot view), delux resorts(standard view) and even concierge at AKL, Poly, Yacht Club! :jumping1:

The only time my family has been disapointed about WDW was having to cancel last year's vacation because of extensive damage to our home from Hurricane Rita. :darth: As a matter of fact, we are all having terrible WDW withdrawals. :furious:

No matter the cost. No matter the status of the resort. There is no place like WDW. We are going again this year, barring no more Cat 3, 4, or 5 Hurricanes. :mickeyjum pixiedust: :teleport:

...well, I hope that your home is back to normal  so you can enjoy another WDW vaca......

Thanks for the great post, Carol. Half the fun for me is planning the next trip, and that includes where, how much $, etc. 101 days to the Dolphin!!!

Good post, CarolA. Now if people will just read it. Makes a lot of sense. I see people worrying about summer codes. Since Disney released the free dining for Aug and Sept, maybe that will be it for the summer.

Even with the price of gasoline.
What free dining does this refer to?

Good question - it doesn't seem to be "sticky" material at all.
