Coach's Mardi Gras Trip to UF 2010 Updated- #11- Final Update

yah!! I was hoping to find an update this morning! 6 Weeks from today we will be there!! Your trip is just adding to my excitement !! Great looking family, can't wait to read more :goodvibes
6 weeks, outstanding!!! It will be nice and warm by then.. going to be perfect for you :cloud9: Glad I could "fuel your fire". Thanks for the compliment, I do thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful family.
I love the walk to Margaritaville! Ok, the parks are there, too, but really, who can't relax when they see the Lone Palm?! You guys look ready to take on some rides!

Maria :upsidedow
Yeah the walk right up next to Margaritaville was really nice.. it really sets your mind at ease.. We certainly were ready to knock out some rides.. and HR3 was FIRST on the list!!!

Great update! Randy looks like a beautiful day....club level looks really nice.

The weather was just a bit cold on some of the days, but it was dry, and beautiful everyday. This day was especially nice.. it was cool, but the sun was out.. and we all just felt really happy and excited as we were walking up to the parks.. It was a special moment..

Yes we will absolutely do club level again if we can afford it when we return to UF in the future (maybe next summer???).

So we just made our walk to Universal Studios, it was cool, and absolutely beautiful. He hit the turnstiles and head straight for HR3!!! Now Zach (7 yo) had been upset for the last few weeks because after I measured him (several times at his request) he was coming up about an inch short to ride the Hulk (one of my favorite coasters). He really wanted to take on the Hulk, and was very upset when he found out he could not. He was excited when he found out that he would be tall enough for HR3.. so as soon as we got close to the turnstiles he wanted to make sure:

Boy was he happy!!!

So we walk hurriedly over to the new coaster and there it is...

It had a not-so-nice waiting time..

And with it being brand new and all...no express pass line :sad1:

So I asked who wanted to ride.. My wife took one look at the first launch and dip.. and said "NO WAY".. Zach thought about it.. looked at the first drop and agreed with Mommy:

So Chase and I jumped in the single rider line, and started to wait. It took about 45 mins.. but we both got on..right after each other.. and it was GREAT!!! Two things really set this coaster apart- #1 The ability to set your own "sound track" as you are riding (I selected Motley Crew's "Kick Start My Heart" as my first song with HR3) really adds a personal feel to the ride and adds to the enjoyment. #2 The ability to watch yourself via video during theh ride after it is over on a small monitor is great as well. Chase and I loved it, and vowed to take it on again several times during this trip. Zach even mentioned how he might want to try it later in the week.. Mommy not so much :lmao:

Up next- morning pics of the RPR..

the burning question of the day.

does mommy and zach do HR3 during this trip?

I'm with Mommy too. On our last trip my kids talked me into trying Dueling Dragons & the Hulk.....never again:scared1: The Hulk was ok, but we rode in the front row of Ice on DD, I kept my eyes closed the whole time and missed the visual of the entire ride, which my DS says is the best part(no way I could ever keep my eyes open on this ride) at least I tried.:sad2:

Danny, Dayne, and Joe (Joe's only concern is that the music it too loud) can't wait, Gwendolyn not sure yet and well mom has to stay with Ashton :rolleyes1: :rotfl2: not getting me on that thing...last year we stopped and looked at it (we had missed the opening by a month --I believe). Even Danny said he would have to think about that drop!

When we went in 2001 Dayne managed to get on the Hulk (he was about 1/2" to short--and way to light)...Danny said he almost slid out I need to see if I can find the picture and post it... he was sooooo little! So, don't push Zach too fast he'll get there...I wanted to kill Danny when they told me the story, all along I thought he was too little and Danny kept telling me not to let "my fear of roller coasters" stop our son from having fun :scared:
:wave2:Connie

Wow does that first dip look scary  We are all coaster nuts, but this one might be the first one I skip out on ........... 75 minute wait too, ouch.

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I'm also a Mommy who just said no, too. I like coasters, but I can't handle the ascent like an astronaut!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, even with a bit of a wait. I'm glad your little guy was tall enough for everything at the Studios, that makes it much more fun!

I've been on a few times. The first drop isn't anything that special if you are a roller coaster fanatic like myself. It isn't anything close to a straight drop down..and its just for like 2 sec..If anything I think Rip Ride Rockit is pretty tame..I consider it more of a family type coaster b/c the drops aren't that big..and it doesn't go upside down or anything..

I agree with Mommy!
I figured you and your husband, would!
I love coasters but that drop is a bit much for me !
It is pretty nasty -especially the first time!!! :scared1:

No.. we never push our kids to ride anything.. they know it is totally up to them if they want to ride or not.. no pressure.. Zach will ride it when he's ready.. he is a bit of a daredevil ;)

Once you get over the initial drop the first time.. it is a great coaster...

After riding it.. I agree, nodoubt.. however I did have an "incident" later in the week with this coaster.. two trips on it + motion sickness = But that story coming later...

Have a great weekend everyone!!

You have a great weekend as well! Not sure what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but here in New York this weekend is looking sweeeet :goodvibes

Sunshine and 40's.......I will take it after all the snow we had last week.

I actually was more scared on the climb going up. I wasn't used to being in that position before and I was screaming my head off. :lmao:

Another great update!

Hope you have a great weekend as well! It's starting to warm up a bit down here.. probably just going to last a few days though. ;)

Love the report. Going next week for the first time ever. Thanks for writing!

Ok Coach, you had the weekend off. It's Monday, lets go....:rotfl2: Ready for another update when you are !:lmao:

LOL.. you got it.. update coming soon!!!

We had a fantastic weekend.. we went to the New Orleans Museum of Art Saturday afternoon and evening, and they had a Disney Exhibit going on.. it was great!!! I was amazed at how hard the early artists had to work on the Disney classics.. did you know it took them 10 years to draw and produce
Snow White??? WOW!!!

My wife, Brave teacher and her hubby, and some other family came along.. we explored the exhibit, and then went eat a very nice restaraunt. It was a great time.

Just catching up with the update...........fantastic, enjoyed reading it and love the pictures.........and look forward to seeing if Zach braves the ride :thumbsup2
