CMO TOP 10 Announced

So much cool stuff going on!
More later, but I just had to say that I was just doing my morning voting, and for every vote I made on the CMO site I cast a vote for the Fleagles in my heart.
Cheers!

HOORAY! Another non-vote! Thank Circusgirl! :yay:

I just always assumed that it was another example of the bad writing/horrible editing done on the contest rules.

It clearly states the top 3 will be there April 16th - 22nd. But online voting for top 3 is April 14 - 21st.

There is an implication that what they do at the park with be photographed/video'd and then we vote based on this extra material.
"The Grand Prize Application Process will require each Finalist Prize Winner to perform specific tasks, as designated by Disney Destinations, at the Walt Disney World® Resort and each Finalist Prize Winner will be videotaped and photographed performing such tasks (collectively, "Grand Prize Video Application") ... Individuals who go to http://www.dreamcmo.com between 12:00 a.m. ET on April 14, 2008 and 11:59:59 PM ET on April 21, 2008, ("Grand Prize Voting Period") will be asked to view the three (3) Grand Prize Video Applications and vote for their favorite."

But I don't see how that's possible, do you? As I said bad editing or really bad math!

I don't see how that's possible!

Ok, I have NO idea what it would be... But we absolutely should have the DIS America Pageant.

HMF... love you, my son, and I sincerely appreciate the sentiment, but I definitely disagree.

To say that I was robbed implies that others who advanced were not worthy. In my opinion there were many videos better than mine that didn't even make the Top 20. And with Andy not making it... I certainly can't lay claim to being in even 11th place.

I'm pretty proud of the DIScademy Awards and the other fun stuff (which were all group efforts by the way). But none of those thing were in the framework of the contest. So, I may have shown you guys something, but I didn't show Careerbuilder and Disney enough.

No flames coming here on the "uninspired" front. It is not the job of the voters to be inspired. It is the job of the candidates to do the inspiring. So if you are not inspired to vote...then a candidate or two ought to see that as an opportunity to get your votes.

Another great Fleagle Idea! We could have all the cat-o-tars enter and chose the winner with Fleagle online voting!

There were a couple of press releases last year, but that's about all there was outside of PR trying to help each person locally. Most of the traffic was driven by the contestants I believe.

I have been a little concerned about this since the voting started. While I think our contestants have done some great things, I am not sure that there is a real focus on getting traffic. Having verbal support is good, but keys on the keyboard are better.

A voting location where I had people sitting and voting in shifts (where I fed and entertained) would work. Online ads that drove traffic to my page would also be a good investment.

How many people listening to a radio show or reading the paper are going to vote mutiple times (if once)?

I also agree with your point about interest waning. You need a contest, daily message, or even a serial "story" to get people coming back and voting every day.

I wish we could get tracking stats on the individual voting pages. That would be really interesting...

I don't know that I could do better than anyone else overall, this is just a little think that has been bugging me.

Well now I'm definitely biting my tongue. ;)

The personal blogs and the easy to find links are a real plus for this year's candidates. Here's my page link from last year, it doesn't work anymore. (Yes I saved everything!)

I know for sure that Tim and I each threw voting parties. I used my kid's school computer lab and gave everyone pizza and drinks for helping. We had 13 people voting non-stop (sorta) for 4 hours.

All the HM Butlers that were part of doombuggies got banner ads for free on that site that rotated. Some even paid for the priveledge to have more. It's too late for that now though. Banner ad placement takes 7-10 days with google etc...

I'm still trying to find more detailed stats!

Wow, how about going military time, and it would be 24 at 24? Not sure it would result in a xx% voting increase. (I'm old - I don't have to do math anymore if I don't want to! :) )

But that would translate into like a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show - except a g-rated version!

Let's do the TIME VOTE again!
It's just a click to the left,
and then enter the type,
Click submit vote now,
and wait a real long time.
But it's the close window now,
That really drives you in-saaaaaane!
Let's do the TIME VOTE again!

Too funny!!

I actually strategically chose 10 and not 11 or 12 because I didn't want it to be too late at night for folks who may go to bed early!

My suspicion is that I'd win that one! I know all the keyboard shortcuts. I never have to take my hands off the keyboard after clicking vote the first time.

Me, too. However, I'd need the video to run in a seperate window because I don't vote from the main page.

first of all, i have to say thank you to EVERYONE who has offered advice, encouragement, love, and criticism! the ideas of getting the press involved have been great--i've certainly sent my "activity" ideas for broadcasting appeal, but if they don't want to participate, i'll see what i can do to bring something creative to their front door.

i'm afraid that i'm not as technologically savvy as justin at this point, so my multi-quoting might blow this all up. still, the short of it is that i am grateful to read what you all said (and to see all the new catotigger avatars--great work!). i'm going to take the criticism to heart, and i appreciate the spirit in which it was given.

btw, the myspace/facebook alley has already been taken. i guess i hadn't mentioned that before because i assumed it fell under the title of my "email blast." i've had friends posting rotating bulletins about voting for me--and several have put my website as their opening quote! you're right, though. there's always more to do.

ok, i'm headed back out to the magicmobile. there are walgreens associates who haven't been dusted with pixie dust yet...

again, sincere thanks to all....hopefully i can help turn this around and make some people proud and INSPIRED!!

WOW! You guys are just awesome! I finally got caught up, it's the longest it's ever taken me, and I just couldn't stop reading! REALLY GOOD STUFF! All the ideas and perspectives, and stories of all people did last year--I love it! It's really exciting, and encouraging too. It feels like things are taking off now. :thumbsup2

190,310 votes so far!! So have we all votes 4,000 times total today???

That is exactly what I'm talking about, meggin's magicmobile, creative and didn't take a lot of effort. She is getting exposure just by driving around..... now if you could just carry a laptop and wi-fi signal somehow you could have people vote for you in traffic. :rotfl:

Good stuff! Fun! What's the record? I want to see if I can beat it.

For your information: The current reported record is 12 votes in 60 seconds.

I would have thought it would be higher, but apparently it is taking at least 5 seconds per vote. There have been rumors of a vote count of 15, but that person failed the drug test (who knew steroids could even find their way into internet voting!), and it is believe that a person who logged 13 votes was wind-aided (track and field reference for anyone who doesn't catch those events at the olympics!)

So, NOW, the challenge is on. Who can beat 12 votes in the 60 second window? Of course, in fairness to the other people who have tried their hand at this, the record only stands if they are from my page. How else can we guarantee consistency?? ;)

Let's hear 'em . . . what's the best you can do??

:thumbsup2

Laptop and wi-fi, great idea HMF!

Now, how do I make that actually work . . . ?

In case you didn't read my post from earlier today, I had a 1:00 meeting at starbucks. I took some of my business cards with me and handed one to every person in the place - specifically focusing on the ones with computers in front of them (gotta love the starbucks wi-fi). Several of them took the time right there to log in and check out my video. I can't guarantee that they voted, but I know they laughed!

My own little experiment...in one minute I voted 10 times and the counter registered 32 votes. So in that one minute, my vote counted for 1/3 of the votes!! woo hoo -- what power!!:lmao:

Which counter are you refering to? Is there one that is constantly updating so we can see totals?

Well at somewhere like a Starbucks or Panera that would have free Wi-Fi, the connection is easy enough..... its the approaching strangers with a laptop that would prove tough.

Tink that's GREAT!!!! Please let us know how they go! Can we see you in either of these????

Well one of the projects is an emotional coaching parenting program for survivors of domestic violence so I HOPE none of you get to see that one.

The pilot is called “Book Club” and will be promoted online hopefully by late spring. We film next month. I only down side is that I was cast as "the heavy set one" but evidently I'm not heavy enough so I will probably be padded...so much for glamour of acting.
I turn 40 today so this acting gig is a nice b’day present.:wizard:
