OPENING STATEMENT FROM AMY KATE

Thank you for inviting me to the Disbate! I wish I knew more about discussion forums and blogging. It sounds like a great way for a community to come together to share in their common interests and passions.

Opening Statement for Justin Muchoney

Good evening! I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for coming out tonight to join us. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about each of the candidates, but more importantly, for US to learn about you. The more people we know, the more relationships we have, and the more we listen, the better prepared we will be to make magic happen and dreams come true.

At this point, I suppose it is safe to assume that everyone here has seen the videos. If not, please check mine out here - http://www.dreamcmo.com/justin

So, aside from what I say in the video, what makes me the ideal candidate to be your first ever Chief Magic Official? Hopefully you will have a chance over the course of tonight’s debate to get to know me well enough to answer that question for yourself. If not, please let me assure you that I am a passionate Disney fan. I constantly read books on Walt, Imagineering, Theme Park Design, Animation, and any other Disney topic I can find. I enjoy Disney films and often find them to be the best reflection of the spirit that dwells within me. My craze for the Disney Parks is hard to describe. Admittedly, I am more familiar with the parks of Walt Disney World in Florida, but I have visited Disneyland and I have profound appreciation for its place in American – not just entertainment – history.

We are all Disney fans, though. If not, we wouldn’t be here enjoying this discussion as we are. So what else sets me a part? I believe that it is my exuberant personality and my love for and faith in other people. For me, this contest is not about seeing one of my dreams come true. Of course this is a dream for me, but I see this opportunity as so much bigger than me. This is about being a part of everyone else’s dreams. I sincerely believe that my love for all people, my willingness to listen and care, and my limitless desire to see the dreams of everyone around me become reality are my greatest strengths.

In the interest of brevity and so that we can move on to learn more about all of these wonderful candidates; I suppose I can summarize my qualifications as such. My unique combination of attributes sets me apart from other candidates. As an extremely outgoing person, I have absolutely no fear in front of crowds or one-on-one. My experiences as a high school and elementary school teacher and church music director have allowed me to encounter a truly diverse range of people and I feel equally comfortable talking, sharing, laughing, and connecting with them all. Additionally, while I have an infectious personality, I also possess strong values and enough maturity to know that in any situation I will make you proud to have voted for me. Thank you!

OPENING STATEMENT FROM TRIPP:

*stepping back on to my political soap box* (Yep…still tall)

Welcome Friends, Fellow Top 10 Finalists, Dissers, Wearers of the Lime-Green Mickey Head, and all others who may be joining us tonight. For my opening statement I would like to quote post #205 on page 14 of this thread, when I responded to Kenny The Pirate’s request for a one sentence reason as to why I want to be YOUR CMO and of course I went well over a sentence because I have always been long winded, and now even my opening statement has become one long run-on sentence. Let’s get on with it:

“If you take a look at my qualifications: Passion For Disney, Knowledge of The Parks, Great Customer Service Provider, Always Putting Others Before Me, Personal Happiness and Fulfillment Comes From Making Others Happy, Love Working With Children of All Ages (We're all big kids at heart, right?), Outgoing Personality, Friendly, Easy To Talk To, and Fun To Be Around, you will see why I should be your CMO. As far as why I want to be CMO? I would love the opportunity to continue to spread my love and passion for Disney in a unique and much larger capacity.

I know this is supposed to only be a sentence but it's so hard to narrow it down. Like Kenny, I have seen first hand how a child’s face lights up when they meet their favorite character, or are asked to be in the Pirate Tutorial with Cap'n Jack, or find the key under the mat at Muppet Vision. I have seen the excitement in mom, dad, and kids in the bus line at All-Star Music while they prepare to walk into the Magic Kingdom for the very first time. It's that excitement that I want to carry with me and share with everyone as YOUR CMO!

Thank you so much for your support!

Candidates, even if you miss a question, feel free to post an answer to it later... We want to hear from you whenever you can share!

I'm not sure if Tangela and Jennifer are going to make it. I am told that everyone knew about the event!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,
Good Evening!!!
Thank you to everyone putting together this DISbate, and those of you attending.

I have loved everything Disney since the original Mickey Mouse Club and the opening of Disneyland. There truly is Magic I feel as “. . . You Leave Today and Enter the World of Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy!"
My grandmother scrimped and saved to take me to Disneyland when it first opened. Entering the park I wanted to go to the Mark Twain and grama and grampa went with me.
They left the park early and I roamed around and found an incredible thing! I was 14 years old and at Disneyland – you are not going to believe this – there were little cars that children could drive!! Amazing!! I drove and drove these cars called automobile utopia, autopia for short! 14 years-old driving my own car by myself around miniature freeways.

The rest of the story is not history, it is living magic. It doesn’t matter how many times I went to Disneyland – what matters is who I took. I took my mother’s neighbor boy, Earl, whose family could not afford to go and now Earl and his wife and two daughters go every year. I took my sister and about 30 or 40 other kids. My daughter and her “poor deprived” children (in my video) have never seen Knotts or the other marvelous Southern CA attractions, ‘cause they don’t want to. They all, and Vickie and I, only want to go to “THAT PLACE!”.

The Disney parks are not some kind of dream for me. The parks are another place where I live. My eyes are wet right now just from typing those two words, “that place”.

Hey there DISboard! CMO candidate Patrick Hurd here. I want to start by thanking you for the invitation, and giving me the opportunity to answer some of my fellow Disney fans questions. Also, a quick hello to the other CMO candidates that took the time to be join me here tonight.

FLEAGLE: Ladies and Gentlemen, the questions in this section of the DISbate will be asked of all candidates and have been provided to the candidates in advance. (Assuming they checked their PMs here since 6PM tonight)

I have pre-sent responses from Amy Kate, David H. and Tripp for most of the questions.

NOTE: If possible, please "quote" the post with each question in your responses

Question #1: Kenny the Pirate has refused to refer to Disney on the message boards, joking that he wants them to give him a free trip before he will advertise them any more. What do you think of that?

FROM TRIPP:

I think it’s brilliant negative advertising on his part (i.e. “Hey Don’t Call Now,” Don’t Listen,” “Don’t Do That.”). And it may pay off for him. As I have said before, Kenny made an incredible impact on both Disney and CareerBuilders.com last year (yeah I’ll mention the sponsors because I have no shame). They know him which means all the work he did last year marketing himself made a lasting impression on the powers that be and he is a great example of how you should be marketing yourself in this contest. His refusal to mention Disney is all in fun and a way to draw attention to himself. He is showing us how to do it people. Take notes.

Ah, what can ye do with a pirate? Seriously, though, I respect Kenny’s right to hold anyone he so desires hostage.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our brethren, Kenny, he was a winner in last years SPONSOR Dream Job Contest. So while he may feel that he has solid ground to stand on with them, I do not! So – sorry Kenny! – that is the last time tonight that I’ll have your back regarding your protest! I believe the fact that Disney and CareerBuilder.com come up with these contests is one way that Disney shows they have a respect and admiration for their fan base. So, while I respect Kenny’s position, I will go on record stating that I will gladly publicize the fine sponsors of this competition – Disney Destinations and CareerBuilder.com - as much as they want!

(okay, that may seem like a dastardly unloyal thing to do, but I'll make it up to you if I win! :thumbsup2 )

FROM DAVID H

With all the dialogue that lad's been havin with the common folk...it'd be in the best interest of the fine mouse to see there's a treasure waitin for him somewheres. Keepin the waters stirred ain't a bit easy ya know!"

I think it’s certainly a pirate’s responsibility to hold people at ransom for loot, and I understand that he is only acting under a pirate’s sacred code. However, if I become the official CMO, I’d offer him one of my official sponsor’s tickets as a peace offering. We want this pirate in our friendly seas.

Question #1: Kenny the Pirate has refused to refer to Disney on the message boards, joking that he wants them to give him a free trip before he will advertise them any more. What do you think of that?

FROM AMY KATE
I say stealth be the way a Great Captain takes a ship ripe for the plundering without firing a broadside into his pretty prey. Say not the name of your quarry till ye're close enough to throw your grapples and swarm aboard. Then raise the Jolly Roger and set terms for free passage and command what plunder ye may! Aye. That Kenny be a wise Captain. May his squadron grow and his name strike fear in the hearts of all who sail the Seven Seas burdened with phat loot.

Question #1: Kenny the Pirate has refused to refer to Disney on the message boards, joking that he wants them to give him a free trip before he will advertise them any more. What do you think of that?

If I am elected Disney CMO, I will grant KTP a free trip and Fleagle too, for all the work they have done to promote Disney. They will be flown to the Disney Studio in California where they will be awarded the trip by Michael Eisner himself.

Everyone did receive the information, I can't confirm if they will make it.

***Here's a great tip for following the DIScussion and posting. Right click on quote and open a new tab or window to post a reply. When that window is finished, close it and return to your current spot in the thread.

Amanda, I got your email and will send the magic moments and FP tips later.

Question #1: Kenny the Pirate has refused to refer to Disney on the message boards, joking that he wants them to give him a free trip before he will advertise them any more. What do you think of that?

Well the obvious thing to point out here is...PIRATE! Mr. "the Pirate" is of course free to or not to refer to Disney on the message boards as he likes. I was under the impression that he all ready got a free trip last year. I say, leave some free trips for everyone else you greedy greedy pirate. Of course who doesn't want free trips...and as I said...PIRATE! Just WHO does he think he is?!?

Aw heck, ya just cant stay mad at the guy...I mean, who doesn't love a pirate!

Ladies and Gentlemen, to ask the next question, please welcome back Pooh Bear!

POOH: Oh bother... I seem to have forgotten the question...

{TIGGER bounces onto the stage... he whispers in Pooh's ear}

TIGGER: A bit ironic, eh Pooh boy?

POOH: Um... I suppose if I knew what that meant, I might agree. Here is the question:

Question #2: What is your first Disney memory?
