CM yelled at me about the codes...

Villians...you're all alike !!! :teeth:

You just wait until I'm staying in Cindy's Castle during my discounted-without-sufficient-documentation-stay...if you're lucky I might just throw some crumbs down from my breakfast in the clouds.

pleazze, I already have ressies! do you? When you have stayed in the steeplechase suite at the boardwalk or any other 2 bedroom suite, like I have....in all the deluxe resorts, then we'll talk......K?;)

To the original poster, if it helps at all, I also had tossed my 40% card that came in the mail. The hubby ok'd a trip 2 days after card was recycled :P Anyway, I emailed Disney (clicked an email link on the official site) and explained what I had done and the next day a nice woman emailed me back with both the code and my pin number. Good luck!

Please excuse my ignorance..but I am clueless as to what's going on here. I have received postcard mailers in the past with discount codes/pin..but not in a few years. Am I to understand from some of the posts that some of you have info from the mailers of others and call and use them..or that you simply call central reservations and ask if they have a code for you? Is this for any particuluar time period?..appreciate the help?

Affirmative...that is what's going on:) There is actually a thread ...a list of all the folks who used a pin and/or code...its a heated debate.

I'm still missing something..is this the debate..over whether it's right or not to do that..or WHERE is this code? I haven't located that. I see that some of you have mentioned that you called and asked if there were discounts for in your names..??? Also for what time period is this code good for..and where or where..please may I find it?

well some of use legtimently got a postcard with a code and a pin...and there must have been a few people on here that felt the need to post what is was, called disney and still got ressies with it. Some of the CM's managed to give it away...people on here were proud that they worked it...bing, bang boom...

it turned into a debate........was it wrong? I think so...it is not something to brag about. as for time periods there were selected times thruout the year. and as for "please may I find it"..........not from me!

I'm sorry...I guess I'm just in a fowl mood today. My son's been sick and has missed two weeks of school due to a chronic cough (this is his third flare-up since September -- been absent a total of 25 days!). I feel so sorry for the kid. Our whole family is suffering from sleep deprivation because of him being up half the night. Our doctor has tried everything he can think of from post-nasal drip, to asthma, to acid reflux. And still the coughing continues.
:

I can totally sympathize with you here. I've had this horrible cough for 5 days now, I can't sleep at night (thank God for DIS boards and trip planning!) because of this cough then I'm exhausted all day. I had to go to work today because it's payday, and I still have to pick both kids up and shuttle them to sports. By the end of the day I had it. My poor DS was the last to be picked up and he got the worst of it. It's hard to be nice when you feel so sick.

I hope your son gets better soon. Sending prayers his way for a speedy recovery.

OP: After reading about the codes being offered I asked a CM about it while I was making my ressie, he explained to me that only certain people were given these codes, but you had to have a PIN attached to your name to use it. He offered to look it up for me, and said while I he did have a code, there was no PIN with our name. So there you go, they can see the PIN if they want to. Call again, some CM's are a lot more knowledgeable than others.

Thank you so very much!!! BTW, he is finally feeling better today...I hope you are too. :goodvibes

OP: this is totally OT but have you considered Allergies? Some people who have a "chronic" cough that comes and goes are actually allergic to something in their diet or in their environment. The book "Is This Your Child?" is really helpful.

I called and spoke with a really nice CM who gave me the PIN accidentally. When i called back to adjust something on the ressie, the woman practically yelled to me that i shouldn't have gotten it. After speaking with a supervisor in guest relations, i told her how rude the CM was and how upset I was. She sent me some disney dollars in the mail.

I'm sorry for your experience :( But it just goes to show that not all CMs are magical

What about those who say they called central reservations and ask if they have any discounts for their name...has this ever worked out? Do they have such discounts that they will sometimes apply if you ask them? I have read (not here..but in a couple of books regarding Disney travel) that you should always ask if that is the lowest possible rate for your time of travel, as they won't tell you there might be is a discount apllicable unless you ask.

Auntie:

To expand a bit on some of the earlier explanation. There was a period where people were being told on the phones that this was a 'general public' code.. which lead to people sharing it on the message boards here.

Some people were able to book with it -- and others were not. Disney seems to have closed this loophole and it is now definitely clear that this seems to be a PIN only promotion.

As for calling to ask if you have one associated that you don't know about , yes. It does work out sometimes.

I called because I was planning a trip either way.. and I asked to see if I had any "PINS" associated with our account. She said we did and told me the email address it had been sent to .. (an old one I rarely check)

So.. we booked out trip during one of the discounted weeks. And then I checked the email account and sure enough -- there it was.

After reading for years about people calling and getting a discount, I called yesturday and asked if I had any kind of a discount to my name, she took my info and said yes, it is a "peak discount" but I don't know how much it will be until we quote the trip, I said I'd like the Poly, lagoon view, 7 nights park hopper, she figured with the discount it was around $4700.00, I don't remember for sure, It was only like a $400.00 savings. no thanks. I would have considered a last minute trip if the savings was significant, to me, when your talking five thousand, four hundred is no big deal. Good luck! I just remembered, that was only for garden view, she couldn't find availabilty for lagoon view.

Cara:

Call back and ask for a supervisor to explain the discount dates, and what it's good for.

Shooting in the dark is stupid. You should NOT have to do that.

J

Call back and ask for a supervisor and complain about the cast member!!!

No matter what... if they work for Disney, they should be courteous!!!

Bad day or not... Disney expects better from their CM's

Even if you didn't get their name, I'm sure with the way records are being kept these days they can tell who it is.

And then explain the reason for your original call and see what he or she says about your codes.

It can't hurt to call again.

Whatever happened to the OP? Weird...

I hope she was able to call back and speak to another CM that would give her the discount. If she received the postcard, they definitely should have had a record of it and the pin attached to it.

So what phone number does one call to ask if a pin code is attached to your name???
