CM guest pass and FP+

My family will be visiting Magic Kingdom next month using CM guest passes to enter the park. Does anyone know if we will we be able to use the guest passes to make or change FP+ reservations at the kiosks, even if the CM is not present at the time? I want to be able to get everyone's FastPasses while the rest of the party rides 7DMT first thing in the morning.

I know they can link 7 days in advance on the app, but for various reasons that is not going to be an option, so looking to understand what will happen at the kiosk itself.

Disney updated FP parameters in June especially for Guest Passes.

For pre-booking using the app, the initial FP has to have the MainGate chosen and then the Guest Passes added on afterwards. After that initial booking, Guest Passes can be used to pre-book the other FPs without the need for Selecting the MainGate pass.

Example: Last week I booked FPs and in order to book for the Guest Passes, I first had to book for 2 Ticketed Guests and my CM friend's MainGate. MDE would not allow me to select any of the 3 Guest Passes even though I was using the CM's MDE account.

After the FP was booked, I had to go to Change Party to add in the Guest Passes. It appears the system needs to know the MainGate is also being used for FPs. This has been a frustrating issue for CMs because the system used to easily allow FPs for the Guest Passes.

No one has reported kiosk issues mainly because CMs use the MDE app.

Will the CM allow you to access their MDE to login to book FPs?

I can try to find out, but I doubt it. CM is actually a retiree, not sure about technological acumen or if they even have a smartphone. I'm trying to avoid imposing or making things hard on them since they've already been so generous to allow us to come for free. I don't have any problem just using kiosks, as I think we'll get the FPs we want for the day on the morning of our visit without any issue. Just trying to make sure there aren't any hidden surprises which lock us out of FPs altogether (had read somewhere that the kiosks won't let the guest pass book a FP without the CM first booking on theirs).

If the CM is with you at the kiosks and books with his MainGate before accessing the Guest Passes, that may be possible. If you aren't immediate family, in theory you are supposed to be with the CM. The CMs at the kiosks can explain any difficulties.

I wonder if this is related to ticket type is some way? I am able to book on the app for just my guest passes without having one booked for myself first. This is actually the first I've heard of not being able to book on guest passes separately

Hmm, okay. Not sure what the CM's plans are, to be honest. In the past, with other extended family members, CM has left after letting them in the gate. This was before FP+, though, I believe. I don't want to make them stay with us to get FPs, or turn over their MDE login... seems like an imposition. Was hoping we'd just be able to get our own FPs at the kiosks even if the CM decides they're not staying, but it sounds like that won't work? I certainly don't want to get them into trouble, but I'd also like not to over-promise to my kids what we can ride on that day if it turns out we can't get FPs.

It was easier for me to quickly book for FoP and then add in the Guest Pass FPs via Change Party. I ran through this a few times prior to my window fully opening to 60 days and it was always MainGate and then add in Guest Passes.

Then, for FP#2 and FP#3 I could book for all Guest Passes along with the MainGate and Comps. I just checked for another day of FPs and the system allows me to book for the Guest Passes without selecting the MainGate... perhaps because I already have FPs on Guest Passes and the MainGate? Or, the system has been updated in the past few days?

I'm not sure but no one noticed problems until the system updated in June.

I have a Silver Pass, so maybe that's the difference? I'll check again later to see if anything weird happens. But I didn't have any other FastPasses booked prior to the one I booked this afternoon. It's also highly possible there was a bug that someone more closely involved found out about so it got fixed

If you can test with a Guest who is using a Guest Pass without tapping your MainGate at the kiosk, that will help @Milk Jug know what the kiosk process entails. Thanks!

Once the Guest Pass is "activated" at the Touch-Point entry after the Primary (Main Entrance Pass) "unlocks it", then the Primary no longer has to be used for the Guest Pass park entry and I would ASSUME that that is also the case at the FP kiosk (Primary no longer required). After they are unlocked for the day, they are treated just the same as a "normal" one day, park ticket.

Actually don't prebook, just do "day off". With a little tenacity we get whatever we want. Takes some work though. Able to get about 80% of what we want on day of.
