Clueless about Hollywood Studios

You'll want to do Indiana Jones and Ligths Motors Action, One Man's Dream, the backlot tour, the new Pirates walk-thru attraction (I think it's still there), and time to enjoy the Streetmosphere characters and skits.

I am suprised that anyone likes Star Tours, which is a pretty normal motion simulator, but everyone has different ideas, I guess.

TW o fo the best themed places to eat in WDW are the sci-fi drive-in diner and the 50s prime time diner.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the drawing class. I think it is called Animation Academy. DS who was 8 the first time he did it would probably spend a whole day there. The class is 20 minutes long and you are taught step by step how to draw Disney characters.

Yes - this is great fun!!!

Animation Academy (Inside the World of Animation) is a terrific experience. I like the pre-showhosted by an animator that introduces you into the World as well.

I too have fallen asleep at muppets.... TWICE! I don't love them, but I also find it er... meh.... My kids were bored too, not like Philharmagic at all. BATB is fantastic as is LM. My DD7 and DS9 also enjoyed the Indiana Jones thing. I was sleeping in that day with a headache, but DH said it was action packed.

If you like characters, there are a bunch of characters that you'll find only at DHS.... Phineus & Ferb, Wreck-it-Ralph and Vanellope, Sorcerer Mickey, Mike & Sully, Mater & Lightning, Green Army Man, some of the Disney Jr Characters, and there is also Character-Poluza at Streets of America. IIRC it takes place approx 3 hours before the first Fantasmic if there are 2 that day. So if there's a 9pm & 10:30pm Fantasmic, then Character-Poluza is just after 6pm. There can be some less seen characters and it varies pretty much each day (examples include, but not guaranteed: Snow Queen, Meeko, Gepetto, Jafar and some of the regulars). There are usually about 5-7 characters that participate.

Shows... We love Beauty & the Beast and Lights, Motor, Action. Muppets is ok. Indiana Jones is fun. We're Star Wars fans so we always do Star Tours. Our next trip we're finally going to do Toy Story (missed it the last 2 trips).

Your dinner will be great... Mickey dressed as Jedi Mickey, Minnie dressed as Princess Leia, Donald as as Stormtrooper, Goofy as Darth Goofy all do trips to the tables. Chip & Dale as Ewoks will great you at the door for a picture before your seated.

If your DD doesn't like roller coasters, no big deal, DW & I take turns watching the kids and make sure I always do RnRC and she always does ToT. Sometimes we each get to do both rides.

Fantasmic is another great show. Jedi Training Academy is fun to watch.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground is just that. A playground. Bunch of slides and stuff to climb on and crawl over. When my kids were younger they loved it. Good place to for us to go so one of the adults could go on a ride and the other watch the kids.

So many opinions - you'll have a lot to research OP ;)

We are two adults and did NOT care for Lights Motors Action or Indiana Jones. If you have a kid who is into cars, I could see where they'd get a kick out of LMA, but we found it to be extremely hot in the bleachers and that burning rubber smell made me sick.

Depending on the type of rides people like, I definitely recommend making time for Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Star Tours. TSM is our favorite, but you already have that down. These are the "must do's" IMO. We also like the Animation Academy (drawing class) which runs every 30 minutes. I also agree with PP that no FP is needed for the Muppets. I think the show is worth doing, it's cute, but no worries if you skip it for time reasons.

Also, I think you should play the time between dinner and F! by ear. You should get to F! by 8pm if it starts at 9pm, which should be around the time or shortly after you finish dinner.

OK so far I exchanged the Muppets for a Star Tours FP+. I will plan on getting there early so we can see more shows, esp B&tB and Indiana Jones. I really hadn't factored in the fact that the shows are inside, I thought it would be more like MK with a lot of waiting in hot lines which we don't handle very well.

Thank you so much for the help! Now that I looked up the Jedi meal I am really excited abut it!

I may be wrong, but I think that Indiana Jones and B&tB are in covered outdoor theaters? It has been a while since I have done either so my memory is fuzzy! (I am sure if I am wrong someone will correct me...) It won't be as hot as standing in a line, but it is not as cool as Muppets which is indoor and air-conditioned. Animation (and the M&G inside) have A/C as well. There are definitely more spots to cool off and relax.

Unfortunately if you get hot easily, the BATB and IJones shows are both outside, covered but outside. But fortunately if you need an inside break, the animation building with characters and art of animation drawing class are inside. And muppets won't be a wait if u decide to go last minute just to cool off and snooze since it IS inside :rolleyes1

if you only see one show besides little mermaid make sure its beauty and the beast! one of the best shows on property (not the best but up there) and a family favorite to us :) maybe you should just do a late morning that day? so your daughter gets extra rest and get to the park around 11 1130 to fit in some shows and extras

I fell asleep through the muppets show, so unless you are a big fan of them I would give that a miss and see beauty and the beast or lights motors action, instead. Also Aerosmith and tower of terror are good if you like scarier rides.
I love HS it's my DD's favourite park. You are in for a real treat if you have never seen fasts antic before, it's great.

Just wanted to add that a snooze is the prime reason I ride IASW once or twice every time I am at MK, so I really appreciate knowing where the "nap areas" are! :lmao:

Carousel of Progress. That's an automatic nap in a cool area on those hot July days.

And when the kids were younger Disney junior was nice. Laying on the floor I was out for a good 20 minutes.

I should start a blog on the best places to take a nap at Disney.

Did you start a thread on the best places to nap? I was wondering about that for the days we won't be on property...
