Club Villain

Ok, not sure how accurate the info is, but I thought I'd give you what I have.

DH and I attended Club Villain on May 21 and heard from 3 separate people that Club Villain will be back. One bartender, one server and one "manager type" person all indicated that it will be brought back. According to all three of them, it was designed as a temporary thing since they weren't sure how popular it would be. If you've been, you can see that some of the decorations and things are not quite up to Disney standards (the wall decorations mostly) so now they want to make it more permanent, like the building was made just for this party. Apparently, they are re-doing some of the decorations to make them look permanent while still enabling them to take things down and use the space for other things. They also said that they may find a way to limit how young the children are who come; like 13 and up instead of people bringing their infants.

Again, not sure how accurate this info is, but I hadn't heard it before, so I thought I'd mention it.

Well, there is an audition for male singers for Club Villain this coming Wednesday.

https://disneyauditions.com/audition-calendar/?aud_id=7872

I hope it comes back - I was keeping a night open for it in case it's there on our trip. I hope there's no age limit though - my daughter is 3 and loves the villains! Princesses are her #1, but villains rank right up there. We're going to MNSSHP, but there's just not enough hours to meet everyone and do everything and this is the first year in a while that we won't be doing two parties.

I really hope it comes back too! We saw it in May and it was awesome! It's a bit sad to see they're casting for Kanzo as his performance was awesome. Loved the villans too --- they really were awesome and very in character (Cruella especially.) I'd love to go back on our December trip!

Probably the simplest way to deal with the kids/adults issue is to have the 5:45 show be for all ages and the 9:15 for adults/older kids.

I would love it if it came back, not sure how others feel about this but I almost wish they'd increase the villains or at least have them change up. Maybe the earlier show could feature a particular 4, then the later show a different 4 so you know which ones you'd get.

They could keep Cruella, Maleficent, Snow Queen and Queen of Hearts. Then the different showing could have Mother Gothel, Hans, Hades and a speaking Jafar.

I also wish Facilier would have been meet able.

I hope the villain event does return, but will DEFINITELY SKIP IT if there's an age restriction. DD9 and DS11 (ages now) did PftS in 2014, have done MANY other WDW events for years now, and eat in decidedly "not kid restaurants" all the time.

If we can't bring them to this -- assuming it even returns! -- we'll pick something else to do. And if DH and I want a night out just us, this isn't what we'd choose, however cool it sounds. Character events are family events for us. Seems a silly place for an age restriction to me.

Why would there need to be an age restriction? All the kids at Club Villain the night we went in February had a blast! The dancers in the performances are slightly risqué, but it's not anything a kid hasn't seen in a pop music performance before.

That's great news! FYI - I think that since the show stopped even if the wanted to hire back the same awesome guy to play Kanzo, the have to hold auditions ..

Also - I would be disappointed with an age restriction if an in park childcare service was not available that would be FUN for all kids under that restricted age. Then again - my kids 5/9 - loved the show!

We went twice and had different Konzo's and they were both excellent. I wouldn't worry about a different one. The point of the auditions is to hire singers that are all similar. Both in appearance and sound.

Although we didn't ask "why" about the possible age restriction, we got the feeling that they just didn't feel comfortable with all they younger kids being there. The manager-type CM said that the whole premise for Club Villain is that it is an underground club and kids aren't usually allowed in a club. It's supposed to be an adult event. The price point was deliberate; they didn't think people would pay $99 or $129 for a child under 13 and even then, they didn't think there would be many who would pay that much for 13 and up.

Is it likely that the ticket price will increase?

I'd say it's possible, very nearly probable. But I think it will have more to do with limiting the age without saying they are limiting the age.

There were about 50 little kids there on our night (several infants as well) and I can see how the CM's felt it took away from the atmosphere. The littles were all over the place, including on the dance floor when the CM's were doing their dance numbers. I know that is more about how parents should be controlling their kids, but it would be a bit hard for Disney to say "This 8 year old can come in because we can trust their parents to keep them at the table and not interrupt the show. But that one can't cause the kid will be getting in the way at the wrong time." And I saw our server going to the table next to ours 3 times to ask them to keep the kids in their seats and it didn't do any good. An age limit wouldn't bother me at all.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. We've paid more than that for the kids to do F&W events, WAT, Star Wars VIP Tour, and several others.

"Underground club" not for kids... With people in cartoon villain costumes... ok... Seems ridiculous to me.

I don't mean to offend, but isn't this about what customers/guests want, and not how some CMs may or may not feel? :confused3

Sounds like an issue with enforcing rules to me.

I would love to see one time slot with age restrictions! I went in February and was seated with 2 adults and their toddler daughter. The kid kept putting her dirty napkins and things on my plate, shoes on my seat, tiara and wand in my face. Got old really fast, and I quickly moved to a table where one adult was seated alone. Doesn't make sense to seat a single adult with a family with a baby when there were plenty of available seats at adult tables. I paid the same amount of money to be there and expected to not have my meal ruined by gross toddler snot napkins on my plate. Would very gladly go back, but only if I am guaranteed not to sit with toddlers.

I understand that you feel Club Villain is a family event, this is simply what was expressed to us when we asked questions. Obviously people are willing to pay the money (for this and other events like you have), but apparently some at Disney didn't think it was billed as an environment for kids, so the number of children came as a surprise. Disney should have been blunt in saying this was not for children, but they thought the price tag spoke clearly enough.

To me it looked like Disney was holding their standard line ... ask guests to be courteous of those around them, but if they don't, there isn't much that can be done about it ... except bring it back with an age limit ... And really, CM's shouldn't have had to control those littles ... the parents should have ... and if the CM's had enforced the "rules" everyone would be up in arms about that ... so I guess all that matters is what certain guests want. And yes, what those CM's feel does matter ... especially when they are keeping someone's child from being run over by the dancers because the child won't get off the dance floor.

Again, none of what I posted is considered fact, it is simply what we were told by CM's when we were there talking to them. Will any of it actually happen? At this point no one really knows.

You have a right to think it's ridiculous to put an age limit on this event, others have a right to think the behavior of the children in attendance was disruptive, CM's have the right to think parents should be controlling their littles.

@Aaryana I don't blame you a bit! And honestly, that's part of the reason DH and I agreed any of our kiddos would have to be at least 13 to go to the party.

As a couple of 29 year olds coming to Disney without kids I would love to attend a child free event. Not everything at Disney needs to or has to cater to the child market. I also assumed the price tag and the inclusion of alcohol would have discouraged people from bringing kids. The could easily make the 5.45 all ages and the 9pm show adults only.

Yeah I'm not seeing how a character event at wdw is not for kids.

I understand that Disney isn't just a space for children but it's a very kid friendly place. Unless I was at Victoria and Albert I wouldn't expect to not see little kids. There is no way I'd be attending a character event without my kids. No way. I have no interest. The high price says nothing to me about something being kid friendly or not.

What I find annoying at events is grown adults monopolizing character time. But that's my problem so if you are an adult who is into characters well...you do you and I will get over it. If you can't deal with kids at a character event at Disney then honestly I would suggest a different vacation. I don't see Disney turning an event with characters into something adult only.
