I currently have BC booked with FD and am considering adding CL...for anyone who has done it, is this just WAY too much food?

We have done several split CL/FD stays, but probably wouldn't do them simultaneously. The CL offerings (and relaxing) are a big part of why we do CL, so we couldn't justify combining the two. Once our FD package hits, it's park time, so we wouldn't want the inconvenience of needing to return to the resort in order to take advantage of the offering hours.

We will have our (then) 10 month old with us so I can see us spending a lot of time at the resort. We went to WDW in May and our park days were much shorter than they normally are , having DD in tow.

I'm wondering if the convenience of the lounge and having somewhere to go with her or my older kids for drinks and snacks is worthwhile?

It may or may not be. I've done CL before (AKL) and free dining (BWI). CL at AKL was amazing, and we spent a lot of time at the resort (it was 12/26 through 1/2 so obviously we did as it's the busiest week of the year). We enjoyed the appetizers so much that many evenings we didn't do dinner!

Dining plan seemed like a LOT of food! And I am certain we left with CS credits unused. I would get a meal at the bakery, and I can't possibly finish a whole sandwich. We ended up throwing out so many desserts (so glad now you can get an extra side dish instead - DD and I can easily share a meal then).

If the price is comfortable to you, and you know your family will like it, then get club level. The wine (or beer) alone may be worth it if you drink much! If it's an issue, I'm sure you will have enough food on the plan! Or you could order from garden grocer some extra snacks that you know the kids like, plus water or milk.

The whole worth it thing is really subjective. The one time we got club, we had an AP rate of $269 a night, so I couldn't resist! It was a great deal. The regular price makes me cringe sometimes! But many folks really want to be pampered, and if you work hard and need that then I say go for it.

I think it would be fine with the regular dining plan because the breakfast offerings would round out the DDP nicely. Deluxe Dining Plan combined with CL was WAY too much food.

We just stayed CL at the CR and had the dining plan. We were a group of 9. We all thought it was WAY too much food. Ended up coming home with 50 snacks because we didn't use most of the snack credits and 3 CS credits. We've done the DP many times and have loved it. This was the first time we'd done CL. Everyone except DH would pick CL over the DP next time.

I think CL is a good idea if you will be spending a lot of time at the resort. We don't stay CL every trip but when we do, it's mostly for the lounge and having another place to sit and relax instead of in the room or around the resort. The food offerings are a nice perk, but that's not the main reason we stay CL. With that said, we find the DDP to be fine with CL and will be getting it with our CL stay next summer.

He is at Chef Mickeys too!

I'm glad you said this! I was beginning to think we ate too much!!! LOL!!

Actually, my family enjoyed the DDP and CL at the BC. We liked the space to relax and regroup. We do stop for a glass of wine and a little snack before dinner, but it really is because it is a good way to get out of the room while the others are getting ready. I also used it to read when some of my family was resting in the afternoon.

Honestly, the offerings are nice but if anyone costs them out as the only value of CL, I don't see how it works out. We always purchase a DDP, and never find that it is too much food when combined with CL at any resort. WE are contemplating adding it to our August trip for our two rooms because we figure with the heat we will be using the resort more than we generally do.

We had DDP and CL at Yacht Club a couple of years ago and I wasn't particularly impressed with the CL snacks. We had breakfast there a few times but that was about it. Even when we were at the resort we were down at the pool and it is a bit of a hassle to go back to CL and get something. Didn't think it was too much food because we didn't utilize that often. Our touring plan probably had something to do with this -- morning at the parks, midday at the resort and then somewhere for dinner around 5-6 and then back to the parks for the evening, so we were almost never at the resort when the evening appetizers were out.

If you eat too much, then we do too :rotfl::rotfl:. We love the DDP and don't think it's too much food with CL, so we're right there with you ;).

I do agree about CL not being a good value going strictly by the food offerings. We also love the lounge for another place to relax without being on top of each other in the room and while we do enjoy the food offerings, that's not our main reason for staying CL. The lounges are just so welcoming (IMO) and are a great place for some downtime. We do sometimes take advantage of desserts, but since we usually eat dinner between 5-6 pm, we aren't usually around for the appetizers.

We've stayed at the BC and while it wasn't CL, I can see how it might be a hassle to frequent the lounge at either resort from the pool.

We did DxDDP at AKL on CL and it was perfect for us for a 4-night stay. We did a regular TS and signature TS daily. At the time, they offered a safari that was only available to CL guests, which was one of the main reasons for booking. The savannah view, savory snacks, and wine were the others.
