Club Level at Pixar Place

Yes, thankfully they did the move at no extra charge. It’s really too bad because the view is amazing, but it can’t make up for all that is bad.
So glad they moved you without an extra charge. Sorry you have to deal with switching rooms today though.

Yes. The view rooms at that hotel are incredible! We have not stayed there since the remodel. I’m shocked they did not address the elevator issue during the remodel. That has always been a huge complaint about this hotel.

Appreciate your review as we were considering a club level room here as an extra splurge. Once we heard you cannot take food with you, we had pretty much decided not to try that. We have teens who would want to eat in our room. Not the lounge. So strange that they went this direction for Pixar Place.

Hope the rest of your trip goes well!

Disney’s Pixar Place “club level” review after one day!

First, if you have a reservation here, cancel it or move it to another hotel, or stay off property if necessary.

All the negative people have said above is 100% true. We have stayed club level at The Grand Floridian and The Boardwalk, and it was amazing. I will put a few points below on why I would never stay at, or recommend Pixar Place club level, or really Pixar Place at all.
As a note, my wife articulated the below to hotel staff, and we were moved to Grand Californian (have to check out today at 11, and into the Grand Californian at 3).

Our nightly rate here was about $790.

1. The food: sandwiches in the afternoon were made with stale bread. It was so dry and crumbly, it was honestly hard to swallow. You aren’t allowed to take food out of the club level because it is contracted out to a 3rd party. Every other club level hotel at Disney properties allows you to take food back to your room. If you don’t like Great Maple restaurant, then you will hate the food here even more, as it is managed by the restaurant, not Disney. For the evening bites it was some hummus and vegetables, along with vegan chili. No meat selection. Also, if you have anyone with nut allergies it is impossible to eat here, as half of the items had tree nuts. They had a popcorn salad, which was popcorn, gummy bears, Mike and Ike, and M&Ms in a bowl, no idea who thought that was a good idea. The overall quality of food was at or below school lunch from the 1980s. If you got club level to avoid buying food, you will be disappointed, as you will still need to buy meals, unlike other club levels at other Disney hotels where you can make a meal out of the snacks and offerings. I can’t put into words how honestly horrible the food was.
2. The staff: the first staff member we met was pleasant, and she was helpful. That all ended when the evening staff arrived. I have moderate peanut and tree nut allergies (meaning it probably won’t kill me, but the asthma attack it will cause isn’t fun), this is important below. If you have not stayed club/concierge level at Disney properties before, I will explain quickly. The concierge is basically there so you don’t have to think. They are typically amazing staff who go above and beyond everyday to get answers to any question you have. With that said, my wife asked if the chicken tenders we ordered were cooked in peanut oil. The “concierge” staff said “I don’t know you need to ask the food staff.” In any other Disney property if the concierge personal don’t know they will find out for you, not tell you to ask someone else. My wife asked a food staff member, who asked another food staff member, who went to find a manager of Great Maple, who 15 minutes later came up and said no peanut oil. It should not have been an ordeal, food staff should know what food had allergens. Diverging to the allergen point for another minute. Disneyland online menus are not friendly like Disney World, they don’t list allergens, and don’t have an allergy friendly section. I can manage my allergies easily at Disney World, not here. Back to the staff, again, it just doesn’t meet or even come close to the concierge staff service level at other club level Disney hotels.
3. The elevator. What people have said here is no exaggeration. The 14 story hotel has 3 working elevators (4 normally, but adding one more wouldn’t do much help). We thought we would just use the stairs, wrong! They are locked so once you are out you can’t get back in, even with your key. The hotel staff told us it is because they are for emergencies only. So if there is a fire, good luck getting help if you need it, because the doors will be locked, and the firefighters would need to wrestle with a physical key set from the front desk.

I really can’t say enough bad about this hotel. For nearly $800 a night I expect so much better! Don’t stay here, don’t let your friends stay here, don’t let your enemies stay here.

I might write more later.

KCRykerRider
I'm sorry it was such a disappointing experience. I'm glad they moved you to the Grand and I hope the rest of your trip goes well.

I've considered trying Pixar Place but definitely won't now. I can't believe they still didn't fix the elevators!

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. My daughter has Sesame and Tree Nut Allergies. Anaphylactic allergies so I’ve always been hesitant on the food benefits of any Club Level room. But even more hesitant on Great Maple vs a Disney owned restaurant. We’ve been to the Pasadena location and we’re fine with expressing the allergens. But I was concern that we wouldn’t get the level of care that we usually get from Disney properties. We are staying this upcoming weekend. First time since renovation to Pixar. But plenty of times as Paradise Pier.
Not a fan that it is no longer the “budget” price of the 3 properties. I was hoping they showed improvement or upgrade

thank you for your input, i just switched my trip next week from pixar club level to the grand

Thanks for all the input everyone and links to the video. We were really hoping to have a proper breakfast here for our family of five, and this just doesn't look up to snuff for the price. I think we'd be quite disappointed. Going to stay in a Disneyland Hotel standard room instead which is well over $100 cheaper per night and book Goofy's Kitchen for one morning instead!

I just came across a club level review on Reddit which, for the most part, is positive about Pixar club level. Despite all the negatives about Pixar club (as described in detail in this thread), I'm curious enough about the club that I'm willing to stay there once as an experiment. I will be at Disneyland with my oldest daughter in early December, but I'm not willing to pay $781/day plus tax for Pixar club pool view when I can pay $148/day plus tax at the BW Stovall's just down the road, so I won't be staying at Pixar Place this trip.

**********

Below is a link to the Reddit review, plus an excerpt of the portions of the review related to club level:

Just got back from our Disneyland trip (9/24-9/28) where we stayed at the Pixar Place Hotel at a club level room.

Creator’s Lounge: I used the heck out of the lounge during my stay. It’s not as fancy as the club levels at the Disneyland Hotel or the Grand, but for my family it was great. Breakfast was assorted mini-pastries, mini-bagels, toast, cut fruit, oatmeal with the fixings, mini-quiches, berry crepes, cereal, and coffee (regular and a machine made cappuccino, American is, etc…)/ juice.

Mid-day had salad and the fixings, caprese and turkey sandwiches, popcorn, Chex-mix type snack, almond butter and jelly sandwiches, and a couple of other things. Evening was hot hors d'oeuvres (chili one night, nachos another, and fondue), charcuterie cups, hummus cups, and salad (one night there was a tuna-type salad and a slaw).

Dessert (7-8) was cookies, brownies, rice Krispy treats, bread pudding and cut fruit. I don’t drink but beer and wine is offered I think in the evenings.

You’re not supposed to take food out of the lounge but I did see people get to-go cups for their drinks. My biggest thing with the lounge was the convenience for my toddler. I didn’t have to leave the hotel to get breakfast, I knew during our mid-day break at the park she could get a snack and I could eat. In the evening I could again get her a snack. Tip, you can ask for whole milk in a cup with a straw if you have kids that drink whole. I drink a lot of coffee at home and only bought one coffee during my entire stay since I could get coffee in the lounge.

Bumping this thread to ask if there are any recent Pixar Place club lounge reviews? I'm curious about the alcohol available timing.

I do web searches two or three times a week, looking for both video and written reviews of the Pixar Place club lounge, but I've found nothing for a few months. Although most of the reviews to date have been negative, I'd still consider giving the lounge a try if the price were right.

In regard to alcohol, I've seen three different claims, in reviews, about the availability of alcohol in the club lounge:

(1) available all day on request.
(2) available during evening meal only, or
(3) available during dessert time only.

I suspect that alcohol must be available all day (just like it is in the club lounges at other Disneyland and Disney World hotels), but I have no concrete evidence to back this up.

EDIT: I just submitted a question to Disneyland using their email inquiry system, asking about the hours of availability of alcohol in the Creators Club Lounge. If I receive a reply, I'll post the answer in this thread.

@Reepicheep Thank you! Great idea.

I booked 4 nights at the end of August for $515/nt. Which is I think is not a bad price if we were going to stay on site anyway. If we're going to stay at Hojo, then it's a really bad deal haha.

I asked a travel agent on YouTube who had been there recently. She said you can bring snacks out, but you can't take their plates so bring Ziplocs. Alcohol can he asked for any time of day, you just have to ask. And she said the hours were usually 7-10. So if that's all true, I'd be happy with that!

Pixar Place closes earlier than the other two lounges, closing at 8pm (dessert is the last service). This is from the website when booking:
  • Access to the Creator's Club on the second floor. (Please note: Food cannot be taken out of the Creator's Club)
  • Nightly turndown service
  • Continental Breakfast from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM
  • Personal assistance from the Concierge Staff
  • Daily snacks and non-alcoholic drinks from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Special weekly culinary demonstrations
  • Desserts from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Wine, beer and appetizers from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
I haven't done club level there yet, but will likely do it in Jan or Feb of next year. Hopefully someone else stays before then and can give us some concrete information on availability of alcohol throughout the day. I do love me a morning mimosa (or two 🤣)

My family stayed club level last July/August and if I remember correctly, the alcohol was available all day, you just had to ask the staff. I definitely remember my dad and brother getting beer during the lunchtime hour.

And while you couldn’t take food out, they were happy to give you a plastic cup if you needed water or juice. Additionally, they didn’t mind us taking some cans of soda as well. I will say that we did sometimes take some of our leftover snack items with us and they never said anything, but we weren’t taking large portions of food. Although my brother did like the food they had on the Spanish inspired night and did manage to take some of the taquitos with him.

Ok, everybody act natural! Sneaking food out of the lounge.

I just submitted a question to Disneyland using their email inquiry system, asking about the hours of availability of alcohol in the Creators Club Lounge. If I receive a reply, I'll post the answer in this thread.

I received a reply back to my query. The good news is that Briar Rose herself responded to my question although, personally, I think Disney has laid off far too many employees, if Disney Princesses are being forced to answer email queries when they aren't signing autographs in the parks.

The bad news is that she told me she didn't know the answer to my question, and that I should phone the Walt Disney Travel Company who can answer all hotel related questions.

Based on replies posted by @blabbermouth and @Riss, I think it is safe to assume that alcohol is available all day in the lounge, upon request. The "no food leaving the lounge" rule, however, is certainly annoying.

As an aside: I've only stayed club level at a Disney hotel once since COVID, and that was at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney World in April/May 2024. We had a non-club reservation, but on a whim at check-in I asked about the cost of upgrading our stay to club level. After several phone calls which took 5 minutes or so, the employee at the desk offered the four of us 7 days of club at the incredible price of $121.50/day including tax. Since a fast-food breakfast alone would have cost us around $60, I immediately accepted the offer. I drank a lot of beer during the next 7 days, but that is a tale for another time...

I booked 4 nights at the end of August for $515/nt. .

Paying $515/night for a regular room would be a good rate. If you are paying $515 for club, then I think you got an exceptional rate.

EDIT: back in pre-COVID days, I discovered that the last week of August was an excellent time to book the Paradise Pier hotel. When we stayed at a Disneyland hotel, for financial reasons it was always the Paradise Pier, and almost always the stay was during the last week of August.

Hahaha about Briar Rose :)

Fun fact about the end of August! It works for us, my daughter doesn't go back to school until 1st week of September. I did play around with the dates, by the time we thought about going the summer deal booking date was over in 1 day, so there wasn't a ton of availability, but this was the cheapest available days. It was $85/nt more than a standard room at DLH. Plus with the easy access to DCA now I think it'll be easier to pop over for drinks and snacks. We always get a latte in the mornings (and sometimes afternoons), and those add up at Disney too.

Hahaha about Briar Rose :)

I successfully turned both my daughters into Disney fanatics. My oldest daughter spent 2 summers working at Disney World, 1 summer working at Disneyland, followed this up with 4 Disney cruise ship contracts, and is about to spend 1 year working at the Canadian pavilion at EPCOT. She insists everything Disney is "real", and I get criticized if I even suggest that (for example) Mickey Mouse isn't a real, very large mouse. So, then, I must insist that it WAS Briar Rose who responded to my email.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

ASIDE: On my first trip to Disneyland in 1968 (as a naive 8-year-old from the Saskatchewan prairies), I sincerely believed that I took a rocket trip to the moon and was shrunk down to the size of an atom. So, believing that I received a personal email from a Disney princess is not much of a reach for me...

Aww, so cute Reepicheep! Fellow Canadian here as well, but didn't get to go until I was an adult.
