Clowning Around on the Boardwalk! A Wigdout Trip report

Julia what is your schedule for the first week of May. We leave 1 week from today:banana: We plan on being at MK on Monday May 3rd for sure & some other days. I want to meet you & say hi.
I hope you are able to meet up with her!
You might have to do one more day at Disney after Vero Beach next summer so you can see us! ;) Our last day of school next year is Wednesday, June 8! So we'll probably make our "last hurrah" annual pass trip from the 9th or 10th until the 16th when the APs expire. Can't be in WDW once they expire, though... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thanks for the dates, gives me something to think about when we book that trip!

Just got off the phone with member services....
Playing the just checking to see what you have available game....
So here was the question.
For the night of July 4th, do you have anything large available Magic Kingdom view at Bay Lake?
CM said, like a Grand Villa?
I said exactly!
She said we have nothing.....
Darn.

So, I'll just call back next week.

We couldn't have booked it anyway, and if they would have had just one available it would have driven me crazy!

I know, I know.....
actually, the reason for the call was to get the DVC discount code for the photo pass CD....
I figured I'd check while I had the CM on the phone.
:upsidedow

Aw, darn! And to think, we've figured out a way to get to Disney for the 4th and everything! :rotfl:

I read in another TR that (assuming you booked Bay Lake View) if you request a high floor w/ an even numbered room, then you might end up with a partial MK view. Just a thought... I think we're going to make that request for July... unless I move that ressie to SSR for a 1-BR since our friends are now coming with us...

Oh the scheming hasn't stopped....
How exactly would you be able to get there on the 4th? I can't wait to hear what you have cooked up!

Well, that's the week we were going to go up to NY to visit MIL & family. So, rather than flying to NY on the 2nd or 3rd & coming home on the 8th or so, we figured we'd fly to Orlando the morning of the 4th, then fly from Orlando to NY on the 5th, and then back home on the 11th or so. :teeth:

P.S. Called member services & got the code. Also checked again for availability somewhere other than SSR for June (still no luck, two waitlists though :rotfl: ), and added our friends to the July reservation.

We are going to wait and check back when our points are in the system. Thinking at this point if the Grand isn't available to see about a 1br any view. We would have room to put you up for the night if we get moved if you want to stay...

:scratchin very interesting Maryellen...very interesting indeed...;)

Tracy

:rotfl: I know. She claims its the best incentive going, but very top secret. I am sure she must persue to see when people are arriving and then place that strategic call......"Hi. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am your new guide Stephanie. Are you planning any visits in the near future?" ;)

"Why...yes, Stephanie, as a matter of fact, I am.........." (as if you didn't know...lol)

[I can't wait to hear if they are any different than they were when we were there over spring break. I'll bet it's the cruise, last years points depending on your use year or money off the purchase price.
Anything else I'm very curious about...

I got the flyer for the cruise, but that didn't really seem worth it to me. It seemed too limited in availability. I like the idea that I can get 70 or 80 points more at SSR or possibly 100 at the BC. DH's biggest complaint is the yearly dues. He doesn't want to pay much more in yearly dues, so that's why I think 100 pts should be our max purchase for right now. But, like I said, even 70 or 80 at SSR would be a good start for me. Its so hard to anticipate how our traveling style will change once the kids are completely out of the house. I just know that 80 to 100 pts will give us a nice stay in a studio for the 2 of us and then we can still do a yearly stay in a 2BR.

Anyway - I will let you know what I find out. I think its worth meeting the guide and see what's going on.

:thumbsup2 Can't wait...except that will be my last night :guilty:

Wigd, preorder discount for photopass is back for everyone, $100. don't know if DVC can get a better deal or not :confused3

Right now they're still giving out the code for 50% off the CD if you are within your 45 day window. Then you apply that to the $99 offer and folks are getting the CD for $49!!! I sure wish I was in my 45 day window. I'm sure this loophole will be closed soon...

Hey! Where did ya get that code??!! IS that coming in the mail with your trip paperwork? Or the email messages they send as you get closer to the vacation? We are not in a package so I was thinking we might not get that info! 99.95 for the preorder is great -- I was able to get a discount last year too, on top of that, but it was only 20% off or something, so this "loophole" is AWESOME! Hope it is still around for another week and a half!

WigD sounds like you are having fun with all your plotting! IF you put yourself on a waitlist for a room, will they call you if you are "next" to get it, or if it becomes available will they just rebook to someone who calls to inquire (before checking the waitlist?) I am thinking at this point, since we are still close to two months away that the waitlist isn't likely to materialize for the extra days at BCV... I am looking forward to Vero, but would still like to be at BC. What is your experience with the way the waitlists work?

You have to call DVC Member Services, and then they email you the code. I was told it could take up to 48 hours to get the email, but it arrived about 2 hours later. :)

Honestly, they didn't offer us anything that made us think the deal was better than what we could get buying resale.

Called and got the DVC code this morning!

What Michelle said! I'll pm you with specifics!

I have never had them call me about a waitlist. Just the next thing I knew we had the room we were waiting for.
That is with the exception of the waitlist for BLT. Nothing is opening up there!

You have to call DVC Member Services, and then they email you the code. I was told it could take up to 48 hours to get the email, but it arrived about 2 hours later. :)

Same here, it showed up much sooner than I expected!

Okay great! Got your PM! Ignore what I said though, b.c it sounds like the $50.00 off is member only?

Oh, so they just pulled you off the waitlist and took care of it, didn't call you? Just did it for you?

They just do it for you, no call or anything.
You get a letter telling you of the change.
For us a letter adjusting our points.
We can check member services and it shows up there as soon as the waitlist comes through.

Okay, well there is still some sliver of a possibility then! The owner we have rented from is super nice, and she said something similar, so I guess she'll let us know!

I keep wondering if I should forgo Vero and see if BW is still available.. It was then, but probably not now... I think we should just stick with Vero..
