On the first day when you pick up your mugs it will show the purchase of a 14 day mug so you take that mug to the second resort to show that you are within the days or something like that.

I thought I read they are supposed to be able to override the 14 days when you purchase the mug? :scratchin

Wouldn't it be nice if a perk of staying at a WDW resort free refills in the parks? A lot less paper cups to throw away.

So, can you fill your own reusable water bottle from the machine for water for free or do you have to pay for it? Can you get a one time cup for water for free or do you have to pay for a drink?

Not trying to be picky, just trying to figure out the best way to get our water to drink at the hotel food court. We used to drink soda and got the mugs, but now we don't. :)

Thanks.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside 12-29-13--->1-4-14. My husband and I got the water cups at the register for free. He made lemonade with the lemons and sugar, and a couple of times brought his own canned soda from our room and just got ice for the cup. I bought a regular coffee cup each morning at the register.

This was the first time we did not have a mug to use, I thought I would be bummed about it, (the mug is part of the experience for me :), but I'm ok with it now, wan't as "bad" as I thought, I've adjusted to being mug-free. My son and daughter bought the mugs because they wanted one, their own money. Daughter only drinks water....her money so ok.

(I did see people using old mugs for coffee.)

oh no! not the old "lemons and sugar" to make "free" lemondade!!!:rotfl:

sorry, I am a server. I don't mind people ordering water, or even water with a slice of lemon. we often only drink water with our meals.

but once you start using a few lemons, and sugar and make your own lemonade cause you are too cheap to BUY lemonade? that's pushing it.

now, I buy the mug. and have been known to do the same, because, for some SOME reason, Disney only had "light" lemonade. however, I paid for the mug.

getting free water, no problem,, even one slice of lemon,, iffy, but, ok,, more lemons and sugar? just like, free hot water and your own tea bags no problem....use the food court tea bags.. not classy.

Lol have talked to 6 disney ppl today from reservations and dining and not the same answer from anyone. Doing a split stay 3N pkg with dining and tickets then 6N at another resort room only. I could see paying add'l $3 each mug to make them length of stay at the 2nd resort, but not having to buy brand new mugs for this resort.

I am told the mugs r resort specific and can't be used at another resort even when they r valid at the 1st which I don't think is true either.

1 rep says I show the 1st resort my 2nd reissue and they make the mug good for 10 days from the start.

Another says no, the mug starts off as a 3N mug and at 2nd resort is upgraded paying $3 each.

Another says nope....pay for a 3n mug with the pkg, then have to pay full price for a new mug at 2nd resort. Actually had a cpl tell me this and that just seems so wrong.

What do you guys think?

that is just crazy!!! I ahve ALWAYS said the mugs were good for your entire disney vacaiton, even with a split stay.

now. with the RFID mugs, they have reinstated what we already know...
at the first resort, show your reservations for your entire stay.. from what I understand, they will enciode your rfid mugs for your entire length of stay, up to 14 days.

be sure to keep your reservations and receipt anyway,, just in case.. we all know how things can screw up.

please let us know how this turns out.

So, is it the cashier at the food court where I pick up and pay for the mugs that I show my reservation for my entire stay?

Our trip isn't until the end of June but we have had so many issues. Shows me traveling with DH, DS ans DD. DH correctly shows both resorts to his name. My kids have 2 entrees for each, 1 identity for each hotel! The 1st hotel with food plan they are listed as 18+!!!! And strangely no Adrs with them. The 2nd room only Reservation has them correctly as 11 and 14 and ADRs for the 2nd part of the trip. My last talk with Disney put me to 2 diff't levels of tech support and then a promise they will look into this. Again, everyone is realllllly nice, but what a mess.

For dining and tickets, an 11 year old and a 14 year old are considered adults. Since you have dining and tickets for the first hotel, I would assume that that's why they're listed as adults. But for the second hotel, you have room only and an 11 year old and 14 year old are considered children with regards to hotel occupancy. (If they were both 18 or older, you would have to pay an additional charge for a third and fourth adult in the room.) I would assume that that's why they're listed differently on the two reservations.

I just came back from Disney and was staying at the pop century but I am returning for my birthday in March does anyone know when they will release the new mugs? Will we have new mugs by March? We already have the same design twice from 2012 and 2013 just different colors. It'd be nice to have a new design :D please advice :stitch:

Silly question ... I know that WDW has the resort mugs but as our first trip to DL is this summer do they have them as well ? Or is this just a FL thing ? :confused3

I don't think anyone knows if or when Disney plans on a new mug design. I'd heard some rumors that it would be this year, but the rumor mill was wrong about new mugs for 2013 and about a new design to coincide with the Rapid Fill roll out so at this point it is anyone's guess.

Thank you for the reply, I know they change the design every other year and then every year or so they change the colors. But since I always go in December I never really know when they usually release them if it's in late January or later throughout the year. I'm so excited to see what the new design looks like :yay:

They broke the every other year pattern this year. The current mug design debuted in 2011 so it has been around for three years already. I have a cabinet full of the darned things and would love to see a new design before my March trip but I'm not getting my hopes up.

FWIW, the last few mug changes have been phased in as stock of the old mugs runs out. So there isn't an exact date - they make the change on the production side at some point, near end of the previous year probably, but the appearance of new mugs varies by resort because they don't introduce them until the old design sells out. So at one resort it might be Feb but not until March at another. The one thing you can count on, though, is seeing it here as soon as it starts happening anywhere!

the thing I dislike most about the RFID chip is that you can't put it in the microwave. I use all my old mugs at home.e very morning I muke a cup of tea in one, and take it with me to work. I always say "everything tastes better in a Disney mug". rats

I thought you couldn't microwave the mug while you are using it at WDW because it would fry the chip, not make the mug unusable. So, once you get home you should be able to microwave it.

I guess we need the Mythbusters to bust that myth.

Somewhere up thread I posted a youtube of what happens when you microwave an RFID chip. It caught fire and burned (well the metal sparked and the other components caught fire and burned but you get the idea). We're thinking it's a chance that the mug would melt around the chip.

It depends on the chip, I think. I've seen those videos of microwaving credit cards with RFID chips but my mugs have been through the dishwasher and microwave with no obvious damage. I've read other reports of the same too, so I don't think it is a fluke.

What I'm more interested in than the microwave, which doesn't come into play until I'm home, is the dishwasher angle. The ValidFill web site FAQ says that the chipped mugs aren't dishwasher safe unless it specifically says so on the bottom, which the Disney mugs do not, and if it really can't survive the dishwasher I could absolutely see myself inadvertently frying the chip on a DVC or Ft Wilderness cabin stay.

hmm. we need an answer on this one. today I brought a mug of hot tea with me to tend bar at the VFW, but in my mind I was at Pop century, using that mug! :woohoo:

the other day, in my car, my tea tasted like the hot tea at pepper market. last week I was reminiscing about the latest pool scene! lol.. I love my old disney mugs.
