Well, I mentioned a few days ago that my local Walmart is closing their fabric department, well on Saturday I got about 40 yards of fabric for 58.00, well I couldn't resist and went again today during my lunch break. I got another 55.00 worth of fabric, more tink, mickey, winnie the pooh, some pink floral, plain red, plain green, black with white polka dots, a cute pastel stripe and a black and white floral and 10 yards of white muslin and 5 yards of interfacing. I feel so bad but I can't resist the prices. I also bought two bundle packs today from Carla C. I printed off three of them at work and can't wait to get started. I think I will go with the A-Line next, it looks to be pretty easy and I am just a beginner. Well I have plenty of fabric for the next few years, so no excuses !!

Nice haul! I'm a little jealous. But I had to laugh that you have enough fabric for the next few years...:rotfl2: Just wait!! You'll NEED more fabric in a month.

Big question for you Simply Sweet dress makers... I'm thinking of modifying the straps on the halter style dress. I like the fitted look of the halter but DD2 will not go for the strap around her neck. Plus, I want her to be able to wear a shirt under it if need be (our cruise is in November) and think that might look wierd with the traditional halter style. Here is what I want to do:

One inch wide straps would start in front and wrap over shoulders and meet in middle of the back of the halter. I'm thinking of attaching it in the back with buttons so it can grow with her. This would mean no elastic in straps. What do you guys think? Do you think the straps will stay on her shoulders? Should I crisscross the straps? Please help if you can! Thanks!

This sounds cute! I would probably cross the straps in back.

Here are some things I have been working on for our May trip:

We will be in EPCOT during the flower and garden festival so this Vida was made with that in mind.

I love this! So cute!!

Linnette, I hope your toothache get better quickly. No fun... :(

Another round coming through!:scared1: MY kids are fussy, and I'm afraid to try to start dinner. I need these storms to pass!

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

They were just talking about the tornados in OK on our local news here in DC. They said the watches are up until 1am. Long night... I'm so sorry you are alone with the kids while the storms are moving through. Can you hole up with a neighbor? My prayers are with you guys.

You may remember the half yard of hearts and ladybug fabric I got from the remnants section at Joann a week ago... I decided to go for a skirt and kind-of used the 5-minute skirt tut from Angry Chicken.... but I spent so, much more time than 5 minutes ;)
Anyway... this is what I ended up with!
vskirt.jpg

I am happy with it. I used a soft stretchy knit folded over (don't remember what its called, used for t-shirt collars, and sleeve cuffs?) for the waist band as DD2 has the cute little baby belly and struggles with skirts, I wanted this to be super comfy for her. I added the ruffle, but its not that full of a ruffle since I was working with only a half yard.
She has a simple pink shirt to go over it, for preschool on Wednesday, when they are doing Valentines day, and I am planning on her wearing it to a church breakfast on Saturday also.
Tonight she had no patience for trying it on... it was a game - put it on, pull it off, repeat. So, I have no model. Maybe on Wednesday she will cooperate :lmao:.

In case you don't hear it enough... THANK YOU for your bookmark list Teresa :)
So cute!

I'm going to Disneyland!

My husband came home this evening and told me, with a little Cheshire Cat grin, that he has to go to Long Beach for a conference at the CSU Chancellor's Office next month. He requested permission to take me.

We'll stay (all expenses on the state of California, thank you very much) in Long Beach for 3 nights, and since we'll be so close we'll spend the final day at the Land before driving home. Just the two of us!

The good news is that I don't have to sew like crazy for the next month. The bad news is I have to find someone to watch my daughter.

hmmmm, whatever shall I do, poohnpigletCA?
How exciting!!!

Hello Everyone! I am back from Disney to reality in NJ and home with a sick child  She'll be alright....but I gotta take her to the doctor for meds.

So, the quick trip to Disney was a success and I really had a wonderful time meeting everyone and my friend and I enjoyed touring the parks. I have to say that I am officially affected by motion sickness and will have to try some non-drowsy dramamine next time. Between the planes, trains, buses and attractions......my head was spinning :scared: So, I missed a few attractions but I just really enjoyed being at the parks and the weather was just gorgeous!!!! :cheer2: I will make a mini report and let you know when I post it. I just want to check that it is ok with everyone if I post pics of the dis kids! :confused3 So....is it ok???

I briefly looked back at the last few pages of the thread. I saw some cute things and cute kiddos! :lovestruc Great job!!!
Welcome home!

Well, I have alot to say, but guess I should get in the shower now! I'll come back later!

Everything is so cute! I love the pictures posted of the dismeet! I can't believe that Cindee seems to have a good one, the kids were all over the place! I think Little was sleeping when the picture was taken, she wasn't feeling the greatest and slept through most of the meal.
Welcome home!

Here are some things I have been working on for our May trip:

This is for travel day. I copied the clip art image from a diser on the disign board. I had saved it a few years ago (before I sewed) with the intention of doing iron-ons. Never got to the iron-ons but decided to applique it instead.

I really love this pattern! Carla! You rock! ;)
Super cute!

Ok well. I think I might have to make a Dr. appt for Georgia soon. She keeps getting headaches almost daily. She is home from school today because she had one last night that lasted until she fell asleep at like 1am! So not only was I up trying to help her, I was super tired from not sleeping the night before so that was like 40 hours up straight! Gave her tylenol she got her Disney soft ice pack (the only one she will use) and cried herself to sleep in my arms... She is feeling better right now. I told her this morning that if she stayed home she couldn't play her DS and had to stay in bed all day to rest her body. And she said ok and went back to sleep. So I know she wasn't up to par or she would have never agreeed to her no DS.

I hate that I can't really do anything for her headaches So she is laying down right now, just had lunch and is designing skirts for me to make her. haha
Poor Georgia.

Lori- LOVE Jo Jo's Easter dress. It is perfect for Spring. :)

Snubie- The Flower Mickey is so cute and creative. You have to do a tee for yourself to match. ADORABLE!

My house is the place to be. I have the cellar. Though I don't like trying to get in it. You have to go outside and then climb down into it. With 3 kids, not fun!

Thank you.
I was thinking of making my t-shirt pink with the pink Mickey flowers and having DH wear a lime green shirt to coordinate. He does not want the Mickey flowers, not sure why though.:confused3
