That is beautiful!

I am looking for ideas for autographs. We did a pillowcase last time and that worked well but I am looking for something different. I do not want to do a book. I want something "practical," something Lauren might use. I would rather not do a t-shirt either. Any ideas?

First off.. I hate ironing. I refused to iron this dress twice in one night, so here it is all wrinkled and dirty after she wore it. :rotfl2:

I made this back in November. I never take the time to take pictures of things to post. Hannah wore this to a party tonight, so I figured I should get some quick pics! I'm going to have to redo this dress because it is running pretty small on her right now. I'm just going to rip it apart and keep the smocking plate and start over. :scared: This was by far the hardest smocking plate I have done because I didn't have the smocking plate. I just had a picture of the smocking plate. Why oh why did I torture myself??? I had to make up alot of it as I went.
I plan on getting a Jen bow to go with this one. I think it needs one. The headband is cute, but she won't keep it on!

I hope to catch up later. Working on Valentine's dress. I digitized a cute Minnie and Mickey design and it came out way too small in my 5 by 7 hoop. It would look great if I had a larger hoop. :snooty:
I think I am going to freehand applique. Heather tutorial here I come! :upsidedow

Your Snow White dress is beautiful! The smocking looks perfect! Heather's tutorial is wonderful you'll have no problem!

I promised that I'd post pics of what I decided to do with the closure of the wrap dress. I had actually purchased a frog closure, but when I went to put it on, I couldn't find it. SO, I went with my second choice. Buttons. I also put in a snap at the neckline where it makes a "v" just to make sure that it doesn't gap. I have to say that it appears to be very secure to me. I don't think that we'll have any problems with it falling off! SO, here's the pics.

This one is just to prove that my DD does still exist! YES, she is asleep, and YES, she has on her PJ's. She wasn't too happy with me.

I love the dress! It looks perfect for your Chinese New Year Celebration! I think I'm going to have to get that pattern. It looks just like a dress I got my girls last year for Easter from Hanna Andersson. It 's fantastic!

Teresa, how is Lydia this morning? I hope she is feeling better! I feel the same way, we cannot stay healthy this winter. I don't ever remember being as sick as frequently as my kids seem to be. I wonder what has changed?

You guys are a bunch of enablers! I am not the speediest of sewers in the first place but then you all go and talk about books! So of course I had to read the Twilight series. I am now on Breaking Dawn (and I just started the whole series about 10 days ago). So you can imagine how much sewing I'm getting done - none!

Hope Kyle is feeling better today. So funny about Rocky. Aren't dogs hysterical?
that they are! Rocky was 100 lbs and Daisy is about 70 ad both are the biggest chickens known to man or dog! Seriously I think they are lying when the said that Rhodesians used to hunt lions!!!!!

So pretty!

UGH! I finally sat down to attach the closures for the Chinese New Year dress, and now I can't find the frog closure that I bought! WHERE did it GO? UGH!
That just happens here constanly. I think there might be a little ghost that goes around stealing and moving things. Did you find it yet?

Thanks! After Lydia took her nap this afternoon she really took a downward spiral. She isn't lookng good at all. Her fever is now up to 102 (not terribly high but hers is usually around 97). She is sleeping now. She keeps thinking she is going to throw up, so I expect a middle of the night call from Arminda.
I hope she is feeling better soon. It has been such a bad winter for illness.
LOL! That dog does seem to sneak into the pictures, doesn't he? I think he was curled up under a blanket most of the day. For a breed that came from Germany, he doesn't seem to like the cold at all!
Hope you are all staying warmer now.
You have to run around your machine while following the pattern?:rotfl2: Do the directions say you have to stand on one leg too? :rotfl: I KNEW there was a reason I didn't like patterns::yes::

I NEED to stop "skimming" this thread LOL
I find the more I use commercial patterns the easier they are getting. The instructions are terrible and I just try to figure out what they want me to do. Most of the time I set the outfit down and walk away for a day or two. My sundress took almost 2 weeks!

Shannon, Beautiful! And the dress is cute too!
I have that pattern on my wish list, I might have to get it if we have any money left after vacation!

The dress is just beautiful. Where did you get the fabric? I love it. Only boys in this house so I get admire all the pretty girl outfits posted here. Hope you find the missing frog for your next dress.

My DD has paneling in her walls with grooves on it. Hubby says I can't paint it.
Let us know what you come up with!

In my old house we had that also. I put spackle or a filler in each groove then sanded it down and painted. I also put a bit of texture on the wall. It came out great and looked so bright and clean.

That is beautiful!

I am looking for ideas for autographs. We did a pillowcase last time and that worked well but I am looking for something different. I do not want to do a book. I want something "practical," something Lauren might use. I would rather not do a t-shirt either. Any ideas?

How about a tote bag or one of those autograph Dogs?

Also, you could get a bunch of autographs on a baseball. Not very "practical" though. It would look neat on a shelf in a boys room. Just one other idea I had. My DH used to go to the hotels where the Teams were staying and get autographs after the games.

Gorgeous girl, even when grumpily asleep in her pjs! I was hoping to see the frog closure, but the button looks cute. Very smart adding an extra snap. It looks even more beautiful on!

THANKS, EVERYONE! (I know Tom commented too - but I must have somehow lost his message in my multi-quote - sorry!)

I'm pleased with how it turned out. I'll definitely be using this pattern again. It was VERY easy in my opinion. I would have loved to have the frog closure. It was going to be great! But I just don't know where it went! I'm sure I'll find it now that the buttonholes are cut! Maybe on the next go round I can use the frog.

Someone asked about the fabric. It is made by Michael Miller. It is called "Chinese Children". I bought it in a group buy last year. I've not looked on quiltshops.com to see if it is still available, but that might be a place to check.

You guys are SO encouraging. You really know how to encourage a gal to keep sewing! I'd love to get some things done this weekend, but I'm getting ready for a business trip (leave tomorrow), and I'll be gone all week. No sewing for me! Have fun, and I'll catch up when I get back!

Hey, everyone should check out the YCMT blog! They have a chance at being recognized as One of America’s Top Mom-Owned Businesses!
Here's the link to read about it: http://ycmt.wordpress.com/2009/01/22/we-need-your-help/

I voted!!

The pooh dresses are adorable!

Love the Valentine's day dress, and I love that picture of Jenna in your siggy!!

My dh loves transformer as a kid, and loves your shirt and wishes that our ds will grow up to enjoy transformer one day. Then, I can make him a shirt like that!

Love the idea of a T-shirt dress, and the jeans are adorable! I wanted to make my dd a pair of jeans like that but my dh was totally against it. I really like it!

Love your customs, and your girls are adorable!

That's one of my favorite casual Cinderella outfit!

I love the dress, the style, the fabric and just everything about it! Abby Grace looks cute even when asleep and not happy.

Just gorgeous!! I used to smock a lot for my girls when they were little, but mostly just geometric. I've only done one picture smocked plate. All those who think smocking is sooo difficult, my analogy is, if you can cross-stitch, you can smock. It is time consuming, but not difficult - and sooo pretty! ::yes::

Hello! Does anyone have a relatively easy, pattern for a fabric pin or brooch? I looked on the bookmarks but nothing comes up.

We are doing an "Animator's Palette" theme for our Mother/Daughter Banquet this year. We are asking all the ladies to wear black and white and then their favors will be the colorful pins and the younger ladies will get headbands. Thanks for any ideas!

How is he doing this morning? Better, I hope.

Yes, finally :) He turned back into my little wild man about 4 this morning. LOL!

This is beautiful!! Your smocking looks perfect. I had Jennifer (JenWDW) make some Snow White bows for us and they are one of my favorites from her!

I agree about the smocking! Oh that outfit is adorable!! I love it!!!

It is beautiful! Sleepy child and all! I just love the way the fabrics coordinate and love the button you choose!

Now, back to my sewing for today. Got half of a strip skirt done and began part of anoher dress!

I have this one marked in my favorites. I know there are others out there too! HTH!

Well, no sewing today but I did cut out material to make the top for a Big give outfit and cut out material for Sara Beth's colonial williamsburg dress. Hopefully I will get some sewing done tomorrow and might even have time to skoot over to moms to use her serger. If I am making something for someone else it has to be serged! Any ideas where to get a good used serger? I really want one but don't have the money.

I've been trying to work on my big give, but I keep screwing it up! You wouldn't know that I've made a million on these quilted jackets. Or even that I've ever sewn. But I'm determined to get it finished this weekend.

I will say that I'm a little disenchanted with some of the people on the Gives. At first I had some private emails through the list, which was great. A thank you is so nice. There have been times, they haven't even fishished thier trip reports with pictures. That is all it would take to know that someone has appreciated all your hard work. But that last few have been nothing. It's so sad.

This is really a pretty dress. It came out great. :thumbsup2

The kids used to like to get little cars autographed at the Nascar races, or we'd send them away.

Anyway, Kirsta likes to have a small picture book of her vacation to show people. Do you have pictures from the last trip with kids and the characters? Maybe you get a picture autographed and keep in a photo book.

Shannon that is a very pretty dress and I love those buttons. They fit the dress perfectly.

I want to thank everyone for the compliments on Jenna's Valentine's outfit and the picture of her in my signature. I love that picture the most out of all of our vacation pictures. That was on her favorite ride the Teacups. I can't wait to hear her laughing on it again.

Good luck with the jacket.
I am sad that this has happened with the Gives. I have not participated in many but did make 3 things for a current give. I understand the need to feel like all your hard work is appreciated.

I have to say that I agree with you. Some of the people that are getting BIG GIVES are better off than some of us on here and some of them don't seem to appreciate the hard work that goes into the outfits.
